I do really enjoy this series, and here's my first look at the 1960s volume. Packed with often rare photography spanning the decade from science and politics via entertainment and celebrity and culminating with 'ordinary people' this may not capture a whole decade in 400 pages, but it has a bloody good try. Great photo of President Johnson and MLK:

Each chapter has a theme, and a paragraph about said theme, and there's a short paragraph for every single image in the book. There's a definite feel of being transplanted to another time. There are some amazing shots of Presidents, freedom fighters, sportspeople, space exploration, and also of tragedy, assassination, riots and other calamities. I give a Four Star, 8 out of 12 for this photo fest. Many of us in the UK feel like Twiggy epitomised the 1960s signifying the young generation, fashion, art, music, swinging London and more:

A great look at the 1960s through the camera lens. Numerous photographs, of things good and bad, that happened in this amazing decade.

Another British-heavy, so-so-captioned, wonderful piece of historical goodness.

*The full-frontal nudity shot of Lennon and Ono is here, child alert*

I am a lover of black and white photography and this book does not disappoint!! An eclectic collection of events and people of the 60’s- brings you back in time to a time that was swinging, light and dark, and all its own.

1. All black and white photos, which is fine.
2. Photos are grouped together in categories like "world leaders", "movies", "children", etc, but they are not organized chronologically within the section, which I would have liked.
3. Each photo is accompanied by about a sentence description. I would've liked it more if more info had been given.
4. Id rec this book to teens and adults who are casually interested in the 60s.

I wish the author would have spent more time discussing each photograph, but I do believe that he gave us some powerful photos to look at, and gave me a jumping off point for some research, so I can’t complain too much.

I really enjoyed some of the photos, but would have preferred if they were organized chronologically within each section.

This book was like an photographic Cliffs Notes to the 1960s, and there were some absolutely fantastic photos in there.
