Keeping your villagers fed is crucial in ASKA. Sure, the game offers diverse food options, but this guide will show you how to truly master the art of sustenance. We'll teach you not just how to catch fish, but also how to find and prepare meat. Most importantly, you'll learn how to turn your haul into delicious and nutritious meals that will keep your entire tribe thriving.

How to Catch Fish in Aska

After crafting a Flimsy Fishing Rod and making some bait in ASKA, head to the ocean to cast your line. In this game, there are no indicators to signal if you're about to catch a fish. Instead, wait for the bobber to submerge and stay underwater for a while.

However, don’t focus all your attention on the bobber. Keep an eye on the tip of the fishing rod. When it starts to bounce, click the left mouse button to reel in the fish. If you're too slow, you'll lose the bait and won't catch anything. And don’t forget to chop the fish with a knife.

Later on, you can build a Fisherman Hut with 20 slots of fish storage, though the building is quite expensive.

How to Get Meat in Aska

Similar to fishing, obtaining raw meat in ASKA requires specific equipment. Various weapons can be used to hunt animals. After successfully taking down a creature, you'll need to butcher the meat with a knife before storing it in your inventory.

To enhance the efficiency of meat gathering, build a Hunter’s Hut as soon as possible and assign a villager to manage it.

How to Cook in Aska

In ASKA, you can prepare food in two ways:

  1. Grill it on the Barbecue – The barbecue Add-On must be placed over a Campfire and is available early in the game, but it’s best for just feeding yourself. The barbecued food is simply a single heated food item.
  2. Use the Crock Pot in a Cooking House – The food cooked in this building is a full meal, that requires more ingredients. Dishes made in the Cooking House are more nutritious and offer better buffs. For stews, you can use at least three of the same ingredients and two liters of water, while soups require four liters. New recipes are quite easy to learn; just experiment with mixing different ingredients together.

Food lasts longer in a warehouse than in your inventory or on the ground. You'll also need dedicated storage for cooked food and should assign a villager to manage the warehouse to ensure ingredients are moved to the Cooking House.
