Al Pacino has become a risk-taker. The actor, who is famous for his brilliant performances in The Godfather and Scarface, among others, has for some time been taking on roles in films that don't promise to be good. The actor confessed that he does this on purpose because he believes he can make them better. Or at least he wants to try to do so, which is why his filmography includes several rotten apples that the artist has tried to save.

Al Pacino talked about his approach to selecting the productions he stars in during an interview with GQ.

You know what? I may be falling into a bad habit now. I think I’m starting to get a little perverse. I’m starting to want to do films that aren’t really very good and try to make them better. And that’s become my challenge. I don’t think I go in thinking it’s not gonna be very good, but it’s like Bob [Robert DeNiro] said: Sometimes they offer you money to do something that’s not adequate. And you talk yourself into it.

And somewhere within you, you know that this thing is gonna be a lemon. But then, when it comes full circle, and you see it, you say, “Oh, no. I’m gonna make this better.” And you spend a lot of time and you’re doing all these things, and you say, “If I can just get this to be a mediocre film,” and you get excited by that. It’s an impulse that I’ve got to just put that away now.

Pacino has an impressive track record as an actor, he has managed to make his mark on cinematic history and now he can afford to experiment in a mentioned way, trying to improve the projects that are offered to him and which don’t promise to be particularly good. And Al Pacino with his talent is likely to succeed in this field.

However, as he admitted, although he is excited by such opportunities, he has to fight this habit of appearing in bad films.
