Transportation infrastructure should help people get where they need to be. But because of past public policy—shaped by segregation and discrimination—highways and overpasses across America have sliced cities, hampering access to schools, public safety, medical care, and more. The Local Infrastructure Hub has helped municipalities from Montgomery, Alabama to Juneau, Alaska win federal infrastructure funds to reconnect their communities, knitting back neighborhoods separated by concrete pillars, dangerous sidewalks, and a denial of opportunities that every resident deserves.
