Welcome to the Linux Gamers group. This group is governed by people interested in using the Linux operating system for gaming or game creation. Since quite some time Linux is no more a niche product hostile to advanced and demanding games. With big companies like IDSoftware releasing their games also for Linux the interest and acceptance of this system has grown over time. In comparison to other systems Linux offers a couple of unique features as well as particularities and troubles when it gets down to gaming. It's the goal of this club to promote and support Linux gaming.

Let the games begin :D

I thought I would mention that Will Fight for Food has a demo out now for Linux and they are taking pre-orders for it.

Not sure if this is where I should ask but could we get stunt rally and vdrift on desura. I tried play-deb but stunt rally was very glitchy and unplayable. I tried downloading vdrift but I could not find some dependecies on ubuntu11.04 to install it.

Your best bet is to contact the developers and ask them to start the process of getting their game on Desura. They can start by creating a profile on ModDB and then hit Publish when it is all setup. It will get the game reviewed for publication on Desura.

@Protektor

Do you plan to sell Rune for Linux on Desura?

I send e-mail to Human Head Studios, but they didn't answer on my question.

That depends entirely on the developer/distributor. That is one of the old Loki titles and I bet no one knows where the source code is that they got sent back when Loki went under. The game would have to be recompiled for newer distributions. Loki games can't run these days without some major hacking and trick scripts to get them working.

Source code for Rune is available:

If you look close it says source code header files for modders. It actually doesn't do us any good.

This is not good news for me.

What you think about others Loki games on Desura?

Projectmagma.net - Myth 2 (new version)

Youtube.com - Descent 3 (new version)

Linuxgamepublishing.com - Mindrover (new version)

Ioquake3.org - Quake 3 (new version)

Utpg.org - Unreal Tournament (new version)

This is possible?

We would need to get publishing rights for all of those games in order to offer them on Desura.

To anyone that has had problems with sound in meany Desura games on GNU/Linux, add "psdsp" to the start of the launcher
command, IE: in the .desktop file for Desura.
like this:
Exec=psdsp /home/gego/games/desura/desura %U

this fixes sound in meany games..

You can add that as a global launch command in the client under tools.

Sorry, the correct line is:
Exec=/usr/bin/padsp /home/user/games/desura/desura %U

well sound problems mainly occur when you use a surround setup, otherwise it would just run fine (and i ve got surround so thanks for the comment)

I am sure most of you know it, but I thought I would mention that Oil Rush v1.0 is out now. I mention it because you had an article on it in the past.
