Publisher's Summary

In My Gita, acclaimed mythologist Devdutt Pattanaik demystifies The Bhagavad Gita for the contemporary reader. His unique approach - thematic rather than verse by verse - makes the ancient treatise eminently accessible.

In a world that seems spellbound by argument over dialogue, vi-vaad over sam-vaad, Devdutt highlights how Krishna nudges Arjuna to understand rather than judge his relationships. This becomes relevant today when we are increasingly indulging and isolating the self (self-improvement, self-actualization, self-realization - even selfies!). We forget that we live in an ecosystem of others, where we can nourish each other with food, love and meaning, even when we fight.

So let My Gita inform your Gita.

know Mahabharat and Ramayana first

narration was good, but as it is Gita, there's always complexity involved. listen Ramayana and Mahabharat first to fill the gaps

My Gita

it's very different experience. Many different opinions on all characters. I read Gita Darshan, all parts by Osho. So I was curious to learn by other aspects of recent century author. I am glad that I listen completely. Thank u. Devdatt hi n team.🙏😇

Good one!

was waiting to get my hands on this and chose audiobook format and t was a good decision.
The author has very well laid out what this book is gonna be and whereabouts of Gita and it's adaptation overtime. Good for beginners before moving into reading the Gita itself!

Its not about Bhagvat Gita

Its speak hear and there about Gita and its teachings as per author interpretation but its not Bhagvat Gita in total, I prefer still read the actual one.

this book deserves a better narrator

interpreting any art is ultimately an act of self reflection. 'my gita’ is at its core the reflection of the author's inner self, that he expresses through his book. it is fairly intimate in its expression.

while I enjoyed references to the various mythological tales sprinkles throughout the text as analogies for explaining concepts, I found constant cross-referencing to western civilization and religious systems a little distasteful. it unintentionally sets a western colonial lens on a text that deserves an independent cultural existence.

overall the writing is simpleand illustrious that makes reading an enjoy experience.

my biggest gripe with this audiobook, however is the narrator, who has a awkward english accent while pronouncing sanskrit words. it seemed like he wasn't comfortable with the indic phonetics. it constantly distracted me and took me out of the headspace of the discourse. would recommend the narrator to be someone who is fluent in atleast one of the many indic languages.
