I was terrible in time management when I first started my company. I had notes written on pieces of paper, a seemingly endless "to do list", no calendar to speak of or one I could rely on. Starting off relationship with a client is important in attracting and retaining clients. It also sets expectations: Not only theirs, but yours. At every initial meeting with a new client (and reminding them each year at our annual meeting), I read the "Ground Rules" to them. This was a written process where I (we) listed out how we wished to work with them to do the most for them. It listed our responsibilities and then we listed theirs (ie, return calls timely, ask questions, etc.). This made our relationship stronger and allowed us to work with them on mutual terms.
