    The rule of law is one of the fundamental values upon which the EU is built. Five years on, the 2024 Rule of Law Report shows EU countries are better prepared to detect, prevent and address emerging challenges. The report examines developments and addresses recommendations in 4 key areas: ⚖️ Justice systems  ⚖️ Anti-corruption framework  ⚖️ Media freedom & pluralism  ⚖️ Institutional checks & balances For the first time, the report includes 4 enlargement country chapters 🇦🇱🇲🇪🇲🇰🇷🇸 to support these countries’ efforts to achieve progress on the rule of law ahead of accession.    A proactive approach to promote and defend the rule of law is at the heart of the EU's success.     About 100 million persons in the EU have a disability. Many of them face hurdles when travelling.    We’ve received over 3,300 contributions to our public consultation on the European Disability Card and Parking Card – the most accessible in our history! ♿     Here’s what stood out:     ✅ 92% of respondents agreed EU action is needed to facilitate mutual recognition of disability status  ✅ 86% stated that the card should be accepted in all EU countries  ✅ 70% wanted it both physical and electronic    Thanks to this feedback our proposal meets real needs and make life easier and more accessible for people with disabilities.     Get involved and help better lawmaking!     How will the new Commissioners be chosen?    The European Commission's leadership, composed of 27 Commissioners from each EU country, serves a 5-year term. The President assigns each Commissioner specific policy areas, enabling them to shape impactful policies for the future.    Curious about the selection process? Here are the 7 steps to follow!

    • President Ursula von der Leyen recently re-elected with the number 1 on the left and the text:  Upon suggestions by EU countries, the new President-elect will adopt a list of candidates for Commissioners. 26 candidates, one from each EU country, except the President’s.
    • Main meeting room of the Europa building in Brussels with many colours in the ceiling and with the number 2 on the left and the text: This list of candidates will have to be approved by EU Heads of State and/or Government at the European Council.
    • European Parliament in Brussels during a voting session with the number 3 on the left and the text: Each candidate will then appear in hearings before the relevant committees of the European Parliament. Members of the European Parliament will vote on their suitability for the position.

    Do you love travelling across the EU?
