Several months have passed since the last news about the PC version of Final Fantasy XVI. Therefore, it's not surprising that the prolonged silence from Square Enix has started to pique the curiosity of impatient gamers regarding the current status of the project's development. Fortunately, the editors of Game Informer came to their aid and contacted the game's developer, Naoki Yoshida.

In a conversation with journalists, the Japanese dev revealed that Final Fantasy XVI is currently in the final phase of optimization. How these works will proceed will determine when the game will hit the market.

In terms of where we are in development currently, we're trying to figure out the final stages of optimization right now. When we can release the PC version might be dependent on that -- the system requirements and specifications for PC that players will need, so we're trying to figure that out. Naturally, [the PC specifications] are looking to be somewhat high -- explained the dev.

Yoshida put some hope into the hearts of players, assuring that work on the PC port is going smoothly. By the way, he asked the community to give the company "some time" to announce the premiere of "Sixteen" on PC.

Final Fantasy XVI demo on PC

Square Enix intends to launch a demo of Final Fantasy XVI on PC before the full game is released. Although the developer didn't share a specific date here, it is to take place within the next 12 months.

We're looking to release a demo for the PC version as well [PS5 also got one]. Again, we can't really talk about too much in terms of details of when it's going to come out [...].

But one thing's for sure: It won't be too distant in the future; it won't be a year, it won't be two years, it will probably be shorter than that, so stay tuned -- he added.
