In a gruesome turn-ofevents, two people from the house were tortured and killed for harbouring and aiding Catholic priests and it is thought it was this practice that led Robert Catesby and Guy Fawkes to come up with the
Gunpowder Plot.

And it was the converted Catholic, Thomas Percy, born around 1563, and Constable of Alnwick Castle, who was one of the principal architects of the
Gunpowder Plot.
While most people know Fawkes was a Catholic who conspired to blow up the Protestant-run House of Parliament in 1605 --and England's King James I-- there is much more to the
