As announced, the first trailer for the game Tales of the Shire from Weta Workshop studio, which created the special effects for the film trilogies Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, hit the internet today. We learned through it what exactly the game set in the universe created by J.R.R. Tolkien will offer, with its main slogan being "Welcome home, Hobbit!"

Tales of the Shire is a charming life simulation game where we get to play as a self-created hobbit. We will get a game combining elements of titles such as Stardew Valley and The Sims. The first trailer presents an idyllic town called Bywater, where we will live. Cartoonish graphics and calm music perfectly fit such a concept.

In contrast to the majority of games released to date, whose action takes place in Middle-earth (e.g. the Middle-earth series), in Tales of the Shire we won't be engaging in combat. Hobbits are naturally calm and shun violence, so in the upcoming release, players will have the opportunity to unwind, concentrate on decorating their own homes, beautifying the garden, and building relationships with neighbors.

Speaking of the inhabitants of the town of Bywater, it's worth mentioning that in Tales of the Shire, we will meet "iconic characters and familiar Hobbit families," which will undoubtedly be a treat for fans of The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings films.

Hobbits have a passion for food, which is why a key game mechanic involves cooking new dishes in their kitchen using caught fish, gathered mushrooms, and grown vegetables. We can invite the neighbors to a dinner prepared by us, throw a big party, and even organize "the biggest festival ever seen in all of Bywater and Shire." You can also engage in trading with the town's residents to obtain items that interest us.

Interestingly, Tales of the Shire will feature a seasonal cycle and a weather change system. This will affect the activities carried out by other hobbits, and most likely also the plants we grow. Exploring the entire town and the nearby areas is worthwhile not only for admiring the scenery but also for discovering valuable treasures. Besides, the game will offer "club missions" related to everyday activities that will help Bywater gain official village status.
