Don't you kind of hate how we've entered the decadent phase of Goodreads wherein perhaps fifty percent (or more) of the reviews written by non-teenagers and non-romancers are now naked and unabashed in their variously effective attempts at being arch, wry, meta, parodic, confessional, and/or snarky?
Don't you kind of pine (secretly, in the marrow of your gut's merry druthers) for the good ol' days of Goodreads (known then as GodFearingGoodlyReading.com) when all reviews were uniformly plainspoken, merely utilitarian, unpretentious, and -- above all else -- dull, dull, dull?
Don't you kind of hate when people say 'don't you think this way or feel that way' in an effort to goad you both psychologically and grammatically into agreeing with them?
In the words of ABBA: I do, I do, I do(, I do, I do).
Well, because the interwebs is a world in which the past stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the present (and with fetish porn), we can revisit the past in its inviolable presentness any time we wish. Or at least until this website finally tanks.
Consider (won't you?) Matt Nieberle's review of Macbeth in its entirety. I have bound it with a heavy rope and dragged it here for your perusal. (Please understand that many a sic are implied in the following reviews.)
There you have it. Refreshingly, not a review written in one of the witch's voices or alluding to Hillary and Bill Clinton or discussing the reviewer's first period. Just a primal yell unleashed into the dark wilderness of the cosmos. Yes, Mr. Nieberle is (probably) a teenager, but I admire his ability to strongarm the temptation to be clever or ironic. (Don't you?) He speaks the native language of the idk generation with an economy and a clarity that renders his convictions all the more emphatic.
Here's MICHAEL's review of the same play. You may 'know' MICHAEL; he is the 'Problems Architect' here at Goodreads. (A problematic title itself in that it implies that he designs problems... which might be the case, for all I know.)
Pure activism there. STOP the mandatory reading of plays. It's wrong, morally and academically. Plus it can really fuck up your GPA. There's no wasteful extravagance in this editorial... no fanfare, no fireworks, no linked photos of half-naked, oiled-up, big-bosomed starlets, no invented dialogues between the author and the review-writer. It's simple and memorable. Being required to read plays is wrong, and if you require anyone, under duress, to read a play then you have sinned and are going to hell, if you believe in hell. If not, you're going to the DMV.
I am also tired of all you smug spelling snobs. You damnable fascists with your new-fangled dictionaries and your fancy-schmancy spell check. Sometimes the passionate immediacy of a message overcomes its spelling limitations. Also, in this age when we are taught to respect each other's differences, it seems offensively egocentric and mean-spirited to expect others to kowtow to your petty linguistic rules. Artistic expression will free itself no matter how you try to shackle it.

But the following is by far the ne plus ultra of classic book reviewing. While succinct and without any distracting inclination to coyness or cuteness, Jo's review alludes to a bitterness so profound that it is inexpressible. One imagines a few Signet Classic Editions hacked to bits with pruning shears in Jo's vicinity.
An incrementally snarkier type might have said something like... 'I hate this play like a simile I can't come up with.' Not Jo. She speaks a raw, undecorated truth unfit for figurative language.
And there's certainly nothing wrong with that. Once in a great while, when you get neck-deep in dandified pomo hijinks, it's a nice wallow in the hog pen you're itchin' for. Thank you, Jo. I love you and your futile grasping at similes that can't approach the bilious hatred in your heart. You are mine, and I am yours. Figuratively speaking, of course.
And now here's my review:

This book shouldn't be required reading... reading plays that you don't want to read is awful.
Reading a play kinda sucks to begin with, if it was meant to be read, then it would be a novel, not a play. On top of that the teach had us students read the play aloud (on person for each character for a couple pages). None of us had read the play before. None of us wanted to read it (I made the mistake of taking the 'easy' english class for 6 years). The teacher picked students that looked like they weren't paying attention. All of this compounded to make me pretty much hate reading classics for something like 10 years (granted macbeth alone wasn't the problem).
I also hate iambic pentameter.

In my personal opinion, the play Macbeth was the worste peice ever written by Shakespeare, and this is saying quite a bit considering i also read his Romeo and Juliet. Ontop of it's already unbelievable plot, unrealistic characters and absolutly discusting set of morals, Shakespeare openly portrays Lady Macbeth as the true vilian in the play. Considering she is mearly the voice in the back round and Macbeth himself is truely committing the hideous crimes, including murder and fraud, I do not see why it is so easy to assume that Macbeth would be willing to do good instead of evil if only his wife were more possitive. I believe that this play is uterally unrealistic.

This play always holds a place in my heart and the top spot of most embarassing moments in my life. To be fair it was probably my fault as I’d never heard the superstition about not calling the “Scottish play” by name, and since it was my role I’d been shouting Macbeth Macbeth Macbeth all day. In fifth grade we did a full production of this as our class play and I was honored to be cast as Macbeth (I went to a weird school). I still have many of my monologues memorized. Because memory loves embarrassing moments. And since embarrassing photographic evidence seems necessary, embarrassing photographic evidence is precisely what you shall receive:

Anyways, after months of rehersal the big day comes and they invite every 4th and 5th grade class to come watch along with all our parents and grandparents who wanted to be proud of me for a moment. When we get to the murder scene, the fake blood bottle exploded all over my hands and costume like I'd just murdered a whole army and not one little king.
So picture very sensitive, 9 year old me in an oversized medieval cloak my mom made with blood just dripping off my hands like a waterfall as you can also see an equal amount of blood draining from my face because I am very much overthinking it.
This play is getting dark and it's all going dark for me because somewhere mid-monolouge I both passed out and threw up allllllll over my fancy cloak (choose-your-own-adventure which came first).
I'm sure other things happened that year but this pretty much occupies my entire headspace for 5th grade. Oh, and this play rules. I’m particularly fond of Kurosawa’s adaptation of it as Throne of Blood, because who amongst us doesn’t have a slight crush of Mifune and him and I have shared a role. Put that on my tombstone.
In a way, one could view this play as the predictable fall-out from men having what is essentially a dick measuring contest and trying to be all most masculine man of the manor. Or castle. Whatever. But challenging ones “manhood” is the fuel to the fire throughout the play. Lady Macbeth just needs to question his masculinity in order to manipulate him, and Macbeth calls the masculinity of his murderers into question to provoke them into offing Banquo. ‘Dispute it like a man,’ Malcolm challenges, to which Macduff replies, ‘I shall do so. But I must also feel it as a man.’ There is a direct line drawn between the cruel violence and this unhinged necessity to ‘feel it as a man,’ and an entire kingdom hangs under the knife–it is also a reminder that being a king is about putting a kingdom first, the pull of proving ones masculinity centers insecurities of the self and tumbles into tyranny.
Its a tale as old as time that still brings about political chaos when the flexing of oneself as a “strongman” throws everyone in a temper to prove they are “man enough” or whatever weird toxic notions they want to project. One might recall politicians in their own day who used the same notion around masculinity in place of a personality. It also shows the threat of ambition for power can have violent consequences if it is not kept in check. As usual, Shakespeare’s legacy lives on from the ways his themes seem to remain relevant hundreds of years later.

Macbeth is Shakespeare's darkest play not only because of the restricted palette of its images--shades of black varied with bright red blood--but also because, in the play's world of warfare and witchcraft, its hero is half-damned from the start.
Inured to violence, prone to superstition, Macbeth struggles with the hags' predictions in the depth of his soul. But his wife, fiercely ambitious, never struggles. When he is haunted by his imagination, she is steadfast: preparing everything, looking after the details, urging him on. It is only afterward, when he is thoroughly damned, coldly vicious, that she finds she cannot wash Duncan's blood off from her hands.
Among other things, this play is the portrait of a good marriage. If, that is, a good marriage can be made in hell.

تراژدی «مکبث» شرح زندگی پرحادثه ی سرداری دلیر و لایق به نام «مکبث» است؛ «دانکن»، پادشاه شریف و مهربان «اسکاتلند»، او را از میان هواخواهان خود برمیکشد، و به وی لقب و منصب میبخشد، اما «مکبث» بر اثر تلقین جادوگران، و وسوسه ی نفس، و به اغوای زن جاه طلب خویش در شبی که پادشاه میهمان ایشان هستند، او را در خواب به قتل میرساند، و با این قتل، جهنمی برای خویش به وجود میآورد؛ «مکبث» از آن پس گرفتار عذاب وجدان میشود، چندان که هر آهنگی و هر در کوفتنی او را هراسان میکند؛ سردار «مکبث»، و سردار «بانکو»، پس از شکست سپاهیان «نروژی»، و در راه بازگشت به «اسکاتلند»، با جادوگرانی روبرو میشوند، که به آنها از آینده خبر میدهند، و در حالی که «امیر کادور» زنده است، او را «سالار کادور» میخوانند، و به او میگویند: شاه خواهد شد؛ ساحران در پاسخ پرسش «بانکو»، میگویند: فرزندان تو به پادشاهی میرسند؛ دو سردار غرق در شگفتی، از ساحران جدا میشوند؛ «مکبث» در راه بازگشت، توسط پیک «دانکن» پادشاه «اسکاتلند»، باخبر میشود که «امیر کادور» به جرم بی کفایتی به اعدام محکوم شده، و ولایت «کادور» نصیب او شده است، و این پیام تکان دهنده، درستی پیشگویی ساحران را بر او ثابت میکند؛ «دانکن امیر کادور» برای تقدیر از سردار پیروز (مکبث)، به قصر او وارد میشود، تا شب را نیز در کاخ او سر کند؛ غافل از آنکه «مکبث»، با وسوسه ی همسرش «لیدی مکبث»، فرجامین شب زندگی او را تدارک دیده، «دانکن» در خوابگاه به قتل میرسد، و دستان «مکبث» و روان «لیدی مکبث»، به خون ولی نعمتشان، که به فروتنی و تواضع مشهور بوده، آلوده میشود؛ اما این پایان ماجرا نیست، و «مکبث» برای آنکه پیشگویی ساحران محقق نشود، قاتلانی را به کشتن فرزندان «بانکو» میگمارد؛ «بانکو» که بو برده، فرزندش «فلیانس» ممکن است کشته شود، او را فراری میدهد، ولی خود کشته میشود؛ «مالکوم» فرزند دانکن نیز میگریزد، تا مبادا به قتل برسد، و این بر خشم و خونخواری «مکبث» میافزاید؛ هدف بعدی او «مکداف سالار فایف» است، که او نیز از «اسکاتلند» بگریخته، و به جمع مخالفان «مکبث» پیوسته است؛ اما «مکبث» کاخ «مکداف» را به آتش میکشد، و زن و فرزندان سالار «فایف» را، با قساوت به دیار عدم روانه میکند؛ اکنون «مکبث» و «لیدی مکبث» را چاپلوسان و بزدلان، دوره کرده اند، و هر آنکس که اندکی شجاعت و غیرت دارد، دو راه پیش روی خویش «گریختن از اسکاتلند»، یا «پذیرش مرگ» را دارد

The book presents the story of a nobleman who entered the path of evil. Initially, he was still undecided. Nevertheless decided to murder the king. And thus, he fell into a vicious circle of crime, from which it is impossible to get out because "blood will have blood." Just because of the archaism writing, I had to give this book some time. Otherwise found the story really astounding.
Fair is foul, and foul is fair.

عندما يتلاعب شكسبير بالألفاظ الي حدود تقنعني انني بلهاء حقا..لا اتقن الكتابة و لا حتى الكلام !!ا
الاخلاص و عدم الاخلاص ؛تظل ماكبث من افضل ما تم كتابته عن عواقبهما
هل هناك خير ضيق الأفق ؟
هل ماكبث بطل غبي؟
في رأيي نعم☆ فقد تحولت حياته إلى فوضى عارمة عندما طمس عقله..و انطلقت عواطفه و غرايزه لتتسع ثغرة واهنة في شخصيته..و تتحكم في اختياراته
هل ماكبث بطل شرير ؟ 💀
سؤال حير النقاد لقرون رغم انه قتل ملكه دون مبرر كافي..اندفع في اغتصاب العرش و قتل مرارا ليصل للسلطة و يتمكن منها..كل ما سبق لا يتوافق مع اي مباديء أخلاقية..بل يتوافق فقط مع طموح ليدي ماكبث
لكن يظل ماكبث يرى أنه كان يرمي للخير..عن طريق وصوله لآخر طريق الشر
كانت جرائمه المتتالية دافعها الأساسي الخوف الذي ولدته جريمته الأولى..فينطلق في سلسلة جرائم على مضض..غارقا في الالم و الندم
☆و لكن اذا اردنا ان نتعرف على الصراع حقا..فلنتامل زوجته ليدي ماكبث المحرضة على كل الجرائم..تصبح نفسها مسرحا لصراع عنيف..تكتب أثناء النوم ..تغسل الدم من يديها أثناء النوم ..ليقدم شكسبير كعادته لعلم النفس هدية مبكرة

نعم هو انا و انت وهم ..هو الانسان عندما يتحقق ما تمناه ..فيندم بل و يخجل مما تمناه
♡ماكبث ♡ هي إحدى ثلاث مفضلات عندي للمارد المسرحي فهي مختصرة ..متلاحقة الأحداث.. تحتوى على تلك القوى الخارقة للطبيعة و تمثلت في نبوءة العرافات الثلاث التي تحرق الأحداث منذ البداية لكن هيهات لو فهمت شيء ..و ايضا هناك الروابط العجيبة التي تربط البطل التراجيدي الكلاسيكي بكل ما حوله..
و هي الوحيدة التي منحتها علامة كاملة رغم انني اكره الاعمال ذات البطل الشرير الا أنني اعتبرتها من ملاحم الندم
و كالعادة هي قصة حقيقية عتيقة ..لم تطبع الا بعد وفاة شكسبير بست سنوات..فهل كان المنع لأسباب سياسية؟

- lady macbeth. honestly, everything she says (especially to her husband) is so savage. she doesnt want to be a queen, she wants to be the queen. and her first scene is iconic. “unsex me.” yaaassss. ditch those bonds of femininity. be the murderous biotch we all want you to be.
- how someone born by a c-section is the key factor for determining the outcome of pretty much everything. soooo random. lol.
- that the english army thought they could hide behind tree branches and sneak up on macbeth for a surprise attack.
- the fact the macbeth believed it and actually thought it was the forest.

وتوقفت عن مقارنة كتاب مهما كانت عظمته بتلك السطور الشعرية المدهشة
وعلمت نفسي ان اتوقف عن التصرف بطفولية قائلة في سذاجة
بس ماكبث أحلى
بس ماكبث أعمق
بس ماكبث أهم
هذا كان من زمن بعيد يقترب من العشر سنوات
وفيه كان الانبهار يسيطر على كياني
ويعميني عن جماليات الأدب في كل مجال
ولكن يبقى هذا الامتنان العميق للكون
لأنه استطاع أن يقدم لذائقتي ولروحي ولكياني كله هذا العمل الذي ليس كمثله شيء
حاولت كثيرا أن أكتب عن ماكبث تحليلا يليق بها
ولكنني عجزت وعجز قلمي عن مجرد الخربشة عنها
ربما أفعل يوما
ولكن حتى الآن لا يبقى لي سوى هذا العشق الجارف لأعظم عمل أدبي على مر العصور

FAIR IS FOUL, FOUL IS FAIR
Il giusto è sbagliato, lo sbagliato è giusto, dicono le tre streghe.
E io credo sia la tragedia di Shakespeare che preferisco.
Ho sempre avuto simpatia sia per l’ambizioso sognatore Macbeth che per la sua regina disperata: mi piace questa bella, splendida coppia che coltiva i più biechi propositi e sentimenti.
Ho sempre fatto il tifo per la Scozia contro l’arrogante e prepotente Inghilterra (si può dire che la Scozia sta all’Inghilterra come l’Irlanda del Nord sta all’UK?).
Mi piace perché è più breve di molte altre, perché Verdi l’ha musicata, perché ci sono le streghe e un tizio con nome affascinante, Banquo, che gira col suo fantasma al seguito (ma certo come nome Macbeth non si batte). Mi piace per quella eccezionale scena della foresta che avanza (l’esercito procede nascosto dietro la foresta di alberi tagliati).

Ma credo che il mio sentire debba anche molto al film di Roman Polanski.
Mi pare che gli adattamenti del Macbeth per grande o piccolo schermo siano stati circa una ventina – due volte già nell’epoca del muto (entrambi americani, 1908 e 1916) – si è cimentato l’immenso Orson Welles, e il risultato è par suo, eccellente – il più recente è sontuoso, ma noioso, con una coppia spettacolare, Michael Fassbender e Marion Cotillard – Joel Cohen ha annunciato di preparare la sua versione, con Denzel Washington come protagonista, il primo Macbeth nero, e sua moglie Frances McDormand nel ruolo della lady regina.
Il film di Polanski riluce tra e su tutti.

È del 1971, io l’ho visto qualche anno dopo, in quel cinema fiorentino ai margini di San Frediano, dove si andava con rito quasi quotidiano, per poche lire si guardavano splendidi film di Hollywood nella sua stagione che preferisco (la Hollywood Renaissance della fine anni Sessanta e anni Settanta), li si vedeva e rivedeva, li potevamo richiedere e ogni giorno la programmazione era multipla, con un solo biglietto accesso a più titoli, una pacchia, una gioia. Una cultura.

Il film di Polanski squarciò un velo: fu il primo a mostrarmi il fango e lo sporco del Medioevo, corti reali incluse, e fu il primo a non censurarsi sulla violenza di questa tragedia (un numero di morti impressionante) e sul nudo. Mi fece vedere per la prima volta in azione un attore che non conoscevo, Jon Finch, che all’epoca del film non aveva ancora trent’anni (grande intuizione di Polanski aprire a volti giovani), e che una dozzina d’anni dopo ho conosciuto.
Viene da pensare che il suo approccio a questo testo, pieno di violenza sanguinosa e sanguinaria, abbia a che fare con il cruento delitto nella sua villa a opera degli adepti di Charles Manson un paio d’anni prima.

La storia, o forse leggenda, dice che Polanski e il suo amico critico teatrale Kenneth Tynan scrissero la sceneggiatura reclusi in un appartamento affittato nel quartiere di Belgravia: i due decisero di provare le scene man mano che le scrivevano, Roman nel ruolo del titolo e Tyran in quello di Banquo.
Come già nella versione di Orson Welles i soliloqui diventano voce fuori campo, un approccio più naturalistico.
La scena di nudo di lady Macbeth che s’aggira sonnambula e parla nel sonno non è motivata da voglia di stupire, ma da ricerche storiche che indicavano come all’epoca dormire nudi era abituale, spesso in compagnia di animali (nella stessa stanza, non necessariamente nello stesso letto).
John Collier: Lady Godiva (1897 circa).
La scelta shakespeariana di Polanski non entusiasmava i suoi produttori: il regista polacco veniva da successi di tutt’altro tipo. E così il budget fu chiuso solo grazie all’intervento di Hugh Hefner, il boss di Playboy. Strani percorsi, strani incroci.
Colpisce la scelta musicale effettuata da Polanski: la colonna sonora è affidata a una band inglese dell’epoca, facevano prog-rock o forse psych-folk, la Third Ear Band, e oltre a influenze medioevali, mescola musica indiana, mediorientale e jazz.
Il film fu, per restare in tono con la trama, un autentico bagno di sangue, un consistente flop. Ma nel corso del tempo, invece, si è dimostrato un successo, se non altro di critica, entrando nel magico mondo dei ‘classici’. Proprio quello che Polanski non voleva essere con questo film.
Il Macbeth cinematografico più recente è in b&w: "The Tragedy of Macbeth" diretto da Joel Coen nel 2021. Qui i due protagonisti, il Macbeth nero di Denzel Washington e la Lady Macbeth di Frances McDormand.

There are two reasons to love this play.
The first reason is Lady Macbeth. Man, that girl has got it goin’ on. Have you ever found yourself in the running for, say, a new position that’s opened up at your company, a position for which you—along with one of your equally worthy colleagues, perhaps—might qualify? You may not have given much thought to your professional advancement before, but now that this promotion has been dangled before you, it has ignited a spark of ambitious desire. Imagine the possibilities! And it is just within your grasp...if only there were a way to edge out the competition. Maybe you could sabotage a project he’s working on. Or you could discredit him by rumoring of his incompetence. Better yet, you could off him in the parking garage. But each of these strategies requires a certain level of gumption to execute, a level not everyone possesses. This is where it pays to be married to Lady Macbeth. All she would need is a mere mention of this potential uptick in your career path and she’s off and running, drafting the schematics, telling you where to stand (just outside the stairwell, across from his car, within easy reach of the tire iron lying in the corner that can be used while he’s distractedly sifting through his keys). Why doesn’t she do it herself, you ask? Well, why should she? It’s not her job. Her job is to support you, to boost your confidence, to supply that additional gumption. You’re the one who has to do the dirty work.
Lady Macbeth is an amazing character. I’ve seen reviews on here that criticize her for being the morally reprehensible of the two protagonists, planting ideas in her husband’s head that he would not have otherwise formed, encouraging him toward evil deeds that he would not have otherwise committed. I disagree. She may have made a mistake helping to plan Duncan’s murder, but if anything Lady Macbeth is the one with her moral faculties still intact—she exhibits a profound sense of remorse at the end of the play that Macbeth recognizes as nothing short of an ailment for which to seek a cure. While Macbeth is off slaughtering anyone who might threaten his regal standing, his wife is at home rubbing the fuck out of her hands until the blisters explode and she suffocates in a pool of her own pus.
The second reason to love this play is the eloquence of the language. There are passages in this play that describe human emotion so briefly yet so profoundly it triggers goosebumps. These are some of my favorites:
I said in the comments section of my Hamlet review that I was preferring Hamlet to Macbeth. While I think I prefer the character of Hamlet to that of Macbeth, I no longer stand by that statement in terms of the play itself. Macbeth really is a masterpiece.

ولدت من جديد منذ عدة سنوات.
كنت قد انقطعت عن القراءة تقريبا منذ التخرج فالعمل فالزواج و مشاغل الحياة و السفر و الربيع العربي بأخباره و همومه و مشاكله و انتكاساته و مذابحه ثم فجأة زهدت كل تلك الحياة و أحسست أن شيئا ما ينقصني. الروح لم تشبعها نشرات الأخبار و صفحات التواصل الاجتماعي و برامج التوك شو.
عدت قديما بالذاكرة لمرحلة كان فيها الكتاب صديقي و رائحة الورق إدماني و السطور غايتي و مرساي و قررت في هذه المرة ألا تكون هناك حدود للمعرفة و لا قواعد للقراءة. سأقرأ كل شيء و في كل شيء و لأبدأ بما رفضته من قبل.
أزعم أن عقلي تفتح عن ذي قبل بدرجة أنا راض عنها بصورة كبيرة و قرأت من الكتب المفيدة ما لم أكن لأعرف عنه شيئا و لو طال العمر و كان هذا الموقع الرائع الذي تعرفت به على أصدقاء لم أكن أتخيل وجودهم إلا في عالم مثالي من صنع القاريء وحده و صار لي فيه أخوة كثر و أخوات لم تلدهن أمي و لكن لكل شيء ضريبته.
أسرتني القراءة فصارت شاغلي الأول بعد عائلتي و التهمت كل وقت فراغي بأكمله و من ثم ازداد وزني في تلك السنوات الأربعة بمقدار أربعة و عشرين كيلو جراما و فشلت كل محاولات زحزحتي من مكاني لأمارس أي رياضة بعيدا عن الكتاب.
ما علاقة كل ذلك بشكسبير و مسرحيته؟ و لماذا أصدعكم يا أصدقائي بمشاكلي و حياتي و ذكرياتي؟

ماذا يعني ذلك؟
يعني أنني أقرأ بأذني لأول مرة في حياتي. أقرأ أثناء المشي كمن يمشي أثناء النوم و كأن القراءة حلم جميل يتحقق بدون مجهود يذكر مع الرياضة و بدون أن يأخذ أي منهما الوقت من الأخر فأحيانا أمشي أكثر لأنتهي من جزء معين من الكتاب فأنسى التعب و أحرق المزيد من الدهون التي راكمتها الكتب و الكسل.
خسرت سبعة كيلوجرامات خلال شهر إبريل/نيسان و أتعشم في فقدان المزيد خلال الشهور القادمة بترشيحاتكم و اختياراتكم السحرية التي تفتح لي دائما عوالم من البهجة و المعرفة.
أشكر عائلتي التي تتيح لي الوقت لممارسة عاداتي الشخصية المزعجة و تتحمل في ذلك كل مجهود و تذلل كل الصعاب كما أشكر أيضا صديقة القراءة الأخت العزيزة إسراء التي أوحت لي بقراءة الكتب المسموعة فساهمت دون أن تدري في تلك النتيجة و كانت سببا في حل المشكلة و الشكر موصول لكم أيها الأصدقاء لمن وصل إلى هذا السطر أو لم يصل فلكم مني جزيل الشكر و خالص الأمنيات بعالم مليء بالصحة و البهجة و المعرفة.

this is probably my favorite shakespeare.
witches. ladies doing murder. prophecies. what's not to love? beyond that there's the witty writing and clever wordplay and sex puns we all know and love from billy shakes.
this passes that with flying colors.
i also am super glad i read this for a class, because even though i love reading shakespeare of my own accord because it corroborates the fact that i am an Intellectual and an Academic and a Quiet Genius, there's just something about analyzing it with 18 other people (5 of whom actually read it and care) that hits different.
maybe i'll reread this knowing my presumably brilliant annotations await.
this is part of a project i'm doing where i put myself into the twisted mind of 17 year old me and review books i read then. it's a blast, both of the "from the past" and "so fun" variety.

Over the past year, I have branched out in my reading, attempting authors and genres that I had not discovered before. Recently, I read Serena by Ron Rash in which the title character is compared to Lady Macbeth. While Serena may be ruthless, I had never read the play so I could not contrast the two heroines. Another of my reading goals this year is increasing my reading of classics. Up until now, I had predominantly read modern classics, and found a worthy reason to read an older masterpiece. So it is without further adieu that I present my take on the Bard's Macbeth.
Shakespeare penned Macbeth around the year 1606 when he was already established as a reputed playwright. For this play, he chose a contemporary Scottish soldier and references the Scottish crown within the text. Yet, as in most of Shakespeare's works, the Bard was not as much concerned with the history surrounding the play, as he was with the characters themselves, their desires and motivations. Thus, Macbeth is regarded as Shakespeare's darkest tragedy.
The tale begins when Macbeth visits three witches, later of "double, double, toil, trouble" fame. They prophesy that he will become the Thane of Crowder, Thane of Glowdis, and King of Scotland. Yet, the men who hold these titles are all currently alive. Lady Macbeth plots and decides to murder all the key players who stand in the way of her husband becoming king, framing other upstanding individuals for her actions. She even goes as far as killing those who relayed news to her that King Duncan had been killed, even though she herself committed the crime. As the tale continues, the Lady now Queen continues to plot and has servants and soldiers at her disposal to do her bidding.
Meanwhile, Macbeth also grows weary of rivals to the crown and plots to eliminate anyone who goes against him. While Lady Macbeth is at ease being an evil mastermind, Macbeth reaches the point where he can not live with himself for murdering Duncan. He returns to the witches in an attempt to change the prophesy, but it is not to be. At this point, Lady Macbeth grows emotionally unstable, while Macbeth himself is no longer afraid to die in battle as penance for previous crimes committed. It is clear that Shakespeare intended for the Lady to be the more hungry individual in this drama.
As in all Shakespearean works, the text is not long but a little tedious if one is unused to old English. Because I had just read Serena, I read along quickly looking for comparisons to the two women, allowing me to be more engrossed in the prose than I might have been otherwise. At this point, Lady Macbeth grows emotionally unstable, while Macbeth himself is no longer afraid to die in battle as penance for previous crimes committed. It is clear that Shakespeare intended for the Lady to be the more hungry individual in this drama.
As in all Shakespearean works, the text is not long but a little tedious if one is unused to old English. Because I had just read Serena, I read along quickly looking for comparisons to the two women, allowing me to be more engrossed in the prose than I might have been otherwise. Shakespeare's words remain timeless over 400 years later, deeming Macbeth, as well as his other works, worthy reads. This play was fun because the characters were so dark, encouraging me to read more Shakespearean tales in the future.

Swelter'd venom sleeping got,
Fillet of a fenny snake,
Eye of newt and toe of frog,

هي قصة جنرال جيش، يكافئه الملك بحكم مدينة
لكنه ينقلب عليه ويقتله، لطموحٍ ونبوءة خبيثة
ليصبح ملكا بالانقلاب، ويده ستخضب بدماء عديدة
انها لعبة العروش...تلك اللعبة المقيتة
من اقترف في سبيلها جريمة..ستجر عليه خطيئة تلو الخطيئة
اه يا جورج آر آر مارتين..لقد ظلمناك ظلما مبينا
لقد فاقك شكسبير دموية...وقتل الضيف ولم يراع حقوق المُضيفة
هو انا عشان قريت مسرحيتين، لن اكتب مراجعات سوي بتلك الطريقة؟
عذرا مرة اخري عزيزي القارئ..إن العادات لا تموت إلا ميتة بطيئة
ساكتفي في الريفيو علي سبع ملاحظات علي مكابث لاحظتها واعجبتني
فلا اعتقد اني اصلح للكتابة بشكل متعمق عن هذا الرجل العبقري الذي مازال اعماله بعد 400 عاما خالدة وعجيبة
أولا : النبوءة والسحر

بصراحة ... بسبب وجود بها الساحرات بدات بتلك المسرحية بعد "حلم ليلة منتصف صيف" و "دقة بدقة" ، حيث ان الاولي كانت عن قصص الجنيات الخيالية والتي اعترف انها تروق لي مثل هذ�� الغرائبيات والفانتازي الخفيف
هذه الرواية بها ساحرات...و بها نبوءة...بل ان مشهدها الأول يبدأ بالساحرات والحوار اخذ اكثر من وقته عن التنبؤات والسحر
ولاحظ أن النبوءة ليست أمرا حسنا بل هو من الشيطان..من ثلاث ساحرات شمطاوات وارواح شريرة
ملاحظتي بالنسبة للامر هو أن تنبؤات الساحرات لم تثبت صحتها ، بل كل ما فعله كلام الساحرات بأول الحكاية هو شيئا حدث بالفعل وقد قرره الملك ولكن قبل ان يسمعه ماكبث
ربما بالسحر الاسود او حتي بمجرد علم النفس فعلا يمكنك أن تعرف مايدور بنوايا من امامك
ولكن علم الغيب عند ربي ومحاولات خرق الغيب بطريقة شيطانية لن تجر سوي المصائب
فباقي النبوءة كانت كلام غيبي لم يؤدي سوي لشرود ذهن ماكبث وتلاعب طموحه...وطموح زوجته بعقله
مما أدي لدمار حيوات كثيرة..مما ادي لتحوله 180 درجة من رجل اخلاقي لغير اخلاقي
فلا انكر انني استبشرت خيرا -خاصا اني لا اعرف احداث المسرحية علي الاطلاق- عندما قرأت اول مشهد لماكبث حتي قبل النبوءة مباشرا
كما قالت جي كي رولينج في هاري بوتر بعدها باعوام كثيرة
ان الانسان هو من يحقق النبوءة بأفعاله
وكما قالت مسرحية "الي الغابة" التي قرأتها مؤخرا
"احذر الطريق الذي تسلكه الأمنيات..فالأمنيات تتحقق..ولها ثمن"
لقد تنبأت الساحرات لماكبث المُلك..فصار ملكا بالأنقلاب...بالخطيئة والدماء
تنبأت الا يهزمه أحد وضعته أمرأه...فزاد طغيانه وتكبره وعدوانه
ولكن...لاحظ وصف شكل الروح الأخيرة التي حضرت وتنبأت بأمر الغابة التي ستتقدم للأمام, وهي النبوءة الأخيرة..ستلاحظ كم كان دقيقا شكسبير في وصف السحر..وأنه قد يكون صحيحا
ولكنه ايضا له ثمن
** ملاحظة جانبية **
لعنة ماكبث
هل تعلم ان تلك المسرحية يصاحبها لعنة فلا احد ينطق لفظ ماكبث علي خشبة المسرح اثناء الاعدادات لها لأنه يجلب سوء الحظ بناء علي حوادث مؤسفة حقيقية؟
لا يوجد تأكيد عن حالات قتل بالطبع..ولكن هناك شائعة شهيرة أن ابراهام لينكلون كان يقرأ مسرحيته المفضلة "ماكبث" ليلة ذهابه للمسرحية التي تم اغتياله فيها
لذا يطلقوا عليها "المسرحية الاسكتلندية" أو مسرحية الشاعر

من تلك الأسباب العجيبة ان البعض يقول أن شكسبير استلهم بعض كلمات الساحرات الثلاثة من وكر لساحرات حقيقيات مما جعل المسرحية ملعونة

في اول ريفيو "إلي داخل الغابة" كتبت خطئا مايلي
"وحتي خطيئة أدم الأولي..أطاع حواء وأكلا من تفاحة الشجرة الوحيدة المحرمة عليهما في الجنة"
وتلقيت لفت انتباه من اثنان من زملائنا بالجودريدز المحترمات باستياء من "أطاع حواء" وخاصا ان ليس هناك سند لأن حواء هي من ألحت علي أدم في القرأن
وبمراجعة سريعة
وجدت أنهما يقولان الحقيقة
-اهدي شوية بقي في السجع ده خنقتنا-
ولكن دعونا نتفق ان بعض الكتب الدينية المغلوطة وحتي الاسرائيليات تعج بصورة سيئة لحواء وانها هي اصل الشر وانها من اغوي ادم للخطيئة الأولي بما لم يأتي في الكتب السماوية من ذلك بسلطان
ودعونا لا ننس ان القرن السادس عشر كان من تلك القرون التي لا يتم فيها الاهتمام بالمرأة بشكل كبير وبها اضطهاد وحتي حرق ��لساحرات
لقد جعلها شكسبير هنا هي الحية التي اغوت ماكبث علي ان يقتل الملك ويصير هو ملك البلاد في حوار نفسي طويل بينها وبين نفسها منذ ان علمت من رسالة منه بنبوءة الساحرات الخبيثة
قدم شكسبير صورة قوية جدا للمرأة هنا..ولكنها ماكرة وخبيثة وصلبة بحق..طامعة ولها القدرة علي التلاعب بعقول الرجال
قد تكون نموذج فعلا سواء في الحقيقة والتاريخ او الادب...قد يراها البعض نموذج سئ وللحق يقال ليس بالرواية نموذج مقابل لها
ولكنها نموذج حقيقي وموجود
قد لا تكون حواء هي فعلا من اقنع ادم ان يأكلا من التفاحة
ولكن هيلين طروادة والملكة ماري وغيرها الكثير كانوا علامات قوية في التاريخ وادوا لنقاط فاصله به
ولكن شكسبير في الفصل الاخير من تلك المسرحية يقدم لنا نهاية بعدالة شعرية لها..لا انكر انني تعاطفت معها بالنهاية وحزنت لما ألت عليه
لدي ضعف ما تجاه مثل تلك الشخصيات عندما تضعف..هل قلت لك من قبل ان "سيرسي" هي شخصيتي المفضلة في جيم اوف ثرونز التي لم تمت بعد؟

الطموح..والميكيافيللية

الصراع النفسي بين ماكبث وزوجته لا شئ بجوار الصراع بداخله قبل أن يقتل الملك
سطور عديدة بين ماكبث ونفسه حول الجبن والضعف والحكم والطموح
ومبادئ ميكيافيللي التي يتأثر بها ماكبث -ويذكرها- صراحة بالأحداث كي يصل لغايته
لم أتخيل ان اقرأ بمسرحية كل هذه السطور التي تتغلغل في النفسية بهذا الشكل
الطموح الرجولي بالمُلك متأثرا بنبوءة شيطانية واطماع نسائية مكتوب بشكل أقوي من خبراء علوم النفسية
لا أعتقد أن ماكبث كما قالت دعاية الرواية رجل غير اخلاقي...بالعكس هو رجل اخلاقي ولكن بسبب الساحرات واغواء الطموح المرتفع المغالي فيه...ودفعه بزيادة باطماع زوجته تحول الي ما تحول اليه
ويظهر لك شكسبير هئا التحول خطوة بخطوة
السطور كثيرة التي تصلح للاقتباسات هنا احترت ما يمكن الأختيار منها ولكن بحق اقرأوا المسرحية , أعتقد انها من مسرحياته التي تستحق

"قانون الضيافة"

هنا شعرت ان فعلا جورج آر آر مارتين ودموية حفل الزواج الأحمر الذي كتبه في سلسلته لم يأتي من فراغ..بل له اصول في الأدب
لقد قرأت مؤخرا -قبل ان افكر بجدية القراءة لشكسبير علي الاطلاق- أن مارتين ينتقد منتقديه عن كثرة القتل باحداث سلسلته الأشهر "أغنية الجليد والنار" /لعبة العروش وقال ألم تقرأوا شكسبير يوما؟
اتذكر انه استشهد بهاملت وقتها التي تم قتل فيها اغلب الأبطال..بل واتذكر حلقة سيمبسون التي كان بها بارودي "محاكاة ساخرة" لقصص شكسبير وان الابطال يموتون بها دائما
أعتقد أن مشهد قتل الملك بتلك المسرحية كان من ابشع المشاهد الدموية التي قرأتها في حياتي..لم يكتفي بخرق قانون الضيافة بل وفعل ما هو أسوأ
المشهد والاسلوب وكيف يعمي الانسان من اجل طموحه كان بشعا بحق
الدماء التي لن يمحيها المياه , مع ما حدث للملكة بالنهاية كتبها شكسبير بطريقة فعلا يحق لها أن تخلد في التاريخ

لعبة العروش

في سبيل الكرسي قد نرتكب بعض الخطايا الصعيرة..كذبة ما..وشاية..ن��اق..ولكن
الخطيئة تجر خطيئة تجر خطيئة
طالما لم تعترف وتتوب من الخطيئة الأولي وقمت بتبريرها..أو حتي ألقاء لومها علي غيرك
فستظل فيها..وستضاعفها ايضا
مابالك ان كانت الخطيئة سبب كونك ملكا للبلاد؟
مابالك لو كانت هذه الخطيئة دماء؟
جاء ماكبث ملكا للبلاد بانقلاب
وليحافظ علي هذا الملك الوهن تحول لديكتاتور
ولأن يديه ملوثتان بدماء
لن يذهبهما بعض الماء
كما قالت زوجته بعد فعلتهما الشنعاء
في المسرحية شكل تشاؤمي للغاية عن استحالة وجود ملك عادل يديه غير مخضبتان بالدماء طوال سير الحياة
وكيف ان الحاكم الديكتاتوري سيخرج عليه ثورات لأنه سيهمل في البلاد, فلا وقت لديه سوي البحث عن اعداءه وقتلهم وتصفيتهم والتمسك بالكرسي والحكم والسلطة فحسب
ملاحظة مهمة أكررها : أحداث المراجعة لا علاقة لها بالواقع , وأي تشابه هو من قبيل الصدفة او محض خيال ليس اكثر

ولكني جديد العهد به..والفضل يرجع لحلم ليلة منتصف صيفية
-لقد صرت سخيفا بحق, أعلم ذلك-
يجب ان اعترف ان هذا الشئ هو مايرفع تقييمي لاعمال شكسبير ببراعة..فبعد كل الصراعات التي تحدث تجد رسالة وهدف نبيل للغاية
ربما اذا ما كان قد قرأها بعض الحكام لأتعظوا..ولكن يبدو أنهم يتوقفون عن القراءة بعد الفصل الثاني
أما عن زوجة ماكبث

الدقة التاريخية

علي فكرة ماكبث ملك حقيقي لاسكتلندا وخلف الملك دنكان بعد ان قتله في معركة حربية في 1040...تزوج من بعدها من حفيدة الملك كينيث الثالث ليعزز منصبه علي العرش
وحكم لمدة 14 عاما كانت فترة حكمه تتسم بالهدوء والعدل بل وقد سافر الي روما 1050 في "يوبيل" للعفو والغفران
وبالفعل بسبب ان سيوارد اراد ان يعيد أبن دنكان "مالكوم" في 1054 لعرش ملك اسكتلدنا قام بشن حرب علي ماكبث والذي تم قتله علي ��د مالكوم في 1057
لقد قام شكسبير بتغيير التاريخ
ولكن في سبيل عظة عن لعبة العروش والطموح وخطيئة القتل والديكتاتورية في اطار روائي, عذرا مسرحية تراجيديا
نعم حاول وضع نبوءة في صالح ملك أسكتلندا وانجلترا وقتها لرابطة صداقة بينهما "حيث أن الملك جيمس فعلا من احفاد بانكو كما تنبأت السحرة" ولكن لاحظ أن التغييرات لم تكن كارثية كما فعلت بعض الروايات الحديثة في التاريخ الموثق في الكتب السماوية بحجة المعالجة الروائية
فلم يظهر ماكبث مسلما مثلا أو كان يسعي لحكم أيطاليا
لذلك جائت تلك التراجيديا بهذه القوة وخلدها التاريخ
فهي عن النفس البشرية..عن لعبة العروش والديكتاتورية
عن النبوءات والاطماع والعدالة الشعرية

ولكن علم الغيب عند ربي ومحاولات خرق الغيب بطريقة شيطانية لن تجر سوي المصائب
فباقي النبوءة كانت كلام غيبي لم يؤدي سوي لشرود ذهن ماكبث وتلاعب طموحه...وطموح زوجته بعقله
مما أدي لدمار حيوات كثيرة..مما ادي لتحوله 180 درجة من رجل اخلاقي لغير اخلاقي
فلا انكر انني استبشرت خيرا -خاصا اني لا اعرف احداث المسرحية علي الاطلاق- عندما قرأت اول مشهد لماكبث حتي قبل النبوءة مباشرا
كما قالت جي كي رولينج في هاري بوتر بعدها باعوام كثيرة
ان الانسان هو من يحقق النبوءة بأفعاله
وكما قالت مسرحية "الي الغابة" التي قرأتها مؤخرا
"احذر الطريق الذي تسلكه الأمنيات..فالأمنيات تتحقق..ولها ثمن"
لقد تنبأت الساحرات لماكبث المُلك..فصار ملكا بالأنقلاب...بالخطيئة والدماء
تنبأت الا يهزمه أحد وضعته أمرأه...فزاد طغيانه وتكبره وعدوانه
ولكن...لاحظ وصف شكل الروح الأخيرة التي حضرت وتنبأت بأمر الغابة التي ستتقدم للأمام, وهي النبوءة الأخيرة..ستلاحظ كم كان دقيقا شكسبير في وصف السحر..وأنه قد يكون صحيحا
ولكنه ايضا له ثمن

لعنة ماكبث
هل تعلم ان تلك المسرحية يصاحبها لعنة فلا احد ينطق لفظ ماكبث علي خشبة المسرح اثناء الاعدادات لها لأنه يجلب سوء الحظ بناء علي حوادث مؤسفة حقيقية؟
لا يوجد تأكيد عن حالات قتل بالطبع..ولكن هناك شائعة شهيرة أن ابراهام لينكلون كان يقرأ مسرحيته المفضلة "ماكبث" ليلة ذهابه للمسرحية التي تم اغتياله فيها
لذا يطلقوا عليها "المسرحية الاسكتلندية" أو مسرحية الشاعر

من تلك الأسباب العجيبة ان البعض يقول أن شكسبير استلهم بعض كلمات الساحرات الثلاثة من وكر لساحرات حقيقيات مما جعل المسرحية ملعونة

في اول ريفيو "إلي داخل الغابة" كتبت خطئا مايلي
"وحتي خطيئة أدم الأولي..أطاع حواء وأكلا من تفاحة الشجرة الوحيدة المحرمة عليهما في الجنة"
وتلقيت لفت انتباه من اثنان من زملائنا بالجودريدز المحترمات باستياء من "أطاع حواء" وخاصا ان ليس هناك سند لأن حواء هي من ألحت علي أدم في القرأن
وبمراجعة سريعة
وجدت أنهما يقولان الحقيقة
-اهدي شوية بقي في السجع ده خنقتنا-
ولكن دعونا نتفق ان بعض الكتب الدينية المغلوطة وحتي الاسرائيليات تعج بصورة سيئة لحواء وانها هي اصل الشر وانها من اغوي ادم للخطيئة الأولي بما لم يأتي في الكتب السماوية من ذلك بسلطان
ودعونا لا ننس ان القرن السادس عشر كان من تلك القرون التي لا يتم فيها الاهتمام بالمرأة بشكل كبير وبها اضطهاد وحتي حرق ��لساحرات
لقد جعلها شكسبير هنا هي الحية التي اغوت ماكبث علي ان يقتل الملك ويصير هو ملك البلاد في حوار نفسي طويل بينها وبين نفسها منذ ان علمت من رسالة منه بنبوءة الساحرات الخبيثة
قدم شكسبير صورة قوية جدا للمرأة هنا..ولكنها ماكرة وخبيثة وصلبة بحق..طامعة ولها القدرة علي التلاعب بعقول الرجال
قد تكون نموذج فعلا سواء في الحقيقة والتاريخ او الادب...قد يراها البعض نموذج سئ وللحق يقال ليس بالرواية نموذج مقابل لها
ولكنها نموذج حقيقي وموجود
قد لا تكون حواء هي فعلا من اقنع ادم ان يأكلا من التفاحة
ولكن هيلين طروادة والملكة ماري وغيرها الكثير كانوا علامات قوية في التاريخ وادوا لنقاط فاصله به
ولكن شكسبير في الفصل الاخير من تلك المسرحية يقدم لنا نهاية بعدالة شعرية لها..لا انكر انني تعاطفت معها بالنهاية وحزنت لما ألت عليه
لدي ضعف ما تجاه مثل تلك الشخصيات عندما تضعف..هل قلت لك من قبل ان "سيرسي" هي شخصيتي المفضلة في جيم اوف ثرونز التي لم تمت بعد؟

الصراع النفسي بين ماكبث وزوجته لا شئ بجوار الصراع بداخله قبل أن يقتل الملك
سطور عديدة بين ماكبث ونفسه حول الجبن والضعف والحكم والطموح
ومبادئ ميكيافيللي التي يتأثر بها ماكبث -ويذكرها- صراحة بالأحداث كي يصل لغايته
لم أتخيل ان اقرأ بمسرحية كل هذه السطور التي تتغلغل في النفسية بهذا الشكل
الطموح الرجولي بالمُلك متأثرا بنبوءة شيطانية واطماع نسائية مكتوب بشكل أقوي من خبراء علوم النفسية
لا أعتقد أن ماكبث كما قالت دعاية الرواية رجل غير اخلاقي...بالعكس هو رجل اخلاقي ولكن بسبب الساحرات واغواء الطموح المرتفع المغالي فيه...ودفعه بزيادة باطماع زوجته تحول الي ما تحول اليه
ويظهر لك شكسبير هئا التحول خطوة بخطوة
السطور كثيرة التي تصلح للاقتباسات هنا احترت ما يمكن الأختيار منها ولكن بحق اقرأوا المسرحية , أعتقد انها من مسرحياته التي تستحق

هنا شعرت ان فعلا جورج آر آر مارتين ودموية حفل الزواج الأحمر الذي كتبه في سلسلته لم يأتي من فراغ..بل له اصول في الأدب
لقد قرأت مؤخرا -قبل ان افكر بجدية القراءة لشكسبير علي الاطلاق- أن مارتين ينتقد منتقديه عن كثرة القتل باحداث سلسلته الأشهر "أغنية الجليد والنار" /لعبة العروش وقال ألم تقرأوا شكسبير يوما؟
اتذكر انه استشهد بهاملت وقتها التي تم قتل فيها اغلب الأبطال..بل واتذكر حلقة سيمبسون التي كان بها بارودي "محاكاة ساخرة" لقصص شكسبير وان الابطال يموتون بها دائما
أعتقد أن مشهد قتل الملك بتلك المسرحية كان من ابشع المشاهد الدموية التي قرأتها في حياتي..لم يكتفي بخرق قانون الضيافة بل وفعل ما هو أسوأ
المشهد والاسلوب وكيف يعمي الانسان من اجل طموحه كان بشعا بحق
الدماء التي لن يمحيها المياه , مع ما حدث للملكة بالنهاية كتبها شكسبير بطريقة فعلا يحق لها أن تخلد في التاريخ

في سبيل الكرسي قد نرتكب بعض الخطايا الصعيرة..كذبة ما..وشاية..ن��اق..ولكن
الخطيئة تجر خطيئة تجر خطيئة
طالما لم تعترف وتتوب من الخطيئة الأولي وقمت بتبريرها..أو حتي ألقاء لومها علي غيرك
فستظل فيها..وستضاعفها ايضا
مابالك ان كانت الخطيئة سبب كونك ملكا للبلاد؟
مابالك لو كانت هذه الخطيئة دماء؟
جاء ماكبث ملكا للبلاد بانقلاب
وليحافظ علي هذا الملك الوهن تحول لديكتاتور
ولأن يديه ملوثتان بدماء
لن يذهبهما بعض الماء
كما قالت زوجته بعد فعلتهما الشنعاء
في المسرحية شكل تشاؤمي للغاية عن استحالة وجود ملك عادل يديه غير مخضبتان بالدماء طوال سير الحياة
وكيف ان الحاكم الديكتاتوري سيخرج عليه ثورات لأنه سيهمل في البلاد, فلا وقت لديه سوي البحث عن اعداءه وقتلهم وتصفيتهم والتمسك بالكرسي والحكم والسلطة فحسب
ملاحظة مهمة أكررها : أحداث المراجعة لا علاقة لها بالواقع , وأي تشابه هو من قبيل الصدفة او محض خيال ليس اكثر

-لقد صرت سخيفا بحق, أعلم ذلك-
يجب ان اعترف ان هذا الشئ هو مايرفع تقييمي لاعمال شكسبير ببراعة..فبعد كل الصراعات التي تحدث تجد رسالة وهدف نبيل للغاية
ربما اذا ما كان قد قرأها بعض الحكام لأتعظوا..ولكن يبدو أنهم يتوقفون عن القراءة بعد الفصل الثاني

الدقة التاريخية

علي فكرة ماكبث ملك حقيقي لاسكتلندا وخلف الملك دنكان بعد ان قتله في معركة حربية في 1040...تزوج من بعدها من حفيدة الملك كينيث الثالث ليعزز منصبه علي العرش
وحكم لمدة 14 عاما كانت فترة حكمه تتسم بالهدوء والعدل بل وقد سافر الي روما 1050 في "يوبيل" للعفو والغفران
وبالفعل بسبب ان سيوارد اراد ان يعيد أبن دنكان "مالكوم" في 1054 لعرش ملك اسكتلدنا قام بشن حرب علي ماكبث والذي تم قتله علي ��د مالكوم في 1057
لقد قام شكسبير بتغيير التاريخ
ولكن في سبيل عظة عن لعبة العروش والطموح وخطيئة القتل والديكتاتورية في اطار روائي, عذرا مسرحية تراجيديا
نعم حاول وضع نبوءة في صالح ملك أسكتلندا وانجلترا وقتها لرابطة صداقة بينهما "حيث أن الملك جيمس فعلا من احفاد بانكو كما تنبأت السحرة" ولكن لاحظ أن التغييرات لم تكن كارثية كما فعلت بعض الروايات الحديثة في التاريخ الموثق في الكتب السماوية بحجة المعالجة الروائية
فلم يظهر ماكبث مسلما مثلا أو كان يسعي لحكم أيطاليا
لذلك جائت تلك التراجيديا بهذه القوة وخلدها التاريخ
فهي عن النفس البشرية..عن لعبة العروش والديكتاتورية
عن النبوءات والاطماع والعدالة الشعرية

Poor old Macbeth. You were doomed from the very first act. Your mistake was believing in hearsay, prophecy and half-truths. You were an excellent Thane, noble and strong. But you were never meant to be King. You should never have told your wife about the witches, that way the fires of your ambition would never have been fanned.
You only committed in halves to the witches advice. You needed to go the full way or not at all. For you are bloody. Your butcher’s work in King Duncan’s tent saw to that. Your soldier’s work on the battlefield also saw to that. You weren’t afraid to get your hands dirty and in this you were bold and daring, but none would ever call one such as you resolute. Your conscience got the better of you, it made you weak and vulnerable, and because of this you failed. Your rule failed. Your sword arm failed. You needed to go the full way or not at all.
Desperation, paranoia and butchery are what followed your indecisiveness. You killed those that could have been loyal; you killed those that could have remained friends. And it was your doom. You created your own haunting, your own end. You listened to the advice of the witches when you should have followed your own path, your own mind. Their words killed you. Your faith in them killed you. Macduff was defeated at your feet, but your fear conquered you. Their words unmanned you.
Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! Beware Macduff.
Beware the thane of Fife. Dismiss me. Enough.

Still my favourite Shakespeare play? I think so.
Language-wise, Shakespeare is always a master. He invented many a word and phrase that we all use even today, centuries later. But some of the stories and characters are better than others. Macbeth, in my opinion, sits near the top of the pile. The witches and their fateful prophecies, the bloody betrayals, the madness of Lady Macbeth, and the tragedy of Macbeth himself. Bringing about his own prophesised downfall, step by step. Nothing short of genius.
Language-wise, Shakespeare is always a master. He invented many a word and phrase that we all use even today, centuries later. But some of the stories and characters are better than others. The play starts with the standard three witches, (which Shakespeare practically invented) plotting the assassination of Duncan. Why the King of Scotland is to be killed is never explained, the weird sisters (an appropriate name ) maybe they just like to cause evil, such a brilliant scene to see and absorb. Their tool is Macbeth , a lord and very ambitious man, married to an even more woman, Scotland in the mid 11th century is barbaric, bloody and with the greedy nobles perpetually fighting for the throne, the sword rules here. The English and Norsemen outsiders also battle for influence in that rough land , the tumultuous conflicts always ready to appear, death comes not infrequently. A great opportunity occurs when the king is to visit Macbeth's castle, in order to thank him for defeating the rebel Macdonwald. The Lady Macbeth urges her husband to kill the trusting Duncan , a weak ruler and seize the throne from his cousin. She implies that Macbeth is not a man and cowardly if he doesn't eliminate Duncan; hesitating his mind in turmoil can he kill his own kin, already a very important man, treachery wins ... deciding he wants the glory of the title, power is a magnet for the rogue . After the bloody deed is done, Macbeth is almost reluctant to slaughter more and more of his perceived enemies...Including the noble Macduff's whole family (Macduff had fled south of the border), there are an endless supply of opponents. But the former monarch's sons had escaped, Malcolm the eldest to England, Donalbain the youngest to Ireland, they can never forget... revenge will be so sweet. The deteriorating Lady Macbeth begins to sleepwalk, trying to wash the imaginary blood off her hands, when observed by her husband and doctor she says "Out, damned spot, out I say," a sad sight to behold for the new king, the strong woman evaporates, his circle of friends diminish as loneliness prevails. The tide turns a storm is brewing, forces are gathering in that troubled kingdom, Malcolm and Macduff, with the help of 10,000 English soldiers are coming. Macbeth is confident that he cannot be killed, the witches have promised him, would they lie? One of the greatest plays ever performed on any stage, Shakespeare at the top of his abilities contributes to the world of illusion.

Mi desconcierto mientras leía Macbeth me llevó a buscar información sobre la obra. De ella se dice que es la tragedia más corta de entre todas las que escribió Shakespeare y que se sospecha que pueda deberse a que se haya perdido buena parte de ella.
Dada la fama del autor y de esta obra en concreto, esto que leí me tranquilizó un tanto pues me estaba pareciendo una obra como a medio hacer, sin pulir, un simple esbozo y con un argumento endeble. Al final, ni la moraleja me satisfizo: ¿que los malos también lloran? Por favor, William.
Eso sí, los personajes son atractivos, especialmente Lady Macbeth, y Shakespeare siempre tiene cosas interesantes que decir y una forma bella de hacerlo.
Dada la fama del autor y de esta obra en concreto, esto que leí me tranquilizó un tanto pues me estaba pareciendo una obra como a medio hacer, sin pulir, un simple esbozo y con un argumento endeble. Al final, ni la moraleja me satisfizo: ¿que los malos también lloran? Por favor, William.

"Creí escuchar una voz que me decía: Macbeth, tú no puedes dormir, porque has asesinado al sueño."
Sólo he leído cuatro libros de William Shakespeare, puesto que no es el teatro uno de las formas literarias que más me atraen, aunque cuando lo hago, suelo recalar en los más importantes como el gran bardo inglés, los griegos y aquellos autores cuyas obras de teatro hayan trascendido como las mejores de la historia (comencé a leer “Esperando a Godot” de Samuel Beckett y recuerdo también “Los poseídos” de Albert Camus inspirada en “Los demonios” de Fiódor Dostoievski). Tengo muy pendiente aún leer las obras de teatro de Oscar Wilde (sólo leí “Salomé”) o de Antón Chejov, pero bueno, no es lo que más me atrae aunque aún lo intento.
En este caso, sí quería releer “Macbeth” ya que es mi tragedia preferida de William Shakespeare por ser la más oscura y perversa de todas. Creo que se sitúa en ese tenor por sobre “Hamlet” y “Rey Lear” a las que considero geniales pero que no igualan a esta.
Al menos es mi humilde opinión de neófito en la materia.
Veo en el personaje de Macbeth a un hombre tironeado entre el bien y el mal.
Él es una especie de antepasado de Henry Jekyll y considero que Shakespeare dotó a este personaje de los clásicos elementos que distinguen a aquellos que luchan consigo mismos y que poseen claras características que definen a la temática del doble en la literatura, puesto que lo que Macbeth debe hacer (aunque no quiera) recae en su conciencia quien le juega malas pasadas puesto que está anclada en el bien: "Creí escuchar una voz que me decía: Macbeth, tú no puedes dormir, porque has asesinado al sueño."
Lamentablemente, el pobre hombre sucumbe en primer lugar a sus debilidades, ya que es un hombre dotado de un débil carácter, pero para empeorar las cosas, es su esposa, Lady Macbeth, la que lo arrastra hacia lo peor ya que su influjo es negativo y mortal.
Diría yo que Lady Macbeth supera en perversidad y crueldad a las tres brujas con las que Macbeth se cruzas en dos oportunidades. Su ambición no tiene límites, puesto que es ella la que quiere muerto a Duncan, el Rey de Escocia y a todo aquel que se interponga en su carrera ambiosa al trono.
Su insidiosa manera de influenciar a su marido hará que todo se torne oscuro y es la traición, algo muy utilizado por Shakespeare en sus tragedias la que guiará a estos dos oscuros personajes al desenlace fatal. Ya en “Rey Lear” la traición juega un papel preponderante y en el caso de “Macbeth” es el desencadenante de una serie de asesinatos que teñirán de sangre a Escocia.
Lo fantástico y sobrenatural también están presente en esta como en otras tragedias del bardo inglés, especialmente los fantasmas, como el del asesinado Banquo, cuya misión es atormentar a Macbeth. La vida de Macbeth es un verdadero suplicio: débil, influenciable, traidor, asesino y atormentado.
Es realmente una tragedia, tal como nos la cuenta William Shakespeare con toda su genialidad.

Me ha encantado el tono brujeril, Lady Macbeth como la voz tentadora y que termina de empujar a un hombre hambriento por su ambición hasta lo más hondo de la tortura mental de sus acciones. Y sí, también la muy manida lucha entre el bien y el mal, los monólogos y las conversaciones sobre la moralidad, el honor y la lealtad.
Después de haber leído dos veces Romeo y Julieta me la vivía odiando profundamente la idea de tener que leer algo más de Shakespeare porque pensaba que me encontraría con otra lectura así de cursi, ridícula y extremada e innecesariamente trágica para mi gusto. Una vez más compruebo que está bien dejar a un lado los caprichos y madurar, porque esto me ha gustado más y me ha parecido una toma de contacto más creíble y coherente con los personajes.
Macbeth utiliza como motor de arranque la profecía de tres brujas que dicen que nuestro querido protagonista va a ser coronado como rey en un futuro cercano. Inmediatamente esto será para Macbeth motivo y razón suficiente para sumergirse de cabeza en una espiral caótica llena de ambición y deseo de obtener a toda costa el poder que le fue prometido. Lo que pasa es que aquello que se toma por la fuerza y en medio de traiciones y asesinatos no puede durar para siempre. La deslealtad y lo inmoralidad es castigada y las piezas más pronto que tarde empiezan a caer para hacer pagar a un hombre que a pesar de sentirse atormentado y culpable todo el tiempo no deja de aferrarse al poder a toda costa hasta el punto mismo de perder su humanidad.

After winning a battle against Norway in his name, Macbeth, Thane of Glamis and appointed Thane of Cawdor for his bravery, assassinates the righteous King Duncan. He thus succeeds in acceding to the throne and reigns with an iron fist to keep it, fulfilling the predictions signified to him by the three Fatales. But unable to endure the tyranny exercised by the new sovereign, many went to help plot revenge to return the throne to Duncan's rightful heir, Malcolm.
Macbeth is my first Shakespearean tragedy, and it is what I expected: beautiful and fair language and a tragic tone throughout a play peppered with conspiracies and murder.
It is a superb work that the author delivers to us here, which urges me to explore his work more in-depth. Indeed, not my last Shakespeare; therefore, I am more than satisfied emerging from this beautiful reading.

"Blood will have blood."
Naked ambition and ruthlessness combined with superstition and entitlement belief is a strong cocktail, carefully mixed in the witches' cauldron. The spicy recipe is of course hard to digest, and only those taunted and ridiculed in their toxic masculinity by "unsexed" wives will swallow the bait and act out the disaster.
Despite the centuries of democratisation that form a barrier between us and Macbeth' dream of "safe power", one recognises the brutal wish for fame and elevation in many of our contemporary players on the world stage. There is an element of blindness that needs to be cultivated to be able to be both ambitious and careless enough to use violence to grasp power illegitimately.
While Macbeth and Lady Macbeth follow their ambition to gain glory, they manage to simultaneously hold the belief that:
"Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player
that struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing."
This tale is definitely not told by an idiot, and it signifies more than the fury it unleashes on stage. It contains the conundrum of the human condition, the neverending question why we destroy what we built to gain a loss.
