1.5 en realidad.
Ha sido la decepción de mi vida. Puedo llegar a entender por qué gusta, pero a mí personalmente me ha decepcionado cada palabra. No me han gustado los personajes, la trama tan tonta que tiene, la ambientación del país de las maravillas, la narrativa es demasiado infantil, en fin, es que no me ha gustado ABSOLUTAMENTE NADA. Y estoy muy apenada, porque esta edición es PRECIOSA, que es lo único que para mí se ha salvado, porque sino le hubiera puesto un cero patatero. Ya os hablaré más de él en el canal, pero sin duda jamás un libro me ha dejado con una sensación tan mala como este. Una historia sobrevalorada hasta el infinito.

Do not worry, gentle reader! I have perversely decided on no spoilers in this review, despite that almost everybody has seen a movie version of these books! The plots are a little dull to describe for adults anyway except for those of us who immediately become prostrate with nostalgia. I think from the point of view of children, though, the novels are fantastically fun and seemingly lacking in anything moral to learn. Indeed, the author makes a point to prove education is nonsensical several times! Quite a relief, I think, for today's highly helicoptered and hoovered kids.
I thought this Kindle ebook a terrific edition as many of the original drawings - both by the legendary John Tenniel, Henry Holiday and also those by Lewis Carroll himself (real name Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) have been wonderfully reproduced. It also includes a chapter, 'The Wasp in a Wig', which has been cut from the regularly published books. 'The Nursery "Alice" is a regurgitated version of 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' written by Carroll for toddlers, and in my opinion, it totally sucks. The gorgeous and hilarious poem about a Snark hunt is a delight!
I had no idea for most of my life Great Literature college students and adults with Ph.D.'s were and are busy trying to read between the lines for 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland', seeing adult literary jokes, political agendas and insults against real-life people hidden in the text. There have been hundreds of books written analyzing Carroll's novels and life. My generation (baby boomers) re-interpreted the novel 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' in drug metaphors as young adults, even though all it is actually is an entertaining fantasy written first in 1862 for the entertainment of children. Many movies have been made of it although most do not exactly follow the plot of the book. I remember seeing a black and white 1933 movie version of 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' starring Charlotte Henry ( https://youtu.be/gQgmpEom3KI ) on Saturday TV which I absolutely adored. In my memory, this particular movie follows the books almost exactly.
'Alice's Adventures Under Ground' is the first version written privately for Alice alone to see when she was seven years old, illustrated by Lewis Carroll himself. Later, an edited and more professionally illustrated version was published, 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland', which is the one I first read myself as a pubescent teen (I saw the 1933 movie first on TV when I was in elementary school before reading the book).

It's hard to chose a rating when you read a collection of stories in one book.
5 Stars for Alice in Wonderland.
3 Stars Through the Looking Glass: the chapters seemed so disjointed and unrelated. Definitely not as interesting as Alice in Wonderland, either. I think I only really enjoyed the chapter with the Queens.
2 Stars Alice's Adventures Underground: it's not really a story, more like an outline for Alice in a Wonderland.
2 Stars Hunting of the Snark.
3 Stars for the average. Lewis Carroll should have stopped after Alice's first adventure and burned the rest.
5 Stars for Alice in Wonderland.

Alicia: Edición completa
Oh que delicia es leer Alicia.
Me fascina el caos y la locura de su primer recorrido por el país de las maravillas, ese lio de crecer y encogerse, y con personajes tan memorables como el Gato de Cheshire, La reina de Corazones y su manía por cortar cabezas, el sombrerero loco, y el conejo. Realmente todo un mundo que solo puede ocurrir en sueños
A través del espejo también me gusta mucho, con todos sus poemas/canciones, las piezas de ajedrez, y otros personajes tan reconocidos, que te hacen sonreír, a pesar que como Alicia a veces no se les entiende del todo o exasperan.
Disfrute mucho de leerlo nuevamente.
Ahora vamos con la edición de Edelvives. La verdad el libro esta bonito físicamente, la maquetación y tamaño de letra muy bien, y ver los dibujos clásicos a color me gusto mucho, así como los extras.
Pero, oh, si hay un PERO, un GRAN PROBLEMA, por ahí se les fue TREMENDO ERROR, en el poema de La Morsa y el carpintero, en una línea dice La Mosca y el Carpintero. Y considerando lo caro que sale este libro, que es edición especial, realmente me hace dudar de dicha editorial, Si ya sé, muy drástico, pero.

Esta edición es una maravilla.
A parte de contar tanto con Alicia en el país de las maravillas como con Alicia a través del espejo, contiene además las cartas que Lewis Carroll escribió a los niños, un capítulo inédito de Alicia a trabés del espejo y curiosidades sobre cómo se escribió Alicia, el por qué y los diferentes procesos editoriales. Sin duda una joya que todo aquel fan de estas aventuras subterráneas debe de tener.
A parte de contar tanto con Alicia en el país de las maravillas como con Alicia a través del espejo, contiene además las cartas que Lewis Carroll escribió a los niños, un capítulo inédito de Alicia a trabés del espejo y curiosidades sobre cómo se escribió Alicia, el por qué y los diferentes procesos editoriales. When everyone was writing stories with morals for children, Carroll wrote about nonsensical wonderland to make us believe, stories are stories. To be good, it doesn't need to contain some definite moral. But is it really just nonsensical or it too has some deeper meaning?
Well, if you ask me, then yes it does. But let's talk about the origin of the story first. He was studying mathematics at Christ Church, when he first met Alice liddell, a four year old little girl, daughter of dean. They became friends. And at one of their boat trip, Carroll first narrated the story to Alice and her two sisters.
Remember the treacle and 3 sisters living down there? Yes, those 3 sisters were alice and her sisters. Carroll was witty but funny too. The made up story that he later wrote down and illustrated himself to give Alice as birthday present was first named "Alice in underground". Funny thing is the famous mad hatter tea party wasn't included in this manuscript.
Later when he published the book, it was named "Alice's Adventure in wonderland"
The book that inspired so many writing, so many painting, movies and so many scholars is fantasy at it's best. It's chaotic but with a more deeper meaning. On surface it's just a story of girl who falls asleep and dreams of a fantastical world. But if you look closely you see mad hatter was a social commentary to the hat making industry and the mercury poisoning and it effects. Queen of heart is the commentary on our hysterical act out of fear. This book is a journey to wisdom through innocence. It tells us, if we follow our curiosity, like Alice followed white rabbit, we will discover our very own wonderland.

Now some honest opinion, as much as I value the thoughts behind this book, this book was a bit too much for me. It was chaos at it's best.

Se me ha hecho eterno.
Nunca antes me había costado tanto terminar un libro infantil (ni uno no infantil) y digo esto muy a mi pesar (ya que siempre me han gustado los libros fantásticos e infantiles).
La edición de lujo ilustrada por los 150 años es preciosa y muy completa con: prólogos y poemas del autor Lewis Carroll, un episodio suprimido y poco conocido de A Través del espejo, sección con imágenes sobre Cómo se escribió Alicia y las dos partes de Alicia en el País de las Maravillas y Alicia a Través del Espejo. Muy interesante para conocer el contexto de la historia e ir un poco más allá en su lectura.
Incluye las ilustraciones de John Tenniel, el dibujante más destacado de la época, y hace solo 25 años que se completó la versión en color de las ilustraciones originales.
Lewis Carroll tiene una imaginación y un estilo único que consiste en presentar lo absurdo con la lógica más rigurosa, creando situaciones absurdas, ridículas y sin sentido (con las que no he podido conectar ni disfrutar). Llego muy tarde para este libro pero los más pequeños disfrutarán con sus absurdas maravillas y enriquecerá su imaginación.
Un clásico que hay que leer para evadirse pero al que no hay que intentar buscar más allá ni una moraleja ni un mensaje, a diferencia de otros cuentos infantiles. No puedo decir que me haya gustado.

"But if everybody obeyed that rule," said Alice, who was always ready for a little argument, "and if you only spoke when you were spoken to, and the other person always waited for you to begin, you see nobody would ever say anything so that---"
Yes the world of being a child. It is hard to go back to what that would be like and yet Lewis Carroll has gotten into it and exaggerated it perfectly.
My next read is going to be Alice's Adventures in Wonderland Decoded: The Full Text of Lewis Carroll's Novel with its Many Hidden Meanings Revealed. I hope to understand a little bit more of his wit.

Enjoyed listening to this audiobook!! Seen all the film adaptations!!!! It is a re-read from my childhood, but always enjoy it!!!!

En cuanto a la edición, es hermosa, una edición de Edelvives por el 150° aniversario muy adecuada a la importancia que tiene esta publicación en la historia de la literatura universal. Las ilustraciones originales nunca me han gustado especialmente, pero en este caso al colorearlas le da un poco de color a todo, valga la redundancia. Es una edición bastante completa que cuenta un poco del contexto que rodeó su creación.

En un inicio pensé en ponerle tres estrellas, pero finalmente me decidí por dos porque esta es una historia que nunca me entretuvo especialmente. Reconozco que Alicia es un gran clásico pero la historia en sí no me convenció en ningún momento las veces que la he leído -al menos dos-, yo la veo demasiado absurda para mi gusto personal, recomiendo a quien le llame la atención que la pruebe por cuenta propia.
.Frases: "¿Y de qué sirve un libro [...] que no tiene ni dibujos ni conversación?"
"-¿Puede saberse quién eres tú? [...]
-¡Ay señor! ¡Ojalá lo supiera yo! Y el caso es que esta mañana lo sabía... ¡Pero ahora mismo no lo sé! ¡Cómo voy a saber quién soy, si estoy cambiando continuamente!"
"[...] ¡No es lo mismo decir 'veo lo que como' que 'como lo que veo'!
[...] ¡No es lo mismo decir 'me gusta lo que tengo' que 'tengo lo que me gusta'!"
"¡[...]puedes tomar más que nada! [...] ¡Pero prueba a tomar menos que nada!"
"¡Todo tiene moraleja! Hay que dar con ella."
"Todo hombre honrado firma aquello que escribe."
*A través del espejo y lo que Alicia encontró allí 3/5 Es la primera vez que leo esta historia y puedo decir que su prosa y desarrollo me resultaron un poco más llevaderos, Carroll sigue siendo un autor que no me gusta del todo pero creo que en esta segunda historia le fue mejor a mi parecer, aunque las partes en verso siguieron sin convencerme al igual que algunos personajes, en general me entretuvo haciendo que en dos días me lo leyera sin los problemas de lentitud que tuve con Alicia en el País de las Maravillas.
.Frases: "¿Oyes cómo golpea la nieve en los cristales de la ventana, minino? ¡Qué sonido tan dulce y agradable! Es un sonido tan dulce como el beso, como si alguien estuviera besando la ventana por la parte de fuera. Quizá la nieve los bese por amor, de la misma manera que cubre de besos los campos y los árboles del bosque... Y, después de cubrirlos con su gran manto blanco, a buen seguro que les dice: '¡Dormid, dormid, queridos, mientras esperáis a que llegue el verano!'"
"¡O lloras o piensas: no se pueden hacer las dos cosas a la vez!"
"Hombre, estoy solo, porque...¡no estoy acompañado!"
"El problema está en saber -dijo Alicia- si uno puede hacer que las palabras signifiquen cosas diferentes."
"¡Y yo quiero estar preparado para cualquier eventualidad! Verás [...], en esta vida hay que estar preparado para todo..."

*Alicia en el País de las Maravillas 2/5
En un inicio pensé en ponerle tres estrellas, pero finalmente me decidí por dos porque esta es una historia que nunca me entretuvo especialmente. Reconozco que Alicia es un gran clásico pero la historia en sí no me convenció en ningún momento las veces que la he leído -al menos dos-, yo la veo demasiado absurda para mi gusto personal, recomiendo a quien le llame la atención que la pruebe por cuenta propia.
.Frases: "¿Y de qué sirve un libro [...] que no tiene ni dibujos ni conversación?"
"-¿Puede saberse quién eres tú? [...]
-¡Ay señor! ¡Ojalá lo supiera yo! Y el caso es que esta mañana lo sabía... ¡Pero ahora mismo no lo sé! ¡Cómo voy a saber quién soy, si estoy cambiando continuamente!"
"[...] ¡No es lo mismo decir 'veo lo que como' que 'como lo que veo'!
[...] ¡No es lo mismo decir 'me gusta lo que tengo' que 'tengo lo que me gusta'!"
"¡[...]puedes tomar más que nada! [...] ¡Pero prueba a tomar menos que nada!"
"¡Todo tiene moraleja! Hay que dar con ella."
"Todo hombre honrado firma aquello que escribe."
*A través del espejo y lo que Alicia encontró allí 3/5 Es la primera vez que leo esta historia y puedo decir que su prosa y desarrollo me resultaron un poco más llevaderos, Carroll sigue siendo un autor que no me gusta del todo pero creo que en esta segunda historia le fue mejor a mi parecer, aunque las partes en verso siguieron sin convencerme al igual que algunos personajes, en general me entretuvo haciendo que en dos días me lo leyera sin los problemas de lentitud que tuve con Alicia en el País de las Maravillas.
.Frases: "¿Oyes cómo golpea la nieve en los cristales de la ventana, minino? ¡Qué sonido tan dulce y agradable! Es un sonido tan dulce como el beso, como si alguien estuviera besando la ventana por la parte de fuera. Quizá la nieve los bese por amor, de la misma manera que cubre de besos los campos y los árboles del bosque... Y, después de cubrirlos con su gran manto blanco, a buen seguro que les dice: '¡Dormid, dormid, queridos, mientras esperáis a que llegue el verano!'"
"¡O lloras o piensas: no se pueden hacer las dos cosas a la vez!"
"Hombre, estoy solo, porque...¡no estoy acompañado!"
"El problema está en saber -dijo Alicia- si uno puede hacer que las palabras signifiquen cosas diferentes."

Sobre La Historia:
Alicia en el país de las maravillas y Alicia a Través del espejo y lo que encontró allí, son unas novelas infantiles clásicas escritas por Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, un profesor de matemáticas del Christ Church Collage de Oxford, Más conocido como Lewis Carroll.
Todos conocemos la historia de aquella pequeña niña que encontró un mundo particular al caer en aquella madriguera de conejo, donde los animales hablaban, la comida te hacia crecer o encoger, y tenías que ver dos veces porque las cosas no eran lo que parecía ser, eso era un país de las maravillas y de cómo a través del tiempo esta historia vive, por todas sus obras cinematográficas, sus musicales y cualquier cantidad de adaptaciones.
Pero realmente esta historia comenzó como un cuento que escuchaban tres niñas en una sala mientras un amigo de sus padres les narraba aquella mágica e increíble historia. Una de ella exclamo: - ¡ESCRIBELO!, el nombre de aquella niña era Alicia. Y así fue como nacería una de las novelas con más relevancia de todos los tiempos.
Sobre el Formato:
Tengo la Edición Completa de Alicia de Edelvives editorial, que fue la edición de lujo conmemorativa del 150 aniversario de esta historia. Sin duda alguna, dicha editorial imprime unas obras bellísimas, trasciende de lo común a lo realmente artístico en un libro, el gramaje de las hojas, el diseño de la portada, las ilustraciones a todo color, el cuidado de los detalles de las páginas y el lomo hace que valga la pena cada peso invertido.
Si bien las ediciones de lujos son más caras que las ediciones convencionales, estas aportan algo mucho más preciado que solo un verdadero amante de los libros podrá valorar. Ya sea datos e información exclusiva sobre el autor y la obra, ilustraciones, extensiones de la obra, mejor calidad. El libro como objeto, también debe ser amado y considerado una pieza de colección.

No hablaré del contenido de esta carta porque eso es un privilegio que el lector debe experimentar por cuenta propia, pero la sensación que deja es maravillosa, es allí donde te das cuenta de que las palabras trasciende al tiempo y es como si una cálida mano acariciara tu mejilla desde otra dimensión, del pasado a tu presente.
Cada autor, en sus historias te muestra un mundo diferente, pero cuando un autor te escribe a ti directamente, sientes la cercanía y el cariño, un lazo que solo puedes tener con la persona que creó el mundo que en tu imaginación conociste, una intimidad inenarrable.
Si bien la carta esta dirigida para los niños, cuando uno lee y se sumerge en el mundo del lenguaje escrito vuelve a ser un niño, eres vulnerable en el mundo real por estar viviendo una aventura en el mundo imaginario. Tus sentimientos y emociones están a flor de piel, y esas son unas de las características mas impresionante que tienen los niños, así que esta carta esta escrita para niños de 7 a 70 años, y hasta más, siempre y cuando sigan teniendo el amor a la lectura.

I thought that I wouldn't like this book for the same reason I didn't really like Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland movie - it tried to make up for actual humour with plain weirdness. However, I really enjoyed the original Alice books, because of the layered conversations Alice has with the creatures, and all the wordplay that goes on within these conversations. If there's one thing I didn't like, it was how anticlimactic the endings were.

Una edición de lujo para todos los amantes de Carroll. Trae consigo los dos libros de Alicia (Alicia en el país de las maravillas y Alicia a través del espejo), un capítulo extra de este último, cartas escritas del propio autor para los lectores más pequeños de este fantástico clásico y el cómo se hizo, con curiosidades sobre las primeras impresiones e ilustraciones. Es una edición preciosa, con las ilustraciones originales a todo color. Un regalo perfecto para los amantes de este loco y absurdo mundo.

Przeczytałem z przyjemnością. Choć momentami miałem jednak wrażenie, że jestem już trochę za duży. ;) Kraina Czarów jest fajniejsza niż Druga Strona Lustra.

Reseña de Llave al Infinito
Hoy os traigo la reseña de Alicia en el País de las Maravillas, A través del Espejo y Lo que Alicia encontró allí. Además el libro contiene información sobre la primera vez que se hizo Alicia, cómo fue, cómo se editó, cartas de Lewis Carroll… es una versión extendida por los 150 años del libro, si mal no recuerdo (Es que no lo tengo en casa ahora mismo lo tiene mi profesora para corregirme un trabajo JAJAJA). Creo que todos conocéis el cuento de Alicia, pero la verdad es que yo pensaba lo mismo y leyendo el original he aprendido muchas cosas nuevas de las que no me había dado cuenta antes. Es una historia sobre una niña que supuestamente aparece en el País de las Maravillas, donde todo es muy raro y tiene que ir descubriendo el mundo poco a poco, además de algunos personajillos que a saber de dónde han salido… Respecto a las dos otras lecturas, también las recomiendo porque son igual de entretenidas que el original, siguen con la historia de Alicia y sus aventuras (A través del Espejo no tiene naaaada que ver con la película, por si alguien se lo estaba preguntando). En realidad hay poco que decir de esta historia, solo que deberíais leerla si no lo habéis hecho porque es un clásico y esos siempre hay que leerlos para entenderlos al 100%
Los personajes los conocéis de sobra: Alicia nuestra protagonista es una niña pequeña, rubita, muy muy curiosa que va andando de un lado a otro en el País de las Maravillas sin saber muy bien cómo salir o qué va a descubrir. Es bastante madura para su edad, aunque en ocasiones se ve su inocencia, al fin y al cabo es una niña pequeña. Luego tenemos a las dos Reinas, Roja y Blanca, que son las dos igual de locas y van en contra de Alicia y la Reina Roja del mundo entero en general (Que le corten la cabeza ¿No?). Y en realidad, tanto el conejo blanco, como el sombrerero loco, etc… para lo famosos que son, si lo pienso ¿En el libro original tampoco salen tanto? Por ejemplo el Rey Rojo es mucho más importante y a que nadie sabía de su existencia… porque nadie le hace ni caso al pobre JAJAJA. Hay muchos personajes y deberíais conocerlos leyendo el libro ¿O ES QUE NO HA QUEDADO CLARO QUE QUIERO QUE LO LEÁIS?
La forma de escribir ES GENIAAAL porque lees prosa, canciones, adivinanzas, estás en todo momento leyendo algo diferente además está escrito de forma muy bonita. Sobre las adivinanzas y las canciones la verdad es que yo no entendía un cuarto y media pero da igual, eran graciosas de leer es lo que hay jajaja.
Pues eso, en serio que tenéis que leer este libro que merece muchíiiiisimo la pena. La sinopsis es todo lo que contiene la edición que tengo yo que es cara, no nos vamos a engañar, pero la recomiendo mucho de verdad ~

I do enjoy the tale of Alice in Wonderland. The Disney movie was one of my favorite growing up. It was so fantastic and far out there with all the talk of unbirthdays, singing flowers, oyster eating, and maniacal laughter. I've always been heavily influenced by the tale. I have only read Alice in Wonderland so Through the Looking Glass is a new tale for me, one I think that I'd prefer to have read physically without illustrations.
I liked the adaptation and the ideas behind a good bit of art work, but I also didn't like the art work or the coloring. It looked faded out and none if it was really captivating. I didn't find that this graphic novel was a completely astonishing adaptation. The story of Alice is so whimsical and the artwork in this edition felt washed out and unimaginative in comparison.

I do like both Alice stories and it was really interesting reading Through the Looking Glass for the first time. I'm just not in love with the stories. I think they are fun and cute, but they aren't stories that I find particularly lasting. To be honest, if it wasn't for the Disney films nothing about Alice would be ingrained in my mind except the beginning with the rabbit and falling down a hole.

That was one of the strangest books I have ever read!

Alice In Wonderland - 3.5/5, Decided to listen to this one on audio as I thought it would make more sense as I was struggling to follow the story properly when reading. I was still a bit confused though, but it was still enjoyable reading the original story.
Through The Looking Glass - 4/5, I seemed to be able to follow this one a lot easier so just read this instead of listening to the audio. Some of the story still did not make sense, but that's the point right?
However, I am definitely glad I read this, I don't normally read classic/old type books, I probably should though :)

To be fair, I'm pretty much always reading this book. I have a slight Lewis Carroll obsession. I actually tracked down his original Alice drawings the other day, pretty awesome! Still love the Tenniel drawings though. I will read bits of this book when I'm stressed or sad, or trying to remember a quote. Other parts I've memorized and torture my students with at random. This book always has something new for me. For as long as I live, Wonderland will always be my favorite playground.

By giving it 2 stars for "it was ok", I'm not saying that this book was bad or anything, I'm just saying that as an individual I did not enjoy reading any of the stories.
Yes, when you read all the articles written on this book (these stories) you'll see how wonderful and beyond imagination it was (or still is). But as a story? Not so much.
I was actually bored all through the book. Alice wasn't a likable character, and her adventures were more annoying.
That's just me though.

Récit intemporel d'un auteur fantasque à l'imagination débordante.
J'ai adoré le lire à mes filles même si le texte original reste inaccessible pour leur âge.
Elles en ont quand-même redemandé tous les soirs.
Alice aux pays des merveilles c'est cette histoire pour enfants que personne n'a lu finalement !
Combien ont pris la peine de lire le texte de Lewis Carroll et pourtant!
Quelle délectation ! Quelle érudition ! Je suis sous le charme de cette folie douce qui émane de chaque page de ce grand classique qui n'a perdu de sa verve.
Les petits et grands enfants du 2ème siècle continuent à apprécier ce livre. Alice a de beaux jours devant elle.

Alice é Alice né ?!!.. Uma viagem surreal, como se estivéssemos num daqueles sonhos marados que temos por vezes, mas sempre no seu pico de estranheza. Por vezes enfadonho, mas outras memorável. Alice e seus personagens fantásticos que nos povoam a imaginação, pessoalmente prefiro os do baralho, o coelho branco, o gato Cheshire, a lagartixa, os gêmeos, o Humpty Dumpty e as rainhas. O box é lindo e bem completo, porém a parte exterior frágil. Vem com marca páginas, poster e com muitas ilustrações dignas da obra.
