Returnal's Update 2.0 Introduces Unusual Save Game System

Returnal received update 2.0. It introduces unusual save game system and photo mode.

UPDATE 2.0 OFFERS:
  1. A system of suspending the cycle, enabling us to create single-use saves game state;
  2. Photo mode.

A major update has been released for Returnal, the excellent shooter from Housemarque. The patch is numbered 2.0 and brings a lot of anticipated novelties.

First of all, the patch added an option to suspend the cycle. It works differently than a traditional save system. Each save game state in the game is "consumable". After resuming the game it is deleted and cannot be used again. In practice, this enables us to stop the game and continue it at a later date. However, it is impossible to use this system to repeatedly attempt to complete a given section. If we die, we return to the standard rebirth point, and not to the place where the cycle was suspended.

The devs have introduced some limitations to this option. We can not suspend the cycle during boss battles, cut-scenes, FPP sequences and intense battles. The devs believe that this system will enable the players to play in shorter sessions and increase the comfort of gameplay without depriving the game of its tension and roguelike character.

Update 2.0 also added a photo mode, which enables us to pause the game and get full control over the camera to set it up for the perfect photo. There are also numerous filters and effects, beautifying our pictures.

Returnal was released on April 30th, this year. The game is available exclusively for the PlayStation 5 console.
