Publisher's summary

Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College – Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky.

Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is – unless she betrays the man she loves.

Although Violet’s body might be weaker and frailer than everyone else’s, she still has her wits – and a will of iron. And leadership is forgetting the most important lesson Basgiath has taught her: Dragon riders make their own rules.

But a determination to survive won’t be enough this year.

Because Violet knows the real secret hidden for centuries at Basgiath War College – and nothing, not even dragon fire, may be enough to save them in the end.

Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!

Better performance than part 1

Not sure what changed, but the narrations were much better in part 2 than in part one. I’d say they are close to Fourth Wing level performances. Sgaeyl’s voice was, I believe, the same VA, but the voice was wrong, so that was disappointing. Gabriel Michael stepped up his game, a vast improvement over part one. (The throne scene 🥵🥵)

I hope all the VAs return for Onyx Storm.

PART 2 WAS THE ABSOLUTE BEST

The battle music, the characters, the voice actors, the amount of love poured into this is felt and I was in TEARS! So good!!!!

Wow...

The graphic audio makes these books even better. Voice acting is typically spot on and gives more life to these characters. The story has continued to hook me in and I can't wait to see what is in store for them in the next book after the cliff hanger they left us with

Great but,

They left out sooooo much dialogue and a lot of violets thought process. That’s not the actor’s or the story’s fault though. Just sucks when you know what’s missing. Everything else was great!

The ending was so powerful

The chills, the tears. Love it. This is my favorite way to listen. Bummer that it takes 2 credits per book, but it’s worth it

Enjoyed, but changes or missing scenes

Overall I enjoyed. There was some tones or inflections I read very differently. But gave another perspective so not mad. I was a little sad that they cut some scenes. And honestly. Every little detail matters with some of the theories. So if you’re only listening to this you might miss some pieces.

Great story but slightly disappointed.

I absolutely LOVED the graphic audio of Fourth Wing, both parts, but was kinda disappointed in the Iron Flame ones. I like to read the story as I listen to it and there were a few scenes they cut that I think should have been put in but overall, I loved it. Highly recommend them. If I hadn't read the book first and didn't know what scenes were cut, I'd have enjoyed it more. But over all as I said, very good.
