Oh, this is a great shelf pick! It's both a favorite of mine and one that holds several books I will be reading for various groups and challenges... I'd like to read these:

World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks
China Mountain Zhang by Maureen F. McHugh
Native Tongue by Suzette Haden Elgin

I'm planning to read quite a few of these for the Seasonal challenge so I'll see how many I can get through. Great choice Natasha :)

Child 44 as this is the only one on the list that i have as a proper book everything else i have as an ebook. so from them I'll have The Hunger Games and Shades of Grey: The Road to High Saffron plus if I have time then either The Stand or Under the Dome

Not getting much of a chance to read at the moment hopefully March is more kind to my reading time.

WOW - great choice Natasha, although, I find that I have read most of the classics and best ones of the group.
I think I am going to list:

I ended up reading Witch and Wizard for the adventure shelf, so I am replacing it with
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I probably won't get to the last one of these as I am trying to buddy read the unabridged edition of
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas in March, which has 1272 pages of VERY SMALL PRINT.

My choice will be Uglies by Scott Westerfeld! Might even tackle the sequel if I end up liking it :)

This is going to be hard to scale down, but these are some of the books I hope to get to in March.

(I really could list 20 or more books, but that would be ridiculous)

I recommend Ella Minnow Pea: A Novel in Letters (especially if you are new to the genre), Poison Study, and Never Let Me Go, as well as The Handmaid's Tale and The Adoration of Jenna Fox.
Gone was also a fun YA book.

So after looking at the list I find that there are several choices that interest me (as always) even though this is a genre I would usually avoid.

My top 3 picks will be:
Catching Fire
Shades of Grey: The Road to High Saffron
and
Uglies (which I have been wanting to read for some time)

I really want to read The Hunger Games since I have heard a lot about it, but it is so popular that I am 76 on my library's list, there are NO copies on swaptree, and the used copies on my usual sites are the same price as the new copies, which I am trying to avoid. Oh well.

Care- I have a copy. One of my friends at work is reading it right now but once I get it back (which shouldn't take too long), it's all yours. :)

I finally have access to a library again so I can expand my possible reads next month.

I HIGHLY recommend Shades of Grey: The Road to High Saffron, it's amazing.

I am planning on reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (Book #6).

Lynne - Do you have a copy of Witch and Wizard? I do, and I could send it to you. It is a quick read, but I would need it back this summer cuz Joe wants to read it.

I got Uglies from my school's library today so I will start with that one.

Great choice Natasha. I picked up a copy of Brave New Worldat a flea market recently so will start with that. Then maybe 1984 and Catch-22 which have both been on my TBR list for ages.

I'm going to start Uglies today. I know it is a few days early, but I didn't do so well with my Feb. reads. Maybe once I am not obsesively watching the Olympics I will get more reading done. :)

This is my first month in this group, and what a great way to start! 1984 is one of my favorite books and a great dystopia.

This month I plan to read
Fahrenheit 451 and Animal Farm.

Welcome, Natalie! I read Fahrenheit 451 not too long ago. Loved it.

Brand new to the group, and this first shelf is one I wouldn't necessarily pick up to read. However, I've found myself interesed in many more books than I thought I would. I'm looking forward to reading them :-)

Tina, I loved Hunger Games as well, and am currently reading the 2nd book: Catching Fire

I have finally made a decision Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell. It is a book I should have read a long time ago.
I will wait to choose another book once I have finished this one.

Now I haven't read the others, but have just finished Hunger Games and LOVED it! I'd recommend that it for sure :-)

I just finished Catching Fire - WOW!!

Am now reading The Day of the Triffids and after that I'm going to read Catching Fire these are both ebooks so for a real book after I've finished Child 44 I've got to choose between We , Uglies or Mortal Engines.

I am going to read Shades of Grey: The Road to High Saffron .Really want to read Catching Fire but am going to have to wait until it is available where I am!

Karen, I am reading Uglies right now and I must say it is taking me a LOOOOOONG time to get into it. I am probably enjoying it less than any of the books I have read recently. I would be interested to see if it is just me or if you agree. I have been trying to figure out what it is that I don't like but so far I can not put my finger on it. Weird, huh?

Lynn, I was not enamored with Uglies either. I gave it three stars. My biggest problem with it was that I felt it had good themes, but the author did not have a point of view on them. When I read a good book, it makes me think and I get a sense of what the author is saying or some sense of commentary (especially with dystopic novels) but I did not get that sense when I had finished that book.

Thanks, I'll think about that as I keep slogging through. I don't want to give up on it entirely because the premiss IS interesting.
