Wow, this was so good! And I thought that I liked Chishiya in the adaptation but I feel like I might like him here even more. Best character ever. Anyway, I have to say that this was full of action but at the same time it managed to provide a pretty good background story for several characters. I would say very well done.
The second volume brings great improvements to the series as the art gets a bit better and the pacing is very good.
This time the characters have to participate in a deadly game of tag and the stakes are high. It keeps you in suspense and it has constant action and shocking moments.
It also had some good character moments and developments, and it even presents some good moral questions. It's premise is great and this second volume lives up to its potential.
Chishiya was my favorite character in the series, but he’s even better and more interesting in the manga! I love it! Can’t wait to continue reading about him!
personally loved the game of tag episode and the manga holds up to that which is why it gets a higher rating.
thought about reading another volume before bed but then realised it's the seven of hearts game and i genuinely am not mentally prepared to go through THAT again so sleep it is.
was super excited to meet manga!usagi and chishiya and can't wait to get to the beach portion (though i also dread it lol). the changes from the manga to the show make me curious (how in the manga it was karube to suggest working together but in the show it's arisu) but it just keeps the excitement alive and surprises me so i'm not complaining.
Second Volume of Imawa no Kumi no Alice keeps things fast and dark, continuing right where the first volume left things. We are presented with yet another game and some new characters are introduced. More importantly, there were some clues that give us hope for the future of the game.
As for the art, it was dark, emotional, and action-packed, just right for the story. The pace was fast and the characters smoothly presented, though there was no character development yet.
I don't hate the manga Shibuki that much... Kurabe is still the best guy and finally my other favorite characters have made appearance! Chisiya!!! Usagi is quite awesome too! With the second game over I'm quite afraid to read further.
¡Me encanta!
Come from Netflix series because I can't wait for ss2! Finished the whole manga within a few days and it was such a pleasure experience
The idea is briliant, still haven't wrapped my head around how the author was able to come up with such awesome and meaningful story like that. It really makes me question my true identity on the verge of death, when I have to make choices that I bet my life on. I think I'll never know who I really am
I like all the characters. It's a shame that the 2 best friends of Arisu die too soon. I wanted to see them more in the story, but like the story said at some point, their deaths are " necessary evil" for Arisu to mature. Shibuki was a calculating person and will do anything to hold on to her life. I cried when she smiles and embraces Chunta during her last few seconds of the hide and seek game. It's like she finally accepts her fate that she is about to die. It was such a hard moment for Shibuki to let go considering what she did in the past, but she did it, and at least she was happy in her last moment
After their recent victory, Karube, Arisu, Chouta and Shibuki celebrate. With a visa lasting no more than 3 days, they can't afford to unwind. Karube wants to keep playing and Arisu joins him. The next game is Tag with a deadly twist. They and several others must survive in a locked down building until they find a safe zone or until the killer finds them.
After the mystery of the first volume, this one stamps the potential of the whole series.
This one showed the trio (or rather the duo - since they're the one who really participated this time) how the game works, how to deal and handle other game players, and the realization of people dying during the game. The five of spades game is indeed clever; taking consideration of what staircase and floor to pick, on how to hide, considering group participation, etc. all matters now. This one hooked me to the whole Alice in Borderland thing.
The games in this are in the extreme and made me very emotional. It really made me think how important the things around me are. The horror part definitely got to me because it kept me keep on reading every chapter trying to think whos going to die and wonder whos dying next. I really love everything about this series and I'm planning to finish reading all 18 volume! I would recommend this to whoever finishes the first volume and still wanting to know more.
The 5 of spades game is one of my favorites, some amazing characters were introduced and developed. I love how Karube and Arisu support and protect each other😭 Sth that surprised me was that actually Karube had the idea of screaming to help the others in the complex, not Arisu, as is shown in the series. Also, even though Chishiya is a smart mf he didnt do much to clear the game, besides helping Karube and giving hints about the country. Anyways Usagi is queen
This is one of my favorite single volumes of manga I've read. This was so cool. Admittedly, I also loved the show's take on this volume. I can't think of anything else to say than that is was cool. The amount of times my jaw went slack and I just started laughing at how sick a decision or line was is more than I can remember. I'm so mad that I have to wait for the next volume to come out. 😭
Oh man, the Five of Spades chapters were an absolute blast! I was wondering how it was going to compare to the Netflix series (a masterpiece btw), but I'm happy to say the manga handles it just as well if not better! We are also introduced to Chishiya and Usagi for the first time. Gotta say, Chishiya is already a certified badass. Can't wait to see how his character develops. 5/5
Mailny being focused on the five of spaces, this volume introduces some new and interesting characters. The link between the title of the series and the "original" Alice is also somewhat more clarified, though a lot of mysteries surrounding the Borderlands still remain.
Still fun and thrilling. Disappointed in the typical shounen fan service shots, but it's at least not as frequent as other shounen... still, I appreciate the live action not really delving into that much.
