Unreal Engine 5 is Perfect for Dark Games; Layers of Fear Will Prove It

Bloober Team has presented a new trailer for Layers of Fear. The footage shows various uses of Unreal Engine 5.

Bloober Team and Anshar Studios have shared a new trailer for the upcoming Layers of Fear. The trailer focuses on the technical aspects of the game, which - let's recall - is being powered by Unreal Engine 5.

Technology in the service of atmosphere

Among the most important applications of Epic Games' new engine, the two-minute video lists:

  1. Lumen lighting system - responsible for the dynamic play of light and shadow;
  2. ray tracing support - designed to help create realistic environments;
  3. the Niagara system - allowing for advanced particle effects.

These are not all the visual "highlights" to be offered by Layers of Fear. The game will support Nvidia DLSS and Intel XeSS technologies, which are expected to help achieve satisfactory performance. This should provide a smooth experience at 4K resolution and support for HDR - regardless of whether the viewer opts for the PC or console version.

In the trailer, the developers make a bold claim that all the aforementioned technological innovations will enable them to create an even more immersive world straight out of a nightmare.

The third part in the horror game series

Layers of Fear will be the third installment in the series. Although the title is similar to that of the first game, this year's installment will offer a fresh story. The game is scheduled for release in June 2023. The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
