Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is a thoroughly refreshed version of the popular 2006 action game. Capcom, which has been in charge of the brand from the beginning, is behind the development and release of this item.

The plot

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster takes us to the fictional American town of Willamette, Colorado, which for unknown reasons has been quarantined and cut off from the world by the US Army. Sensation-seeking reporter Frank West arrives on the scene and quickly discovers that a zombie apocalypse has broken out here, and those who managed to survive have taken refuge in the local mall. From now on, the journalist has 72 hours to investigate and discover the truth about the events that took place here before his evacuation begins.

Gameplay

In Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). The production puts at our disposal the entire shopping center, through which we can freely move, getting to know the characters hiding in it and completing tasks for them, conducting journalistic investigations and gradually uncovering pieces of the plot puzzle or, finally, fighting enemies. Although among the latter the living dead are in the lead, there is no shortage of psychopaths to contend with.

Weaponscan be anything we can find in the stores we visit - from toys and sports equipment (such as baseball bats), through furniture and electronics, to construction tools (such as hammers) and finally white- and firearms. When cladding or firing at adversaries, we must remember that white weapons deteriorate over time, while pistols and rifles are suitable for discarding when we empty their magazines.

In addition, the game offers a wide range of clothing items that West can put on himself. Among them appear all kinds of masks, suits and uniforms. In addition, in the mall one can find books providing us with various bonuses, food and drinks regenerating the hero's health, as well as basically useless items implemented here only for humorous purposes, such as a replica of Megabuster from the Mega Man series, which shoots tennis balls.

As befits a journalist, Frank also carries a camera with which he can capture the events he takes part in, as well as the creatures he faces. In return for taking pictures and performing other actions, the protagonist accumulates so-called Prestige Points and gains levels; with successive promotions his strength, speed, resistance to damage or even stamina increases.

The elapsed time plays an important role here - depending on whether and how we manage to complete the investigation within 72 hours (with time in the game flowing about twelve times faster than real time), we will see a different ending.

New engine and other improvements

Compared to the original, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster stands out due to a number of improvements. The authors enriched their work with automatic saves, bent over the controls, improved the interface, and took care of the full soundtrack of dialogue issues.

In addition, the title runs on the RE Engine, which previously powered, among others, a number of games in the Resident Evil series or even the Dragon's Dogma II project.
