Story
Romance can be a little complicated when you get sucked into a wormhole. Just ask high school English teacher June Flint. One little solar flare happens and suddenly you find yourself 85 years in the future. Eighty-five years from your dream job. Your ailing mother whose only companion in this world is you. Your favorite stuffed-crust pizza from DeLucia’s on Sunday nights. But when June’s cell phone inexplicably picks up a signal, she’s able to call back to the present—more specifically, four weeks before she accidentally time traveled.

A sweet story for any one who loves a rom com. I loved the solar flare (super light) sci fi time bending twist. Fantastic all cast recording was the cherry on top.

Story
Sam and Sadie—two college friends, often in love, but never lovers—become creative partners in a dazzling and intricately imagined world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality. It is a love story, but not one you have heard before.

Excellent narration and cracking plot driven stories. This collection is sure to be one of my favorites. I loved checking in with Holly Gibney again in the eponymous “If It Bleeds.” But “Life of Chuck” was simply phenomenal. I thought it was one thing and then it turned into something utterly different. It will stick with me for a while. I can’t wait to introduce my family to these stories and enjoy them all over again.

Story
More than 15 years after the events of The Handmaid's Tale, the theocratic regime of the Republic of Gilead maintains its grip on power, but there are signs it is beginning to rot from within. At this crucial moment, the lives of three radically different women converge, with potentially explosive results. Two have grown up as part of the first generation to come of age in the new order. The testimonies of these two young women are joined by a third: Aunt Lydia. Her complex past and uncertain future unfold in surprising and pivotal ways.

Excellent!

The Testaments up to my expectations and then some. Last year I re-read the Handmaid’s Tale and have watched the series. When this was released, I debated reading vs listening. Ultimately, having Ann Dowd read as Aunt Lydia convinced me to listen. I’m glad I did. She is perfect in that role. I’m sure when I go back and read it in book format her voice and diction will come alive in my mind. The rest of the narrators are excellent as well.
Creative and suspenseful, this story answers many of the nagging questions readers are left with in The Handmaid’s Tale. Five stars!

Story
Nine people gather at a remote health resort. Some are here to lose weight, some are here to get a reboot on life, some are here for reasons they can’t even admit to themselves. Amidst all of the luxury and pampering, the mindfulness and meditation, they know these ten days might involve some real work. But none of them could imagine just how challenging the next ten days are going to be.

This is was a true delight to listen to. I’ve read or listened to every book Liane Moriarty has published and this one is up in the top of the pack. I found the character development utterly believable and resulted in a deep, complex relatable cast. The narration was also completely on point with excellent accents and varied voices for a sizable array of characters. I enjoyed it immensely and am only disappointed that it had to end.

Okay plot narration a distraction
Reviewed: 08-21-15
Plot was ok. There were some interesting twists but many seemed pretty unrealistic. I wish there'd had been more attention to legal ins and outs and realistic logistical challenges these characters might face and a bit less on their romantic lives.
Narration was a huge distraction. The change in voice from the older sister to the younger was pretty awful. Despite the fact that the younger sister is a grown woman, she was voiced like a high pitched ten-year-old. Even worse was the profound mispronunciation of most things Michigan. The narrator managed to pronounce Detroit correctly but any other Michigan location was butchered. I picked this title in part because of the Michigan location since I was on a trip to Lake Michigan. Seeing as the pronunciation information is readily available in a quick internet search, it seems like a fairly lame oversight by the narrator or her production team. All the mistakes (bizarrely pronouncing Lake Heron as if it was Here-in) took me right out of the story each time it came up.
Oh well, you win some you loose some. I was interested enough to to listen to the end but won't be recommending it to any friends.
