I think this author is onto something. Top-notch book. I don't love most self-improvement books but the advice here is worth its weight in gold. I've I think this author is onto something. Top-notch book. I don't love most self-improvement books but the advice here is worth its weight in gold. I've read pretty much everything on emotional intelligence and this book is the best thing out there hands down. Fans of Atomic Habits will also love it's micro-behavior, habit-driven approach.
After explaining the science behind emotional intelligence and giving you the opportunity to go online and take the Emotional Intelligence Appraisal test (via passcode) the book is laid out conceptually according to what you want to work on. You pick the topic that appeals to you and then that chapter is filled with specific habits and strategies that you can employ to improve that aspect of yourself. The first section is focused on you individually. My favorites include:
- Beat Stress and Stay Calm - Make Yourself Even More Likeable - Neutralize Toxic People - Increase Your Happiness - Increase Your Confidence - Increase Your Mental Strength - Know When You're Being Lied To - Develop a Growth Mindset - Read Body Language Like a Pro - Increase Your Self-Control - Control Your Anger - Make Your Relationships Last
The second section is focused on your career. My favorites include:
- Increase Your Productivity - Become a Great Leader - Practice Mindfulness - Survive a Bad Boss - Break the Bad Habits That Are Holding You Back - Build Powerful New Success Habits - Master Conflict - Master Communication - Be Persuasive and Get Your Point Across - Accelerate Your Climb Up the Corporate Ladder
Along the way, Emotional Intelligence Habits shows you how to use emotional intelligence to form better habits that improve every important facet of your life. It gives you the tools you need to rewrite your habits and transform yourself. As you read each chapter and adopt the habits therein, you increase your abilities in the four, core emotional intelligence skills:
Self-Awareness Self-Management Social Awareness Relationship Management

You just pick and choose what you want to work on and there's plenty to go on. The author has been researching emotional intelligence for more than 20 years and it shows. I know his books have sold millions of copies and this one might even exceed that....more
