Second Cyberpunk 2077 DLC Was Supposed to Take Us to the Moon. Old Leak Sources New Graphics From Very Early Stage of Development
All evidence suggests that the second DLC for the Cyberpunk 2077 game was to be set on the Moon. Graphics from the early stages of work on the expansion unreleased by the CD Projekt Red studio appeared online.
Cyberpunk 2077 received only one expansion - Phantom Liberty. However, CD Projekt Red had a second DLC in its plans, which was ultimately not developed. Despite everything, the files of this project have been preserved, which were recently revealed on the Internet.
In 2021, a lot of information about potential new content for the Polish RPG was leaked. The recently released files are said to originate from that hacker attack. Why were they presented only now? As the publisher points out, previously, information was simply ignored (initially, we knew nothing about the second DLC).
They show that the second DLC was to be set on the Moon, inhabited in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, which somewhat confirms previous speculations. This would mean that the devs would give us a completely new map to play with, similar to the case of the Blood and Wine expansion for The Witcher 3.
The content presented includes many intriguing graphics from the early stages of developing a new adventure. Among them are, for instance, a map design project and various building models where the action of the unreleased expansion would unfold.
Let's recall that CD Projekt Red argued for the release of only one DLC due to technical issues. The studio decided to develop games based on Unreal Engine 5. The title itself will no longer be developed, so we can't count on new content. Therefore, we have to wait for the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.
