Rumors have been circulating for some time suggesting that Ubisoft is working on a new installment of the Ghost Recon series. It's possible that we just learned new specifics on this subject.

All because of the castings organized by Ubisoft. The company is looking for actors for a game currently operating under the title "Project Gone." It is described as a "tactical military video game about navigating the intricacies of war." It's probably the new Ghost Recon, although another installment from the Rainbow Six series cannot be ruled out. However, the chances of this second scenario seem small, especially considering the information about the plot.

  1. The action of Project Gone is set to take place in Southeast Asia. Ubisoft is looking for, among others, a character named Kya-Win, who will most likely be a villain. This is a former head of the National Secret Police, who started acting on his own and is trying to incite a revolution in the region.
  2. The announcement also listed several other roles of soldiers and agents who will most likely join the Ghosts unit.

According to previous rumors, the next installment of the series will return to the first-person view. The action is set to take place in a "Southeast Asian country where the fictional Naiman war is raging," which aligns with casting reports, so almost certainly Project Gone is the new Ghost Recon.

We have been waiting for the next installment of the series for five years already. The last part was Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint released in 2019. Later, Ubisoft also worked on the online Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Frontline, but the project was canceled.

It's worth mentioning that the games from the series have been heavily discounted during the current summer sale on Steam. The discounts are big - Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands can be purchased for $4.99, and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint costs $5.99.
