Microsoft knows how to make surprises. For today, without any prior announcements, a horror adventure game Close to the Sun was added to the Game Pass offer. The work by Storm in a Teacup can be played on Xbox consoles, PC and via the cloud.

However, this is not the end of great news, because in addition to Close to the Sun on January 9, Game Pass library will include, among others, Assassin's Creed: Valhalla.

Ubisoft's 2020 hit is a real gem among Microsoft's January offerings. On OpenCritic the game's average rating from the critics is 83/100.

The action of Valhalla takes place in the north of 9th-century Europe. Players take on the role of a character named Eivor, who stands - though not at first - at the head of a Viking clan. Interestingly, at the beginning of the game we can not only choose a female or male version of the character, but also let the animus switch between these versions at a later stage.

AC: Valhalla is characterized by a huge open world with plenty of quests, the completion of which involves dozens of hours of fun.

On the other hand, those with no taste for such sprawling gameplay will be able to immerse themselves in the terrifying story of Resident Evil 2. The full-fledged remake of the 1998 game debuted on current-gen consoles in 2022 - on PC, PS4 and XOne in 2019 - and earned very positive reviews from both gamers and industry reviewers in the process.

Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 in Game Pass?

Finally, it is worth mentioning that the first two installments of Baldur's Gate seem to be getting closer to Game Pass release. This is evidenced by the notifications that subscribers to Microsoft's service are receiving (via TrueAchievements.com).

"Rediscover 2 RPG classics. Customize your hero, recruit brave allies and explore mystical realms in search of adventure, profit... and the truth. Play Baldur's Gate I and Baldur's Gate II with Game Pass," reads the content of the message sent out to users.

For now, however, it is unclear when exactly the said games would be coming to Microsoft's service.
