The gears are turning behind the scenes at Canada Learning Code ⚙️and we wanted to share an exciting update with you all! We’ve officially welcomed the first 25 people to pilot something brand-new: Canada Learning Code’s Career Collective 😍 What is the Career Collective? It’s a private, member-based career platform for early to mid-career professionals who know that technology is changing how they work – but what they’re missing is trusted guidance to navigate that. That’s where we come in. It’s designed in a way that seeks to explicitly welcome those who have historically been and continue to be marginalized and underrepresented in tech, with a focus on cis women, trans women, trans men, non-binary people, and others who are marginalized because of their gender identity as well as Black, Indigenous and other Racialized people, people in low-income communities, and newcomers. What’s special about this pilot is that we’ll be building it together. Over the past couple of months (not including months of consultations, conversations and researching!) we’ve been working towards welcoming the first 25 people to pilot this with us: that means listening, learning, testing, failing, iterating and trying new things. It’s all about putting learners at the centre and narrowing in on what people really need from us to succeed as technology accelerates and affects how we work. That’s a wrap 🎬 on the Teen Ambassador Program! This week, we celebrated the wrap-up of our Teen Ambassador Program (TAP) at the RBC office in Toronto! A big shout-out to RBC Investor Services for sponsoring this incredible program for over 3 years. We’re so thankful for your dedication to providing youth with access to digital skills, and your new focus on employability and career boosters will undoubtedly make a significant impact. The event was a fantastic mix of in-person and virtual attendees, including TAP participants and their families, along with Canada Learning Code and RBC staff. The highlight of the event was the presentations by three of our TAP participants, who showcased their projects on cybersecurity—a critical and timely topic.
