Both Yasuke and Naoe, protagonists from the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Shadows, have already sparked significant controversy. Not everyone liked the projects shown by Ubisoft, but the studio doesn't seem to be too bothered by it. An in-depth presentation has now been released, providing a detailed description of the attire and equipment of the main characters.

Naoe

The design of Naoe's outfit primarily aims to combine two images - the terrifying ninja and the member of the assassin's brotherhood. As a shinobi, she wears a dark blue attire with a kimono tied under the arms in the Tasuki style, which allows for easier combat. She uses the motif of the eagle as a member of the brotherhood, which is visible on her back, along with the iconic red accent.

The devs also pay attention to details such as armor elements on the shins and forearms, or the tsuba tied across the shoulders, even though Naoe herself doesn't use the traditional Daito. Additionally, on the character's tunic, we can see patterns of clouds.

When it comes to equipment, the young shinobi carries smoke bombs, kunai knives, a hook, a kusarigama, and a pouch for items with her. He also wields a hidden blade on her left wrist, a gift from his father. It can rotate 90 degrees, helping with the assassinations. Naoe will also have a Ninjato katana and a Tanto dagger.

Yasuke

Yasuke's armament elements are mainly symbolic, with his belt pattern and color reminding of his native Mozambique, and the bull-horned helmet symbolizing his boundless strength. As a protege of Oda Nobunaga, he also carries symbols of his power - a dragon, a flower, and the color gold.

Although the armor looks decorative, its main purpose is to ensure safety. The devs also take note of smaller details, like menpo and armpit plates, which were crucial elements in a samurai's defense.

As a strong warrior, Yasuke wields a Daito katana and a shorter version of this type of weapon called Wakizashi. However, he also doesn't look down on other heavy gear, like clubs or polearms.
