Sometimes modifications can go a long way. Often, they are meant to provide additional content for beloved games, but there are situations where they can sprout into a whole new production. There are many famous examples like Counter Strike emerging from Half-Life or DOTA 2 from Warcraft III. However, there is also a bit less known title that originally began as a mod for Unreal Tournament 2004Killing Floor. The series is popular enough that the third instalment has been announced, while the second part is now reliving its golden days, yet not without hiccups. Many people going back to Killing Floor 2 can be unpleasantly surprised by “Item Server Connection” error. What it is? Let’s find out!

Item Server Connection in Killing Floor 2 explained

Killing Floor 2, the latest (thus far) instalment of the series established 15 years ago, is going through a renaissance after a free weekend has started. Not only that, but also a huge 95% discount is now in place. This makes it as cheap as $1.49, which is a steal for such well received title. Due to that, many new people are exploring the game, but also old fans are coming back (via SteamDB). Unfortunately, many of them experience Item Server Connection error.

The sudden popularity of the production is the direct reason for the problems with connection, as confirmed by the developers on Twitter. In said statement, they have apologised for issues and informed that they are working on improvements. It means that, sadly, there is nothing to be done on our end, as the creators have to scale their infrastructure to handle the influx of players. We can only wait for the official resolution from their side.

Nonetheless, it is still worth spending the money on the game, as the problems with servers will be handled soon leaving us with great production to be enjoyed for the years to come. Have fun!
