New World is Now Steam's Biggest 2021 Release

New World, which debuts today, is the biggest launch of 2021 on Steam. The number of simultaneous players continues to grow. The MMORPG from Amazon Games dethroned Valheim, which held the previous record.

New World had a great launch on Steamand it didn't take long for it break the record set by Valheim with 498 thousand simultaneous players. New World has currently attracted over 500 thousand players on Steam, and their number is still growing. Significantly, both new and old leader came out exclusively on PC and are only available on Steam. This means that the above statistics illustrates the full interest in a given title, and not just a fragment of the whole limited to one platform.

Interestingly, although according to Steam's data New World is currently played by half a million people, the stats presented on NewWorldStatus.com claims that the game is actually played by about 300,000 users of Valve's platform - the rest are waiting in gigantic queues.
