  • We would like to acknowledge Jesse Gonzales, a long-standing Contra Costa employee, for his perfect safety record over the past 22 years with the company! As a voltage technical foreman, Jesse has worked on new builds and completed building rehabilitation projects at a well-respected hospital in the Fresno area. Jesse attributes his perfect safety record to his extensive training. On a daily basis, he adopts effective practices, such as following area-specific rules, doing regular inspections, keeping a tidy work area, and having controls in place for tools, materials, work areas, and documents. At Contra Costa, helping to ensure worker safety is always a top priority. Some highlights of our employee safety initiatives include: -In-person onboarding for company safety policies and procedures for every new hire, on their first day of employment -Weekly safety newsletter (VOLT) including safety topics/sign-off that is reviewed on each job site as a mandatory training topic -Virtual safety training through a custom online portal -In-person training for site-specific requirements such as excavation, safe equipment use, and confined space We are also a wholly owned subsidiary of EMCOR, a Diamond partner with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP). #EMCOR #Safety #SafetyCulture #ElectricalSafety #EmployeeAppreciation

We helped sponsor Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa's annual "Drive Out Hunger Event," Golf Tournament. Proceeds will help support the nonprofit's commitment to provide 4,000 hot meals per day to individuals across the county. Our own Kyle Church and Leo Cid participated, alongside their guests Chris Jones and Richard Fischer from PBF Energy. Loaves and Fishes volunteers serve over 251,000 meals and distribute over two hundred tons of groceries each fiscal year. Hot meals are delivered each day to five Contra Costa cities: Antioch, Oakley, Pittsburg, Martinez, and Walnut Creek. We are based in Martinez and always take pride in being able to support organizations that give back to our community. • We recently had a demo for a new state-of-the-art mobile wire-pulling tool at our Martinez office, with a livestream for our Fresno and Bakersfield offices. The tool is designed for easy setup and placement, which means we'll be able to use it on projects across Northern and Southern California. Here is our Superintendent Jess Padilla, and Will Porter, a representative from iTools, who helped us conduct the demo. #EMCOR #Electric #Wire #Construction #Innovation

Contra Costa Electric recently helped sponsor the annual Industrial Association of Contra Costa County Mayors' Forum held on May 21st at Zio Fraedo’s Restaurant in Pleasant Hill. The mayors of Martinez, Concord, Brentwood, and Pittsburg all shared similar goals and aspirations during the forum: welcoming new businesses to invest in their local economies, stating the need for well-paying jobs, and promoting a variety of housing choices for their communities. Each mayor also shared the challenges they are facing in finding practical solutions to the county’s growing housing needs, but overall, the forum’s collective message was one of optimism and opportunity. Contra Costa Electric has been providing commercial and industrial electrical services for businesses throughout Contra Costa County since 1946. Pictured standing is Brentwood Mayor Joel Bryant, and (l. to r.): Martinez Mayor Brianne Zorn, Pittsburg Mayor Juan Banales, and Concord Mayor Edi Birsan. #EMCOR #California #Electrical #Construction

  • We recently helped sponsor the 15th Annual Walk of Honor for Veterans held in Crockett, CA. Several of our colleagues and their families participated in the event and fundraiser, which celebrates both current service members and veterans of the US Armed Forces. This year’s walk was the largest fundraiser to date, raising $46,000 which will be split between the Viet Nam Veterans of Diablo Valley (VNDV) and Crockett Community Services District (CCSD). The VNVDV supports active and former service members, and CCSD is committed to preserving and restoring the Crockett Veterans Memorial Building. Over the past fifteen years, the event has donated more than $557,000 to these two organizations. We are proud to be able to support such important causes! #EMCOR #GiveBack #ThankYouForYourService #Veterans #ServiceMembers

  • We served as the electrical contractor for the new office building of IBEW Local 100 in Fresno, CA, designing and building low-voltage systems for the project. We were excited to be able to work with the union local that our own technicians are members of. Our team developed an efficient low-voltage system for the 12,143-square-foot union hall which will house Local 100's new offices. The design included producing system floor plans and details to help ensure optimal system performance and code compliance. One of the biggest challenges was coordinating with other building trades to help ensure low-voltage systems were properly integrated from design to installation. Timely procurement of materials and equipment to meet project deadlines was also important. Flexibility was key, as mobilizing and demobilizing work was required several times due to project delays. Even with these challenges, all systems were successfully tested and programmed in short time, followed by efficient installation and configuration of the network electronic systems. System components included: -Fire alarm -Audio/Visual -Access control  -Intrusion systems -Security cameras -Network cabling  -Assistive listening – an ADA requirement for those with special needs  -IP public address and IP phones -Wireless access points Once the systems were installed, we provided training to review navigation systems, setting alarms, utilizing security cameras, and using the AV system, projectors, microphones, and more. Then programmed phones and access control key fobs were provided for stuff. The competed project provided the IBEW building with a comprehensive low-voltage system equipped with highly effective, state of the art systems for security, safety, and functionality that met Local 100's specific needs. #EMCOR #Electrical #LowVoltage #FireAlarm #AudioVisual #SecuritySystems

  • We recently completed electrical services for a new production line at the Southern California plant of a large ice cream manufacturer. The completed line can make 200,000 ice cream bars daily! Along with intricate electrical work, our team managed other important logistical challenges, including: -Coordinating with the general contractor to gain access to sensitive areas  -Keeping the sterile line room clean by making sure every worker wore special pants, jackets, booties, and more -Planning required outages weeks in advance when production was low, so new pieces of equipment could be commissioned Electrical installations included: -Trench from the line building to the power panel PD5 transformer bank  -New four-inch underground conduit from power panel to new building  -Line drops for each piece of equipment on the production floor  -Communication fiber cable between each device and homerun to PLC for automated control  -Variable frequency drives to operate electric motors After the commissioning process was finished, energy was then provided to the sandwich line for production. Ultimately, Contra Costa Electric collaborated effectively with the general contractor and the customer to complete the project successfully. Our expertise, decades of experience, and determination helped the project wrap with little to no downtime or production loss. #EMCOR #Electrical #Construction #FoodProduction

  • We recently completed the third phase of a major project at an active hospital, renovating 10 operating rooms and two electrical rooms that contain over 25 panelboard installations. The project is being completed on the east side of the facility, impacting many of its main operating rooms. Our team has put in extra effort to minimize disruptions while also working in tight conditions with little room for supplies and equipment. Our services include: -Electrical system disconnections -Complex BIM modeling -Demolition work -Infrastructure for low-voltage cabling -Power for the building management system, controllers, transformers, and more -Fire alarm and security systems -Tele-data room including, Emergency Responder Radio Communication System -Rough-in for all technology systems -Start-up, testing, and commissioning We are anticipating Phase 4 of the renovation will start within the first quarter.
