“You made a bargain...
Your soul for his―and now, you are mine.”

Cate Holloway knows the unspoken rule of New Orleans: avoid the powerful Gage crime family at all costs. Of course, that was before her brother got caught in their chaos. Now

Cate has no choice but to confront the dark and forbidding prince of New Orleans himself and beg for her brother’s life.

But Lachlan Gage is as lethal as he is beautiful…and the only currency he’s interested in is her soul.

Because Lachlan isn’t just some ruthless criminal. He’s fae. And he has his own secret reasons for binding her to him.

Tricked and desperate, Cate is torn between humanity and the breathtaking Otherworld. A place filled with shadows and secrets, with members of each fae court plotting against her just as her captor’s motives for trapping her become more mysterious.

And if she can’t break this sinister bargain in the next thirty days, she’ll be bound to the inscrutable yet infuriatingly tempting fae prince and his deadly world…forever.

This one started off pretty strong and I absolutely love captive romance but I struggled with seeing the connection between the two main characters. I feel like the middle of the book fell very flat for me and not much was happening.

I also thought this was going to be a MEGA slow burn but it’s in fact closed door with literally almost no spice. Which is okay, but I was just shocked.

Also- it gave me acotar vibes so that kinda threw me off a bit.

Rating: 1.5 stars

I'm honestly confused how this book has such a good rating. Maybe I'm not reading the same book as everyone else?

This is my first book by this author, and I was interested in it because of the pretty edges, cover, and title of the book. I thought this was going to be a fun read, but I honestly ended up wanting to DNF it by chapter 12. I did end up finishing the book, but it took me way longer than I would have liked it to.

First off, this gave me ACOTAR vibes at first. Just a lot of similarities, which I was here for. It's almost like the book started off okay, then continued to go downhill. I think my main issue with the story was Cate and how inconsistent she was for the main character. One second she would act and think one way, then the next she would act and think another way, and it honestly just felt like whiplash. It almost became normal for me to just expect that even if she said something, she would change her mind within a page or so. But really, I just did not like her. Ever. And that creates a problem when you are reading a book only told from that character's POV.

Now Lach wasn't a terrible character. I actually did like his character at first. But over time, I just didn't like his as much and really he wasn't worth finishing the book for. I thought maybe he would be the thing that would keep me interested, but nope. I really didn't care.

Okay, so now onto the plot...this didn't really interest me. I liked the bargain. But pretty much everything else was very drawn out and made me question when anything of importance would actually happen. I just kept thinking to myself how long this book was and how did I have so much left to read. This book took me eight days to read. Eight. Now while that may seem quickly to some of you, I can read about 20-40 books in one month. So spending eight days on one books is a long time.

There felt like so many inconsistencies as well throughout the book. And I'm okay with brushing off a few, but there was just way too many for me to be comfortable with. For example, cell phones and electronics don't work in the Otherworld or whatever the fae land was called. But then they kept referring to their phones, asking "why didn't you call me," "my cell phone died," "I didn't charge my cell phone," types of things WHILE THEY WERE IN THAT WORLD. If there is no service, how could anyone have called anyone using a phone? This happened a couple times and just bothered me to no end. There were more than just this instance, that was just the main one that bothered me because of how big of a deal they made it in the beginning of the story.

And finally, this book ended in a cliffhanger. Just so you are all aware if you don't like cliffhangers, you might want to wait until the series is released to read this one. I personally don't care what happens to this character and am okay never knowing.

I received this book via NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

lame paper thin world building which would be fine if this was an entertaining sexy read but the couple was incredibly boring and lacking any real chemistry. felt like acotar fanfiction

Well, if I didn't already know that I'm a visual learner rather than audio, I surely would now. Once again, my library only had this title available in audiobook format. I think the only reason that I remember enough to write a review at all is because this is complete fluff and there's not a helluva lot to have to recall. This romance is also proof (once again) that paranormal trappings make romance novels enjoyable to me.

I had a good time listening to this despite a lot of repetition and the heroine, Cate, being very nearly TSTL. What a centuries old fae would see in her is beyond me, but I still enjoyed the banter and the story arc. But I swear, if she had “lifted her chin" one more time….. Plus, her foster brother, Channing, is even dumber than she is.

Channing starts the whole plot off by being a stereotypical foster care graduate and getting involved in organized crime. Cate is a nurse and is on duty when Channing arrives in hospital while she's on duty. Despite the fact that the crime boss, Lochlan Gage, pretty much owns Gage Memorial Hospital, Cate decides it would be an excellent idea to go to a sketchy area of town to confront him and settle her brother's debt. See what I mean about TSTL? For reasons of his own, Gage releases Channing and takes Cate's soul instead. The relationship starts adversarial, which is my favourite trope, so I was willing to put up with the stupidity.

Warning to cliffhanger haters: there's a dilly! If my library won't order the next book, I'm going to be forced to spend my own cash (and they've rejected my request to purchase the second book of the Filthy Rich Vampire series, so……). Being weird in my own way, when I realized how much I want to read the next book, that added a fourth star to my rating. Perhaps I'm just as contrary as Cate.

Wow. Just Wow. I loved this, I didn’t see all those twists coming and right up to a CLIFF. I finally got my Lach POV, hope for more of that in the next. The world building was very good without being overwhelming while still revealing little bits here and there. The clues and hints are there but not so much that you can guess it all and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it all come together. That slow burn to I will walk through hell for you was excellent. I would highly recommend if you love Rhys and Xaden then you better clear out space for Lach, and Cate is as cunning and fiery as Violet and will rival Feyre as a queen. I am obsessed and can’t believe I have signed up for another fantasy series that I have to patiently (not really) wait for the following books.

This book was incredible. It had me in an absolute chokehold from start to finish. Geneva Lee can honestly do no wrong.

My absolute favorite thing about this was the banter. I can't count how many times I cackled, snorted, wheezed (you get the idea) because of the banter. It never felt forced or unnatural or even over the top. It was just a natural back and forth, and that alone would make me give it five stars.

The tension??? I love me a book with spice, but some good tension can be better, and this was most definitely better. It's a slooooooow burn, but in some parts, the tension could actually make you blush. The side characters, who were so fleshed out they didn't feel like side characters at all, were constantly calling their attraction out as well. That, of course, pushed everything up a level.

It was all just fantastic. The characters, their growth, the plot. I genuinely don't have a bad thing to say about this book. Except maybe the ending because 👀👀 rude. I'm going to actually become deceased waiting for part two.

2 stars! ⭐

This is a reminder to myself that just because a book is pretty does not mean I will enjoy it.

I want to start by saying that this wasn’t necessarily bad, it just wasn’t for me. I feel like with all the hype around “romantasy” some books just don’t hit the mark on important factors for me personally, and that’s okay!

“We are light and shadow. They are the very elements of our magic. One cannot exist without the other.”

In “Filthy Rich Fae” we follow the POV of our main character Cate. She is a nurse who works at the Gage hospital and will do anything to help people in need, including her brother Channing who ends up being shot, winding himself in her hospital. Cate furiously goes to confront the man responsible for this, Lachlan Gage. However, she accidentally ends up in a deal binding her to him until their bargain is broken or she can solve his riddle. He is fae and has an alternative motive for needing her around. Can they both fight their undeniable attraction to each other?

I caught a glimpse of this while strolling through Walmart with my husband and just had to have it. The beautiful cover, gold foiled title, and beautiful edges drew me in. Not only that but I am a SUCKER for a good fantasy. The first 35% of this book drew me in. The synopsis was exciting, it had a strong opening, and the characters were fun. However, I got LOST in the middle. I felt that this had very little world building, almost no politics, a vague magic system, and put so much focus into the romance that the plot was in fact not plotting. I was getting so tired of the banter between our main characters and felt no connection with them which made me in return not care much for the story.

I know that there is a specific audience this book is for, and it just was not me 😔.

The summary blurb is not an accurate description of the book but I really enjoyed it and cannot wait for book #2!

Down-to-earth Cate tries to protect her brother by making a secret bargain with the head of the notorious NOLA family who also happens to be Fae. She has one month to break the bargain or be tied to the Fae forever. She spends the book building a relationship with the Fae and his Fae family before the book ends in a cliffhanger.

Can't-put-down level: 4/5
Spicy level: 4/5
World building: 2/5
Character building: 3/5
Dialogue: 4/5
Writing: 4/5

I wish the author had Cate spend more time investigating breaking the bargain. I have no idea how many books are planned for the series but it feels like this first book was really just an introduction and a chance for the reader to build a relationship and love for the characters.

Thank you to Entangled Publishing for the privilege of allowing me this ARC!

Filthy Rich Fae is an absolute must-read book. It features captivating, phenomenal world-building and a deliciously complex Fae character that you'll hate to love, alongside a powerhouse of a female main character. This is my top read of the year so far.

Cate is determined to do whatever it takes to help her brother, even if it means bargaining with Lach, the ruler of New Orleans. Despite the rumors surrounding his family, things are not as they appear. Lach is a delicious, handsome Fae. The chemistry and banter between the two is top-notch.

I’m highly impressed with the writing and fell in love with the main characters and some of the side characters. The cliffhanger is a doozy, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Filthy Rich Fae was a quick read that was a lot of fun!  With a little bit of an enemies to lovers vibe and the heroine being a captive, I flew through this book.  The banter and tension was done so well.  And I loved that I was already smiling and laughing after a couple of chapters in.  Plus, while I thought I knew where the storyline was going, those last few pages had me so excited for what’s to come next!
Unhinged.  Vicious.  Merciless.  That’s what they called him.  I’d followed him blindly, and now he had me trapped.

Cate Holloway bargained her life away to save her brother.  And she found herself trapped with the fae.  Lachlan Gage was a fae, drug lord, criminal, and not someone you would ever want to cross.  Yet Cate had a death wish at times.  She planned to kill the fae prince, so she could escape.  Yet that’s not how her story played out at all!
“Like cute little garden pixies with wings?  Is That what you are?”
His upper lip curled to reveal his sharp teeth, a guttural snarl rumbling from him.

Cate was selfless and someone who always wanted to take care of others.  Yet she definitely made mistakes.  The safety, oh girl, I was laughing at you for that one.  But despite her being challenging at times, I liked her.  I found myself easily rooting for her!  And I wanted to know every single thought she had about Lachlan!
Wrong.  It was so wrong.  Somewhere in the back of my mind I knew that, but I didn’t care.  Not as his hands swept up to cradle my neck and his fingers tangled in my hair.  Not as I lost myself to him.  Not as the line between my anger and my attraction to him blurred.

Lachlan messed with Cate so beautifully!  I loved the sexual tension between them, and it was so much fun.  But most of all I loved when Lach showed us that yes, he did have a heart.  Yet there were so many secrets swirling around him, and at times he seemed to speak in riddles.  I couldn't help but be intrigued, just like Cate.
My soul was on the line, and I didn’t care.  Not when the touch of his skin seared me to the bone.  Not when I only felt alive kissing him.

I was fascinated with their world and felt like we only got little peaks here and there.  For not only their magic but what is beyond the veil too.  I’m excited to learn more in future book(s)!  And my favorite side character was Lach’s sister, Ciara.  I could easily read a book just from her point of view!  I’ll definitely be reading the next book!

Thank you so much to Entangled Publishing for providing me with an eARC and ARC of this book!!

4.5 🌟/5

Cate Holloway is no stranger to death. Working in Gage Memorial ER, it comes through her doors too many times to count. More often than not, those deaths come at the hands of Gages. She knows the unspoken rule about the Gages in New Orleans; avoiding dealing with the Gages at all costs. But when her brother comes in with a gunshot wound while working for the Gages, Cate has no choice but to make a deal to save her brother. But what exactly does Lachlan Gage, the devastatingly handsome head of New Orleans, want with her? For what reasons does he have for making a bargain with her?

First off, the banter between Cate and Lach are 🤤🥵🔥. I loved every single interaction between the two. That’s part of the reason I may have not been able to give it a full five stars as it was a bit of instant love (kind of there but if my suspicions are correct, it’s more than that). The chemistry between the two characters was off the charts and I loved it. And what he did at the end to save her?? Swoon but damn it.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. It started off slow at first. I had to start and restart the book twice before I finally settled into a pace. It may have been from where I had just finished a 0.5 star read and went straight into this one but I don’t know. Now the second time I started it, I was immediately hooked. Hook, line and sinker. I stayed up until midnight (you young folk don’t come for me. This is late for me with a 7 month old) just to finish this book. I kept saying “just one more chapter” and then something would happen and I couldn’t stop. Before I knew it, I was reading the epilogue.

I have my suspicions and theories about where this book is headed. But what threw me completely off was Oberon. Hiding in plain sight like they always say. I am curious as to how that is going to play out. Is he doing it for his court? Or something more selfish? I cannot wait for the next book!

Holy Moly! I couldn’t not put this book down. I started this at 10:30pm and finished it at 2:15 pm! It’s that good.
The beginning started out really strong and stayed that way. There was no boring or repetitive parts. One drama after another. I like the fact that Cate is just like most of us who stands her ground for what believes in no matter what the cost. She has integrity and strong moral. I love the fact that Lach had been a complete gentleman to her for their bargain.

Just get this book. It is entertaining and easy to get lost in another world with Fae Magic. What have you got to lose?
Four and an half stars from me.
Thank you Entangled and Netgalley for this fun As usual, all of my reviews are purely my own opinions without any influence from any publisher.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 STARS! GREAT FOR THOSE JUST GETTING INTO ROMANTASY!

-SLOW BURN
-ENEMIES TO LOVERS
-BARGAIN (ACOTAR-esque) / MAGIC SPELL
-“TOUCH HER AND YOU DIE”

Pros:
-Lachlan Gage … (shadow daddy vibes, iykyk)
-super easy read (loved reading it after work to dissociate for awhile!)
-strong FMC
-good mix of romance x fantasy, but leans more towards a romance read
-the cliffhanger…OMG what an ending

Things I hope improve in the next book:
-more world building!!! The world has so much untapped potential!!
-Cate’s inner dialogue — I wish we heard more about what she was thinking/seeing rather than just through conversations

If you are new to romantasy or are looking to get into it, this is a great book to get your feet wet!

If you like slow burn and heavy sexual tension… this book is definitely for you!!! The fantasy world this author created was awesome and I enjoyed the banter between the character immensely. The only reason I 4 stared was due to some confusion I had through out the book.

It's insane that Lee got away with publishing two books with literally the same title (Filthy Rich Fae vs Filthy Rich Vampires) that is a play on another famous book title. It may be more insane that I have read them both anyway.

I honestly think that Lee has the foundation to write good fantasy. I thought her world was interesting and the quality of the writing is good. However! She really needs to stop playing into what the audience 'wants'/ what is popular right now. This has like every trope/quality that is so overdone in the genre rn. This made the book hard to rate because I didn't think it was awful, but it also is so unoriginal beyond the basic set up of the world (as you can tell from the title). I especially thought the ending was good, but I was not compelled enough to be jumping on the sequel whenever it comes out.

Filthy Rich Fae. Shut- the- front- door! My fellow readers. Excuse me while I recover from end of the book. Late knight reading. Fae drunken stupor.
If you read the book you understand stand what I’m going through right now. I have so many questions, but I have one in particular for the author? What. The. Hell. Was. That?!
For the past few weeks I’ve come across books that had me on the verge of giving up on reading. Yep I consider it! I can’t believe it myself either. They were some books that took me down that proverbial rabbit hole that most readers fear going down. They were that bad.
But something in the back of my mind said stick it out. Hang in there. On some rare occasions I’ve found some phenomenal gems in the book industry. There have been some books that honestly have blown me away. The books are simply spectacular and writers show exceptional talent.
And might I just add- this book places the author in that category. At least in my opinion it does. Now this is my second fantasy romance read and might I just say fantasy is slowly converting me. Readers this book will have you hooked from the word Channing. What siblings will do for each other?
The story has its twist and surprises that will shock you a little, but will also drop your jaw. Bain? Who the hell do you think you are, walking up in someone’s house like that? Didn’t yo mama teach you some manners? I really believe Ciara had something waiting for that man.
Ring. Ring. “House keeping.”
“Cleaning on the penthouse level please. Bring extra bleach.”
I loved the action and the nipping scenes the best. The constant gain of dominance between Lachlan and Cate in the unique relationship is definitely a love story in itself. It certainly kept the Gages entertained. Can I quickly add that Ciara is my favorite character? Ok. Ciara’s my favorite character. Oh gosh, I’m fan girling.
I knew that woman was a bad you know what from the moment she told Fiona to kick rocks. I believe the woman owned all the men around her, even Lach. Read the book. You will see. Ciara would enter a room, Lach would be like, “ I’m outta hear”.
She has the man wrapped around her finger. All the characters are simply superb. They’re storylines are wonderfully written in this gem of a book. The plot had meaning. The characters actions, and motives sticks to the nail biting end of the book.
Whew, talk about a book with characters and a plot that is so sensational. As a true reader this is one of those books that you will not forget. Now let’s talk about the romance. The love scenes did leave a little to the imagination, but I understand that the book was based around more of the fantasy part. Lach and Cate do have the steam factor, however I would have like to read a little more detail between the sheets.
More of the dirty talk as they say. Stretch the scenes some. Just- a- smidge. Thank you for choosing Cate with a mature age over twenty-four or older. I appreciate that very much. The maturity levels speaks volumes with these characters.
Cate definitely has some credibility behind her critical thinking skills during some intense scenes. The secrets revealed definitely were a show stopper for me. That ending left me floored. In my mind I was like, “ is that how it is huh? You going to leave it like that?
What am I supposed to do until you decide if you want to address all the crazy shenanigans that’s happening in these realms? What the heck is Happening people? I need answers? I totally loved this book. What a way to start off your summer read at the beach.
This is an exciting book to have at book clubs. Gab with your girlfriends and text or Tik Tok about. What ever you do, just make sure that you enjoy reading the book. I give this book two snaps and a question. Which Gage new that Lach invited a Wolfe in sheep’s clothing into his house?
Oh. And uh, I haven’t forgotten about Fiona. Until next time my fellow readers . Read on! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I received Filthy Rich Fae in return for an honest review from Entangled as part of the re-along.

Cate risked everything to protect her brother even walked into the a world she knew nothing about and making a deal that will change her life forever. However, the more time she spends with Lachlan and his family the more she starts to question what she knows. She can't deny the attraction and the more time she spends she finds herself falling for him.

I love the concept for Filthy Rich Fae the idea of the wild hunt, the fae and the different courts was really interesting. Of course I love Lachlan he's the morally grey fae prince I was hoping for when I started this one. I ended up devouring it in just a day because I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed the story so much that I decided to grab the audiobook and listen to it again and it was just as amazing. I loved the narrators who did this one. Highly recommend listening to the audiobook.

I love the author's Filthy Rich Vampire series so of course I had to jump at the chance to read Filthy Rich Fae and I'm so glad that I got the opportunity. This one might have just pushed Filthy Rich Vampires out of my top spot as I just loved Cate and Lachlan so much. The author is very talented when it comes to weaving a captivating story that captures the heart as well as the imagination. Filthy Rich Fae is a romance with engaging characters and beautiful story. I can't wait for the next one so I can see what happens next. Eek the waiting is the worst but I know it's going to be worth it.

ARC Review
✨️wow✨️
🌶🌶🌶🌶

Cate lives a quiet life as a New Orleans nurse while recovering from childhood trauma. Her days spent saving lives from a local drug epidemic, in the hospital owned by the drug supplier himself. That is, until the patient on the gurney is no longer nameless, but her adoptive brother, and the only family she has.

Turns out that against his better judgment, Cate's brother has found himself in yet another predicament, this time unfortunately owing a favor to the dangerous Lachlan Gage. Cate would do ANYTHING for her brother, and this leads her right to the door of the Gage family, demanding an audience with Lachlan.

Enter Lachlan, cocky, egotistical, and HANDSOME. Cate is well over her head when she makes a deal with what she finds out is not just the most dangerous man in New Orleans, but also a Fae. Before she even realizes she's sealed a deal she's whisked away to the Otherworld, where she now must face the reality that the creatures of stories are actually real, and Gage is not just any Fae, but a prince.

Cate starts off desperate to leave, searching every avenue for an opportunity to break the deal, until she starts to see who Lachlan really is. Maybe he isn't the monster that he's portrayed as, but what is it exactly that he wants with her? Why is it her demands her soul and all of her evenings to him for the rest of her life?

A fast-paced grumpy X grumpy Romance🤣 the buildup on this one was very slow, but I kind of appreciated that? And the spice hits hard at the end, but in the early chapters of the book you get an opportunity to learn who the characters really are. While the plot is easy enough, it keeps this read to the low thought and low effort, making it perfect for a relaxing read or palate cleanser. I was lucky enough to score this title as an arc and participated in a group read along! Turned out to be the perfect airport read!

I gave Filthy Rich Fae five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you Entangled Publishing for the ARC and the read along. These are my honest opinions.

Holy hell! I loved this book! I loved everything about it. The angst, the slow burn, the world building, the characters. All of it.

There are enough twists and turns to keep you guessing about some things. There are other things that I predicted and I was happy to see them come true. I was so invested in all of the characters, but especially Cate and Lach. I loved Ciara, too. I want to be her best friend!

It does end on a cliffhanger and book 2 doesn’t come out until January 2025 😥 but I already have it preordered because it is going to be epic!

This book was a slow burn for me, both in terms of plot and romance. Yet I burned right through it! I was deeply invested in the main characters and their storylines. Cate is a strong and resilient survivor, and I admired her character greatly. I suspect we have much more to learn about Cate… Lach, despite being introduced in a vulnerable situation, revealed himself to be a complex yet endearing character— The last 20% of the book had me on the edge of my seat, and the ending left me utterly distraught - I was literally crying with frustration! I NEED THE NEXT BOOK 👏🏼 PRONTO 😭

Geneva has done it again!! I loved the Filthy Rich Vampires series and honestly wasn’t expecting this to even come close but it was SO MUCH BETTER!!!

I loved that this was set in New Orleans and had a bit of a gangster vibe with so many plot twists and the ending left on a cliff hanger that has me salivating for the next book. Like running to preorder without having a clue when it comes lol!!

The slow burn was slow burning, the shopping sprees had me jealous, and the friendships and relationships were like I was there with them!

LOVED this book!

The worst thing about this book was the title. It’s terrible and needed to be focus grouped. I heavily debated not rostering this book to my Goodreads because of the title but here we are.

I read the ARC when my friend got it as a part of a promotional package and I picked it up as a bit. I fully didn’t expect to be able to make it past the first 20 pages but I ended up reading it all in 24 hours.

It was very readable. I enjoyed it and well paced. I think any fan of ACOTAR (or just romantasy in general) would also like it. I would read the sequel when it comes out.

Flithy Rich Fae by @genevaleebooks blew me away. I was honestly not expecting to love this book so much. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25 Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Synopsis: Cate finds herself rescuing her brother from the notorious Gage family. When bargain begets bargain, Cate is thrust into Lachlan Gage’s world. However, what appears to be a criminal family is much more as Cate learns her world is more magical than she knew. Lachlan is fae and his bargain is binding. Will she find a way out of the bargain or be stuck in his world forever?
My thoughts: Lachlan is my new book boyfriend! Cate was a great female lead. Unlike some of the other Romantasy books I read this year, neither character kept making decisions I found super annoying. The cliffhanger!!!!
