Hey, game creators! Comic-Con’s got your back once again with the Gaming Creator Connection (GCC). Whether you’re already in the industry or dreaming of breaking in, this is your chance to soak up some serious wisdom. Get ready for valuable advice, insights, and mentorship from seasoned gaming pros with diverse backgrounds.

The Gaming Creator Connection is organized by professional game developers, including a former executive director of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) and Global Game Jam (GGJ), and run by Comic-Con. The GCC is a perfect opportunity to seek expert guidance in one of three core areas:

Art/Design

Narrative

Business

Artists of all kinds (general, character, environment, UI, etc.)

Writers, narrative designers, editors, world builders, etc.

A range of topics pertaining to indie start-ups, funding, marketing, pitching skills, etc.

Participants will have around 10–15 minutes to speak with a mentor and will be able to rotate between mentors in their field of interest in order to maximize the amount of feedback.

GAME PITCH REVIEW

The Game Pitch Review is back this year, where participants can pitch their game ideas to a panel of experienced game developers for three minutes. The panel will provide constructive criticism to help participants refine their pitches. Sign-ups are on-site and it’s first-come, first-served.

TO PARTICIPATE

Before signing up for the Game Pitch Review, make sure you’re ready to roll! Participants need to be prepared ahead of time so everyone can make the most of their pitch session. Those who aren’t prepared might miss out on their chance to pitch. Come prepared with:

1. A well-practiced, 3–5 minute verbal pitch that clearly explains the game concept, how it’s unique to the marketplace, why it would be worth funding, etc.

2. Any hardcopy or digital visuals (images, video, etc.) that help illustrate the concept and viability of the idea (you must bring the device on which you will display the visuals).

3. Be imaginative in your pitch and be passionate; imagine you’re making a very quick pitch to receive funding for your idea.
