Momodora: Moonlit Farewell is the fifth game in the Momodora series and a direct sequel to the third installment. This metroidvania made in the form of an action platform game was developed by an independent studio Bombservice, which takes care of the series, and it was published by Playism.

Plot

The action of Momodora: Moonlit Farewell takes place five years after the events presented in the third part of the series. Striking an ominous bell has brought great misfortune to the village of Koho in the form of an oncoming demon invasion. The most talented priestess, Momo Reinol, is sent by the matron on a mission to investigate the bell and find the offender. They both hope that in this way they will be able to avert the danger hanging over the village.

The story presented in the game has been told in such a way that both players familiar with the previous parts of the series and those who are just beginning their adventure in the world of Momodora or those who have only experienced the prequel Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight can find themselves in here.

Game mechanics

Momodora: Moonlit Farewell features side-scrolling action. Moving through various stages, Momo jumps on platforms and avoids numerous traps, as well as faces enemies. Apart from regular opponents, on her way there are also huge bosses, which can be defeated only by learning their weak points.

During the dynamic fights we have to show dexterity and reflexes, efficiently performing evasions and making quick counterattacks, as well as combining attacks in murderous combinations. Momo eliminates enemies using cold weapon and also by using bow. As we progress, we earn special seals, which not only increase the protagonist's combat potential, but also allow us to adjust her fighting style to individual preferences.

Technical aspects

Graphics of Momodora: Moonlit Farewell is made in pixel art style known from previous parts of the series.
