The Terminator 2029 on PC DOS is a cyberpunk firt-person shooter based on The Terminator, a well-known science fiction movie by James Cameron. It is the second video game based on this film license produced by the American company Bethesda.

Plot

The plot of The Terminator 2029 is not a direct adaptation of the movie or its continuation Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The main inspirations for the developers were the scenes appearing in both films, showing a gloomy vision of the future, in which rebel groups fought hostile cyborgs in ruined Los Angeles. We play as a member of a special strike group led by Colonel John Connor, known from the movies, whose task is to destroy the Skynet artificial intelligence, which controls the merciless machines.

Mechanics

As in the predecessor released a year earlier, the action is presented from the first-person perspective, and a large part of the screen is occupied by an extensive HUD, showing the map, health points or ammunition. We can't move freely - our movement has been limited to four directions and 90 degree turns.

Most of the missions, preceded by a special briefing, boils down to reaching a specific place and completing objectives. We defeat the cyborgs by using several types of weapons and equipment, acquired gradually with our progress. An interesting solution is the advanced combat armor worn by our hero, which has four configurable slots in which we can put weapons and gadgets.

Other

In 1993, the game has received an expansion called Operation Scour. It contains a set of new missions, in which our task is to destroy the secret headquarters of Skynet.
