Never done, Candace!! Don't worry, 120 down, but thousands to go, right;-)

message 24: by Candace (new)

Candace Right, I realize you wanted to be the overachiever for a day or two, all is well; Trish or Justine will reclaim title again soon! haha! I can joke because I'm no where in this league- I bow to all of your speedy comprehensions!! ( and secretly pick best books from your reviews that I can wallow in:)
Yes Malia, always always more to go. Who made only 30-31 days in the month??

Thank, Candace, glad you enjoy the reviews, I really need to write more of them, but somehow this summer has been so busy! Have you read anything good recently? The disadvantage of reading so much, is that often times stories kind of blur into each other and I forget details quickly, unless the story was amazing or horrible...;-)

Candace When I look at your books, they don't look like good fits. But there was a read that I only rated a 3 , but I think that was a mistake because it keeps coming back to me; I keep thinking about the characters and what it had to say about communication and technology in the future. But it's not sci go at all. I think I had been reading too many heavy sci fi's and this seemed too "lite". Ok, already, it's Connie Willis's Crosstalk. I recommend it when you want a something different, romance with some great things to thing about. I don't know when it's out- got it NG.
Another favorite is a YA , The Lie Tree by Hardinge. We read this in a group of mine and EVerybody loved it. It's great writing, great story and I can't wait to read it again. Mystery/some fantasy. It's the first YA book to win the Costa Award!
Look at me go, I bet you won't ask me again. But check the reviews, I bet you see a lot of fives on these! :)

Thanks for the recommendations! I have had my eye on The Lie Tree for a while...:-)

message 28: by Candace (new)

Candace That didn't make since."they don't look like good fits" I meant, when I look at your books, it doesn't look like you enjoy the same type of books as I do. But I picked 2 of my faves of the year so far and I think they fit in with your likes!
You definitely should go for it on The Lie Tree. My group had read another book by Hardinge that they loved before I joined Cuckoo Song which is what drew them to read more Hardinge. They still talk about it! I've been keeping my eye open for a used one.

I guessed that was what you meant:-) I will definitely give The Lie Tree a go in the future!
