CORSAIR CUSTOM LAB: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

PC gaming gear is a largely monotone affair. Mice, Keyboards, Mouse pads… They all come in black, or sometimes if you’re lucky – white. While such dazzling colors might have been impressive in the era of beige, these days, it’s not enough.

Of course, you’re free to break out the paintbrushes and do something about it yourself, though this is risky business, especially if you’re not artistically inclined. Another option is to send your gear away to be customized by a professional, which can yield impressive results, but is costly and can in some cases affect the warranties of the products in question.

These drawbacks bothered us, so we decided to do something about it, and that something is Corsair Custom Lab.

CORSAIR Custom Lab allows you to create a customized collection of PC gaming peripherals right from your browser. Making it easier and quicker than ever to craft a gaming setup by choosing the designs you like the most, rather than being given the colors you dislike the least.

Sounds good doesn’t it? Well, here’s how it works, and what it’s capable of.

Taking a leaf out of SCUF’s book, we’ve designed the configurator to be as simple as possible to use, as curating a customized keyboard should be fun, not tedious or confusing. You can start from a specific product, or from an overall design that you can further hone in.

This is possible because CORSAIR Custom Lab doesn’t simply apply a design to the product in question. You can mix and match different parts of it during the configuration process, resulting in a truer sense of customization. (And some unique gear as a result).

After perfecting your designs in the configurator, your work is done as CORSAIR steps in to create whatever you came up with. Taking advantage of our considerably broad shipping channels we can get your new set of custom gaming gear out of the door and to you far more quickly than personalized products normally arrive.

Additionally, if you’re in the market for a complete overhaul, buying a bundle of gear is substantially cheaper than the individual products would be. This means you save some money, while getting a refreshed gaming setup.

Upon release, we’ve added the M75 WIRELESS, K65 PLUS WIRELESS, and the MM300 mousepads to the range. More will follow soon, but we’re starting with these. As they’re great products with wide appeal. Of course, different products have different customization options, so let’s go over which sections of each product are on the table for you to mess with.

CORSAIR K65 PLUS WIRELESS

The keyboard functions as the centrepiece of any good gaming setup. As such, we made sure to provide full customization here. The options are as follows:

• Frame: Black or White
• Keycaps: Dreamscape, Topographic, Celestial, Velocity, Sci-Fi Light, Sci-Fi Dark, White Cherry, Dark Cherry, Respawn, or Red Tiger
• Switches: CORSAIR MLX v2 linear, Cherry MX Blue Clicky, Cherry MX Speed Linear
• Optional wrist rest.

With the current options, there is a total of 60 possible combinations for the K65 PLUS WIRELESS. All available right from the CCL configurator.

M75 WIRELESS

With the keyboard taken care of, we move to the sidearm. Often overlooked though equally vital, the gaming mouse, in this case the M75 WIRELESS must be highly customizable, too. Here’s what’s on offer:

• Base: Black, White, Light Grey, Red, Blue, Purple, or Pink.
• Face plate: Dreamscape, Topographic, Celestial, Velocity, Sci-Fi Light, Sci-Fi Dark, White Cherry, Dark Cherry, Respawn, Red Tiger, White, Light Grey, Red, Blue, Purple, or Pink.
• Side Buttons: Black, White, Light Grey, Red, Blue, Purple, Pink, or Yellow.
• Scroll Wheel: Black, or Light Grey.
• Feet: PTFE, or Glass.
• Cable & Dongle: Black, or White.

This makes for a staggering 7,616 possible M75 Combinations, which is quite bonkers, as unless you stick with a safe configuration, you’ll probably end up with a mouse that literally no one else owns. Quite the flex there.

MM300 Mouse Pads

The numbers won’t be quite as mind-blowing for the mouse pads. Seeing as the mouse pad frames the rest of your peripherals, simplicity is key here. So, you can have an expanded version of the 10 designs from the M75 and K65 PLUS.

Additionally, the designs are present on the edges, but fade out across the middle. This is ideal as it means that the area of the mouse pad that’s likely to wear out first is relatively plain, so it will age more gracefully. Plus, the middle will be covered up by the mouse and keyboard anyway, so arguably any designs on this bit would be wasted anyway.

Just to be clear, any product you get via Corsair Custom Lab will still hold the same performance and specs as the regular version. You aren’t giving up anything, so you get style and substance simultaneously. A rarity in the world of PC gaming.

This is just the beginning, too. Going forward, we’ll be adding more of our peripherals to the CORSAIR Custom Lab. So, if the K65 PLUS or M75 WIRELESS aren’t what you want, wait a few months and we might just add the product you’ve got your eye on.
