Paige Johnson is 80% done with The Diving Pool: Good second story too but the end left me needing a bit more description. This last story is boring so far.

"Started strong then petered out like most of her stuff that usually is at least half cozy. I misread the title story as the Divining Pool but was not let down. It's about a girl whose parents own an orphanage, though she wishes she were one of them s" Read more of this review »

A Drowned Kingdom by P.L. Stuart
“Investigation by the townsfolk found the miller's land empty. His grain mill was eerily deserted. The family's dinner was cold, left uneaten on the table. There were no signs of violence, but no signs of the inhabitants either.”

More of Willow's books…
“I am not a graceful person. I am not a Sunday morning or a Friday sunset. I am a Tuesday 2 a.m., gunshots muffled by a few city blocks, I am a broken window during February. My bones crack on a nightly basis. I fall from elegance with a dull thud, and I apologize for my awkward sadness. I sometimes believe that I don’t belong around people, that I belong to all the leap days that didn’t happen. The way light and darkness mix under my skin has become a storm. You don’t see the lightning, but you hear the echoes.”
Anna Peters

J.K. Rowling
“Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears.
"After all this time?"
"Always," said Snape.”

“But this is touching, Severus,” said Dumbledore seriously. “Have you grown to care for the boy, after all?”
“For him?” shouted Snape. “Expecto Patronum!”
From the tip of his wand burst the silver doe. She landed on the office floor, bounded once across the office, and soared out of the window. Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears.
“After all this time?”
“Always,” said Snape.”

“Cowards make the best torturers. Cowards understand fear and they can use it.”
Mark Lawrence, Prince of Thorns
