This book should be required reading for everyone. The reality of what happened in particular throughout the 19th century( and earlier) in Africa is a shameful mark on mankind. That 'explorers' prior to that, and even so-called missionaries, later were glorified through our perspective of history should be thoroughly re-examined. What went on for more than five hundred years simply cannot be rectified in less than a hundred (since it was formally stopped) and this genocide should be laid out right next to the Nazi, Turkish and Pol Pot genocides... This book provides excellent insights and invaluable factual information about something too-little studied. Great stuff to know to better understand the real history of man committing crimes against man. Shameful, disgusting, atrocious... none of those words come close to this true and unrelenting story. Why it is not mandatory reading for students explains the fact that we are culturally incapable of coming to grips with the realities of brutal and genocidal human trafficking. It is beyond words. A must read.
