I watched the Netflix show before I read this book and did not realize it would be EXACTLY the same and this book was written based on what Netflix did. It could be good for someone who hasn’t watched the show, but honestly no need to read this if you have already seen the show. The dialogue was basically word-for-word the same as the show.
I was hoping this book would expand upon the different fairy realms, give more insight into the character’s backgrounds and personalities, and provide better character development and world history. NONE OF THAT HAPPENED. It was the just a complete regurgitation of the show and a huge disappointment for someone who enjoys fantasy and diving in deeper to new and exciting worlds. All the characters thoughts were extremely basic and had no complexity.
I am giving this 2 stars instead of 1 star because if you read this instead of/before you watch the Netflix show you might enjoy it.

¿Qué pasaría si te encontraras ese libro que tanto deseas leer tirado en un charco de agua?
Era una tarde lluviosa, de esas que hacen que te encojas bajo el paraguas, cuando la tarde cae despiadadamente sobre Madrid y el tráfico colapsa la ciudad. Caminaba de prisa, pegada casi a los edificios, esperando llegar rápido a la librería para guarecerse de la tempestad y, de paso, perderse entre los pasillos repletos de novedades. No hacía ni veinticuatro horas que se había publicado el último libro de su autora preferida y se moría de ganas de empezar a leerlo. Era tal su entusiasmo, que había pasado de quedar con sus amigas para poder disfrutar de ese momento tan mágico y único a solas. Sin embargo, al doblar una esquina, le pareció ver por el rabillo del ojo como a unas jóvenes se les caía una bolsa de su librería preferida al suelo, después de que un coche las empapara al pasar.

Un té bien caliente. Una manta y un sofá. Era cuanto necesitaba para estar cómoda. A su favor, tenía que no había visto la serie original de las Winx en dibujos, con lo cual no podía compararla con la actual serie de Netflix. Lo único, y eso debía confesarlo, es que había visto los primeros capítulos de la serie y le habían encantado. Le gustaban mucho las novelas con altas dosis de misterio, magia, traiciones y, por supuesto, de romance. Así que se arrebujó bajo la manta y empezó a leer. Al final de la lectura, después de esbozar una sonrisa de satisfacción, tuvo que admitir que le habría gustado más si la autora le hubiera dado más profundidad a la historia, conocer mejor a los personajes, el entorno, encontrarse con algún dato o capítulo extra... Claro que el libro iba dirigido a jóvenes de entre 14 y 16 años, pero sólo había vislumbrado a un Riven algo más complejo de lo que había visto en la serie de Netflix. Pero estaba contenta de haber leído la novela y de haber pasado unas horas en compañía de unas hadas que sabía le robarían en el futuro muchas horas de sueño.

Update: After 2 seasons, the show has finally been cancelled 🏆
This is purely unacceptable for a number of reasons (#soznotsoz):
1. My #1 fave childhood TV show has NO EXCUSE to be utterly ruined by replacing Flora, not including half of the og iconic cast (especially the Trix) and completely changing and degrading the og plot and geographical locations.
2. Bloom is from CALIFORNIA??? No, she is from Gardenia. Get it right.
3. Alfea is in SOLARIA??? No, Solaria is a completely different dimension. Get it right.
4. Stella is the mean girl and fighting Bloom for Sky??? Absolutely NOT.
It actually hurts reading this and seeing the TV show, I can't stand it. I don't feel bad for the show if it doesn't get a second season lol. What a shame.

I had a hard time rating and reviewing this book. The Fairies’ Path is a novelization of the new TV show on Netflix, Fate: The Winx Saga, which is based on the Winx Club cartoon. I’m going to start off by saying I was a big fan of the Winx Club as a kid, and while the book and show are both based on it, that’s where it ends. They take (some of) the characters and some of their basic storylines (Bloom from Earth, Stella a princess, etc) but that’s really where the comparisons end. Many of the original characters are cut, and a lot of the characters are changed to make the show and book more mature and edgy. I personally would have preferred a more faithful adaptation, but I understand what they wanted to do here. With some time and effort, I was able to look past the fact that this was not really the Winx Club and see it for its own thing.
The book itself wasn’t bad, but I felt like it left a lot to be desired. Rather than taking the story from the show and fleshing it out, adding more details to make it feel more like a novel, the script was basically copied and pasted into a book. The author does add some small descriptions, thoughts, etc. but besides the first small chapter, there’s nothing new added. None of the things glossed over in the show were elaborated on in the book version. Everything that felt rushed on TV felt just as rushed in a book. This isn’t how I usually feel things play out. They have to condense for TV/Movies, but books tend to give you more of the details and have better pacing. I guess this is a shortcoming of having a book based on a show rather than the other way around.
Another thing that really bothered me throughout the book was the point of view. The first chapter is all third person and Bloom is present, but after that, Bloom suddenly is always written in first person. This would be okay if the entire book was written in her perspective from that point on, but it’s constantly changing between the different fairies’ perspectives throughout the chapters. None of them are written in first person. It’s jarring reading a book that doesn’t keep the perspectives consistent. I think the book would have flowed much better if the sections and characters were all third person, even if Bloom is the main character.
Though I had a lot of gripes about this book not living up to the potential it could have been, I didn’t hate it. There were some things I enjoyed. Being able to read the thoughts and feelings of the different characters helped me understand them better than I did just watching the show. The way their friendships slowly grow makes more sense when you know how each character is feeling and why. I really do like the friendship aspect of the girls. They’re all very different and seem to dislike one another at the start, but you’re able to see the way they form attachments to one another and become more than just roommates.
Overall, I’m curious to see the direction they continue to take the show/book series. While I can’t see it as the Winx Club, I can enjoy it as it’s own entity. Hopefully the next book will have more “behind the scenes” stuff that the show doesn’t to flesh out the story and create a better understanding of the world to the readers.

Ci ho pensato molto, per me il libro è scritto male, ma ho anche commesso un grosso errore, non avevo capito il target e il mio approccio è stato sbagliato.
Il libro è, come ho capito con il senno di poi, rivolto ai bambini.
Il problema è che è un libro per bambini (scritto male) narrato dal punto di vista di sedicenni/diciassettenni, e contemporaneamente è una trascrizione di una serie tv rivolta a un pubblico adolescente che cerca di attirare adulti (infatti è vietata ai minori di 14anni).
È una combinazione discutibile, come il risultato.

Somehow this novelization of the first season managed to give me even less Farah Dowling than the show and I'm mad about it.
I still enjoyed this though, for what it was. It was still fun (until it wasn't.)
But I'm really looking forward to the other book, when the dread of the last chapter doesn't loom over the whole book.

I must admit I've never really watched anything with Wing club. Whether it's the cartoon or Netflix series but was curious to give this ago. Unfortunately not my cup of tea. Might have had an more giving reading experience if I would have known more and enjoyed the fandom it's based on.

Oh, signore... Da dove comincio.
Partiamo dalla valutazione che ho deciso di dargli sotto forma di stelle: ne avrei data una soltanto, ma sono diventate due perché ci sono delle parti scritte decentemente.
Quando leggi questo libro dopo aver già visto la serie tv su Netflix non puoi non fare un paragone, per forza di cose. Premetto che la serie mi è piaciuta, anche tanto. Non ha pretese, scorre a un ritmo piacevole, ha un finale che mi è piaciuto moltissimo e non vedo l'ora che esca la seconda stagione. Ma allora perché ho dato una valutazione così bassa al libro?
Prima di tutto, avevo determinate aspettative, ovvero che il libro fosse più profondo, più introspettivo, più descrittivo di quanto non possa esserlo una serie tv o un film, generalmente parlando. Speravo, inoltre, che avesse molti più elementi, molte più descrizioni e che avesse qualcosa di diverso dalla serie. Purtroppo, invece, risulta solo una breve descrizione di quello che vediamo nei 6 episodi e niente di più. Dato che una serie tv ha un budget, quella diventa per forza di cose perdonabile per certe mancanze, per esempio la limitata quantità di luoghi, la limitata quantità di INSEGNANTI, in una scuola che dovrebbe essere enorme e ha solo tre (3!!!) insegnanti tra cui la preside Dowling, le pochissime lezioni (sembra che i personaggi stiano in gita per tutto l'anno accademico, dove sono le lezioni?), pochi personaggi e poco approfondimento sui personaggi stessi. Queste cose sono comprensibili in una serie tv, soprattutto quando si hanno a disposizione solo 6 episodi, ma NON IN UN LIBRO. Avrei voluto conoscere più insegnanti, "partecipare" a più lezioni, conoscere più personaggi e più rapporti tra vari personaggi. Così, secondo me, il libro perde molto.
Seconda cosa: la maggior parte del libro è scritto in una maniera veramente... cringe. Non sembra di leggere un fantasy (che è ciò che dovrebbe trasmettermi il mondo delle Winx, secondo me), ma un urban fantasy di dubbia qualità. Certo è normale vedere degli adolescenti comportarsi in un determinato modo, è realistico, questo lo concedo. Ma stiamo parlando di adolescenti che vivono nell'Oltremondo, un mondo fatato, che dovrebbe essere pieno di creature interessanti, e gli studenti della scuola migliore per fate che esista dovrebbero avere un loro modo di comportarsi e non gli atteggiamenti di adolescenti americani qualunque. Questa cosa ovviamente la si nota anche nella serie tv, ma stranamente è molto più piacevole da guardare che da leggere. Così, messo nero su bianco, lascia un po' perplessi. Fortunatamente ci sono momenti, come ho scritto all'inizio, che sono scritti abbastanza bene e che si concentrano sulla "lore" del mondo, che è quello che a me personalmente interessa di più in assoluto di questa serie. E' l'Oltremondo a interessarmi, NON le relazioni tra adolescenti. Queste possono, anzi devono, esserci, per carità, ma il rapporto "adolescenti:trama/lore" dovrebbe essere pesato in modo diverso. Più storia, meno roba da teenager.
I momenti più "fantasy" e soprattutto il finale sono quelli che mi hanno spinta a dare una stella in più, meritata, a questo libro.
Ultima cosa che mi ha fatto storcere il naso è il narratore del libro: trovo veramente fastidioso e distraente il cambio tra narratore onnisciente (quando Bloom non è presente) e Bloom in prima persona (quando lei è presente). O mi racconti la storia puramente dal punto di vista di Bloom o mi racconti tutto in terza persona, tutto il resto è solo confusionario e fa perdere il ritmo.
Devo sottolineare che questa recensione riguarda piuttosto il COME è stato scritto questo libro e la totale mancanza di desiderio di ampliare il mondo delle Winx, avendone la possibilità, dato che non ci vuole un budget enorme per scrivere un po' di più, perché altrimenti la storia (quindi la serie tv), a mio parere merita molto e spero in un aumento di budget per le prossime stagioni.
Consiglio spassionato: guardatevi la serie tv per un po' di relax, non fatevi venire il mal di testa con questa perdita di tempo che è il libro perché è UGUALE, non aggiunge né toglie niente alla storia principale, non si prende (purtroppo) nessuna libertà, nessuna differenza, quando aveva palesemente la possibilità di farlo.

Most people complain that they have no time to read, because they can't stay away from Netflix. I have the other way round issue. I have an endless to watch list on Netflix, but I just can't get myself to actually watch it all because I prefer reading. So, when I was browsing on the internet and discovered there was a novelisation of the Winx Saga I didn't hesitate and bought myself the book. That way I would at least know what the hype was about, right?
I quite enjoyed reading this book and I'm pretty certain that the book adds a layer of emotion the series can't show. There is a lot of inner monologue in this book and I like how all those thoughts make each character more than the stereotype they sometimes come across as. And although the amount of characters seems like a lot at the beginning, it didn't take long to get to know them all and to start caring about all of them.
The book, just like the series, is divided in six chapters. And just like in the series we experience the story from multiple points of view. The book makes however quite clear that this is most of all Bloom's story. She is the only one in the book written in first person. But even without that it would be clear this is her story. Everything that happens, all the mystery, it's all about her, who she is and why she has the powers she has.
Although the characters had some stereotypical character traits, they were all more than just that one stereotype. I like how all those characters are so clearly flawed and messing up. They're teens. They make mistakes. They think they do the right thing and then realize they've messed up. They have secrets and they have issues communicating. However, somehow it's also quite clear that those characters are strongest when they are together.
I can't wait to read the second season! (And who knows, maybe I do end up watching the first season eventually ;-))
I quite enjoyed reading this book and I'm pretty certain that the book adds a layer of emotion the series can't show. There is a lot of inner monologue in this book and I like how all those thoughts make each character more than the stereotype they sometimes come across as. And although the amount of characters seems like a lot at the beginning, it didn't take long to get to know them all and to start caring about all of them.

When I bought the book they said in the book you will have more characters stories and extra scenes .. well not really only one at the beginning and otherwise it’s was almost 💯 the same as the series. I know the book was written after the show on Netflix but I was really expecting “extras”
Other than a few views or perspective from the other characters (that the actors showed already in the show except for Riven who’s a bit more complexe)
It’s good if you don’t plan to watch the series or have the time for it tho! Just missing a bit of the show’s darkness but overall enjoyable :)
Still wish I was an Earth fairie :) must be my inner Virgo lol

Triggers : depression, mental abuse, murder
What I thought : Honestly, I’ll start off with the Netflix show. I binged it the day I finished the book on my kindle. The book was obviously better. The show should have flowed better within itself. It seemed all chopped up and it could have been made better. Still liked it and the most dramatic part was the very end of the last episode. The book just flowed better. More detail, no surprise there. The book was made/written based on the show so I understand why it was dark. I understand why it all happened the way it did. I enjoyed the story and can’t wait until there’s more. I hope the next book comes out way before the next season (PLEASE).
Characters : I love Bloom and I cannot WAIT to learn more about her family. Sky seems interesting and I hope Stella and her mom figure things out in the future (as someone with mom relationship issues, I’m intrigued about it).

Ero e sono ancora una fan sfegatata del cartone animato, ho passato letteralmente la mia infanzia davanti agli schermi con le Winx. A differenza di moltissime persone, ero entusiasta dell'uscita della serie tv e soprattutto, durante la prima visione, mi ero imposta di non fare confronti con il cartone ma di vivermi le puntate come se fosse una cosa completamente nuova. Ma adesso non sono qui per parlare della serie (che è diventata una delle mie preferite)... ci ritroviamo nel raro caso di "libro uscito dopo la serie tv" e non viceversa, quando accade ciò so per certo che la versione cartacea non è molto differente o migliore della versione cinematografica. In ogni caso, posso già anticiparvi che non sono rimasta totalmente delusa e che ho anche intenzione di comprare il seguito.
Ho letto questo libro al momento giusto perché la prima stagione l'avevo vista diversi mesi prima e molte cose non le ricordavo bene. Ho rispolverato la mia memoria e ho approfittato in un rewatch per prepararmi all'uscita della seconda stagione. Leggevo un capitolo e poi guardavo una puntata perché il libro è suddiviso in sei capitoli proprio come le puntate.
Il volume, acquistato in lingua italiana, è composto da 288 pagine ed è editato da Mondadori; al prezzo di 16,90 euro.
Alfea è una scuola di magia dove tutti gli studenti imparano a utilizzare i propri poteri. Tra loro c'è un piccolo gruppetto di cinque amiche, le Winx, tutte con poteri decisamente differenti. Aisha è un fata dell'acqua, Musa è una fata della mente, Terra è una fata della natura, Stella è una fata della luce e poi Bloom... la fata del fuoco. Pensavano di trascorrere il loro primo anno in tranquillità, tra prime cotte e giornate di studio ma il ritorno di una strana creatura metterà in pericolo tutti gli studenti se non l'intera Solaria. Però c'è quel piccolo segreto... si proprio quello che potrebbe sconvolgere tutti.
L'idea dei vari punti di vista mi è piaciuta, in questo modo si sono scoperte sensazioni e nuove informazioni. Oltre alle fate, c'è anche il punto di vista di Riven e Sky, gli specialisti, e devo ammettere che ho apprezzato molto questa scelta. I capitoli sono lunghi e sono suddivisi in paragrafi, quando si passa da un punto di vista all'altro c'è sempre un sottotitolo che specifica (ACQUA per Aisha, LUCE per Stella, e via dicendo). Non ho apprezzato molto la narrazione, preferivo tutto in terza persona o tutto in prima persona ma capisco che Bloom è la protagonista e si doveva distinguere, infatti il suo punto di vista è sempre narrato in prima persona.
Ci sono delle cose negative come ad esempio il word building perché non è molto documentato, descritto o spiegato. Si da quasi per scontato che le cose già si sanno ma per chi legge il libro e si affaccia per la prima volta in questo mondo può mettere solo confusione al lettore. Le descrizioni sui personaggi sono molto basilari e le loro storie non vengono raccontate come dovrebbero.
Scegliere un personaggio preferito si sta rivelando più difficile del solito ma ho fatto la mia scelta. Stella è la fata della luce ed è anche la principessa di Solaria, è sempre stata la mia Winx preferita per il suo carattere e la sua storia; nella serie è un po' diversa ma rimane ugualmente la mia preferita. Bloom è la fata del fuoco e ha un passato davvero molto importante, ho sempre amato il suo personaggio nonostante il lato odioso da salvatrice del mondo (sì, anche lei è la mia preferita). Riven mi intriga tantissimo, Sky è veramente un cuore di panna. Beatrix, la fata dell'aria, pare essere la cattiva della situazione ma secondo me è solo apparenza. Musa, Terra e Aisha sono splendide.
Abigail è bellissima ma ugualmente la copertina non mi fa impazzire.
il mio voto è il seguente: 3,5 stelline su 5.

Es la serie de Netflix punto por punto. Y si ya dio cringe la serie, imaginad los diálogos escritos... Solo viene bien para refrescar la primera temporada antes del estreno de la segunda.

"The Fairies' Path Fate: The Winx Saga" by Ava Corrigan is, the story of five girls Stella, Bloom, Musa, Ashia, and Flora has they attend the Alfea school and each trying to solve things while some are trying to discover things.
I would give "The Fairies' Path Fate: The Winx Saga" by Ava Corrigan a 3 star review because, I only really tried this book because, I loved the old tv show and the newest one on Netflix so I thought it might be good I was pleasantly surprised that I really enjoyed this book. I really liked how the author wrote this book though I do wished that it was a little different. "The Fairies' Path" is, the first book that I've read through one whole sitting.

The way the book is written compared to the show is a bit odd, the show tries to be all dark and gritty in using explicit language and whatnot which normal teenagers these days would use to get their points across, and then you have this book which reads like if it was written for a 12-year-old, I mean it's not all that bad, but the difference between these two entities nevertheless still quite striking to me.

FATE: THE WINX SAGA vol. 1
Quando ho visto che usciva la serie su Netflix sono andata in brodo di giuggiole, e continuavo a cantare la sigla del cartone.

Peccato che non ho Netflix. Per cui mi sono buttata sul libro.
Ho iniziato quindi a leggere con entusiasmo. Ma poco a poco è scemato.
Partiamo dalla storia. E' simile, ma ha delle differenze. Su questo ne sono più che sicura. Ho una fonte più che attendibile: mia nipote. E' cresciuta a pane e Winx e sa tutto di loro. Ho chiesto a lei e ha confermato i miei sospetti.
Cosa più evidente: non ci sono le Trix. Le Streghe. E Alfea è tutto un unico comprensorio. Mentre nel cartone no. E poi... qui invece no.
Nononstante le modifiche, io ne ho segnalte alcune me ce ne sono diverse, la storia prende.
Quello che non prende è come è scritto.
Capisco che sia per un pubblico adolescente. Ma un minimo di spessore lo avrei dato ai personaggi.
All'inizio non ci si fa caso. Però più si va vanti, la trama si infittisce. Per cui avrei preferito un minimo di approfondimento dei personaggi\situazioni.
Può anche essere che avendo ormai passato da un pezzo la fase adolescenziale, non sia riuscita ad apprezzarlo fino in fondo. Chissà.
Però io faccio sempre il confronto con Harry Potter (forse sbagliando) e anche quello è per la stessa fascia d'età, eppure mi sembra tutto tranne che superficiale.
Anche perchè io credo che avrebbero potuto osare un pò di più. Mi sembrano che siano abbastanza svegli gli adoelsceti per reggere un libro un pò più complesso di questo.
Peccato perchè è davvero carino, e devo dire che la storia, seppure un pò diversa mi ha incuriosito parecchio. Soprattutto la fine, mi ha fatto venire voglia di leggere subito il successivo.
Tre stelle per la delusione di un'occasione mancata.
Quattro per aver risvegliato l'adolescente che c'è in me.

Ich war ein bisschen neugierig, da viele gesagt haben, dass die neue Netflix WInx Serie auf einem Buch beruht.
Das ist falsch.
Das Buch beruht auf der Serie, d.h. Netflix hat immer noch die Originalserie zu irgendetwas zusammengemixt, dass all das schlechte aus Riverdale (das so absurd und selten dämlich ist) und Sabrina (das akzeptabel ist) in ein Buch verpackt.
Danke für nichts.
Warum ich so gemein bin? Ich kenne die Originalserie, aber selbst ohne Kenntnisse, würde mich all der Cringe in den Wahnsinn treiben.Ich fühle mich wie in die House of Night Zeit versetzt, wo alle Bücher so Möchtegern-Edgy sein wollten mit Sex und Drogen - in übersinnlich halt. Und die schlechte Repräsentation! omg. Nein. Das Buch fühlt sich wie aus den frühen 00ern an und nicht aus unserer modernen Zeit, wo POCs und queere Charaktere gut repräsentiert werden (gibt natürlich immer mal wieder schlechte Sachen).
Ich verstehe auch nicht, warum in dieser Reihe die Autor:innen gewechselt werden? Finde das bei einer Reihe, wo es nur einen Hauptchara gibt (Bloom) wenig sinnvoll - insbesondere, da ihre Geschichte noch nicht vorbei ist und ich mir nicht vorstellen kann, dass sie in den nächsten Büchern in den Hintergrund tritt.

Wie die Serie, mit etwas mehr Details, ist dieses Buch bzw. Hörbuch aufgebaut. Auch hier spricht wieder die Sprecherin von Bloom aus dem Original Winx Club.
Ich muss zugeben, ich bin eingefleischter Fan des Originals von Ignio Strafi und habe deshalb die Neuinterpretation von Netflix strikt davon getrennt betrachtet. Ich habe mich lediglich darüber gefreut, einige Theorien zu spinnen, wie sie was aus dem Original neuinszeniert haben. Aber letztlich haben sie eigentlich ja nur die Namen gemeinsam und ein paar Eckdaten. Die Serie und auch das Buch dazu wendet sich auch dementsprechend eher an eine neue Generation von Winx-Fans, auch wenn die alten, denke ich, auch ihren Spaß daran haben werden. Zumindest diejenigen, die, so wie ich, sich schon damals eigene Geschichten mit den Feen ausgedacht haben, die ganz abwegig vom Original sind. Es bleibt Interpretationsfreiraum.

Sono decisamente fuori target per questo libro, ma lo volevo assolutamente in libreria, come un ricordo delle ore che passavo da piccola a guardare il cartone originale!

"Fate – The Winx Saga" von Ava Corrigan ist eine Ergänzung zur beliebten Serie "Fate: The Winx Saga". Un fel de Harry Potter, dar cu zâne adolescente și corect politic (mai ales serialul, apărut cu puțin înainte de traducerea cărții la noi). „Citită” pe îndelete pe la mijloc de ianuarie; nefiind familiarizat - ba nu, nici măcar nu auzisem de fenomenul „Winx” înainte de acest roman -, nu mă pot pronunța cu privire la amploarea lui, știu doar că apariția acestei novelizări a provocat reacții entuziaste mai ales din partea cititoarelor care cunoșteau despre ce este vorba. Și știind că urma și serial... Reînnoit aproape instantaneu de Netflix...
