This time around, we’re comparing the OnePlus 10 Pro vs Huawei Mate 50 Pro. The OnePlus 11 did launch in China at this point, but it still did not launch globally. The OnePlus 10 Pro may be a tempting phone to get for some of you, as its price is now lower than it used to be. On the flip side, the Huawei Mate 50 Pro is an outstanding offering from Huawei, with an excellent camera setup.
Do note that the Huawei Mate 50 Pro does not ship with Google services, though. So if you need Google apps, or want to use the Play Store, it’s not an ideal solution. If not, the Mate 50 Pro has a lot to offer. That being said, we’ll first list the specs of both smartphones, and will then move to compare them across a number of categories. Having said that, let’s get started, shall we?

OnePlus 10 Pro vs Huawei Mate 50 Pro: Design
Both of these phones combine metal and glass, though the Mate 50 Pro also comes in a metal + vegan leather combo. That is the variant we tested, actually. The two devices do look fairly different, actually. Both of them do have thin bezels and curved displays, but that’s basically where similarities end. The OnePlus 10 Pro has a display camera hole in the top-left corner, while the Mate 50 Pro includes a display notch, for a good reason. It offers advanced facial scanning.
All the physical buttons on the Mate 50 Pro are located on the right-hand side. The power/lock button and an alert slider sit on the right-hand side of the OnePlus 10 Pro, while the volume rocker buttons are placed on the left. Even when we flip the two phones around, the differences are quite significant. The OnePlus 10 Pro has a camera island on the left side, which gives the illusion of connecting to the phone’s frame. The Huawei Mate 50 Pro has a circular camera island in the upper portion of its back, and it’s centered.
The OnePlus 10 Pro is slightly taller, narrower, and thicker than the Huawei Mate 50 Pro. It’s also slightly lighter than Huawei’s offering, which goes for both its glass and vegan leather models. The difference is minimal, as both weigh barely over 200 grams. Both phones do feel premium in the hand, but the weight distribution on the Mate 50 Pro seems to be better. The phone is more comfortable to use, though do note that we’re talking about the vegan leather model here. That variant is also less slippery than the OnePlus 10 Pro.
OnePlus 10 Pro vs Huawei Mate 50 Pro: Display
The OnePlus 10 Pro features a 6.7-inch QHD+ (3216 x 1440) LTPO2 Fluid AMOLED display. That panel is curved, and it supports up to 1 billion colors. It has a 120Hz refresh rate, which is adaptive, and the panel does support HDR10+ content too. This display goes up to 1,300 nits of brightness at its peak, and it’s protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus. We’re looking at a 20:9 display aspect ratio here.
The Huawei Mate 50 Pro, on the other hand, includes a 6.74-inch QHD+ (2616 x 1212) OLED panel. This display is curved, and it is not an LTPO panel, by the way, so it does not offer an adaptive refresh rate. Having said that, the display does offer a 120Hz refresh rate, and it’s protected by the Huawei Kunlun Glass. This display has an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, in case you were wondering.
Both of these panels are outstanding. The OnePlus 10 Pro’s panel is an LTPO unit, so that would be an advantage from the battery life standpoint, but the Huawei Mate 50 Pro does offer great battery life, so it’s not really that important. Both panels are gorgeous, they offer vivid colors, they’re quite bright, and offer great viewing angles. The blacks are deep, and the touch response is also excellent. The Huawei Mate 50 Pro has a slightly higher screen-to-body ratio, by the way.
OnePlus 10 Pro vs Huawei Mate 50 Pro: Performance
The OnePlus 10 Pro is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. The phone also packs in up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and it utilizes UFS 3.1 flash storage. The Huawei Mate 50 Pro comes with the 4G only Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, while the company also included 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM here, along with UFS 3.1 flash storage. So, both phones are well-equipped on the hardware side of things, but does that translate to actually good performance? Well, yes, it does.
Both of these phones are silky smooth, basically. In regular, everyday tasks, they shine. They open and close apps really fast, and browsing is a breeze, as is image and video editing. Even if you’re a gamer, you’ll have a good time with both phones, though do note that there are not many games available via the AppGallery. Luckily you can install Aurora Store, or something like that, to get access to graphically more intensive titles. Both phones can handle even the most demanding games, and other than getting a bit warm, they do an excellent job. Performance should not worry you.
OnePlus 10 Pro vs Huawei Mate 50 Pro: Battery
The OnePlus 10 Pro includes a 5,000mAh battery pack, while the Huawei Mate 50 Pro packs in a 4,700mAh battery. During our usage, the OnePlus 10 Pro did a better job in the battery department, but the Huawei Mate 50 Pro can hold its own in that regard. We’ve managed to get over 8 hours of screen-on-time on the OnePlus 10 Pro consistently, and over 7 hours of screen-on-time on the Huawei Mate 50 Pro. On several occasions, Huawei’s flagship was very close to the 8-hour mark.
Those are all great results, but do note that we only played games for review purposes. During our regular usage, games were not a part of the equation. Everything else was, pretty much. Still, your mileage may vary. It will depend on a number of factors, including your usage, signal, and so on. You may get considerably different results, of course, as is the case with every phone.
When charging is concerned, both of these phones have a lot to offer. The OnePlus 10 Pro offers 80W wired (65W in the US) charging, 50W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging. The Huawei Mate 50 Pro supports 66W wired, 50W wireless, and 5W reverse wireless charging. Both smartphones do come with a charging brick included (unlike some other flagships), so you don’t have to buy it separately. What you’ll need to get is a wireless charger, of course, if you’d like to take advantage of those wireless charging speeds.
OnePlus 10 Pro vs Huawei Mate 50 Pro: Cameras
Both of these smartphones are well-equipped in the camera department. The OnePlus 10 Pro includes a 48-megapixel main camera, along with a 50-megapixel ultrawide unit, and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera. The Huawei Mate 50 Pro, on the other hand, has a 50-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel ultrawide unit, and a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.
Out of these two camera setups, the Huawei Mate 50 Pro is more reliable, while the shots overall tend to look more pleasing. The Mate 50 Pro has one of the most reliable cameras in the market, and the XMAGE camera approach actually benefited the company. The OnePlus 10 Pro still provides great results, though, as the camera has been much-improved since launch. It does tend to do a great job, mostly. In low light, the Mate 50 Pro is clearly the better shooter, as it balances everything a bit better than the OnePlus 10 Pro.
Ultrawide cameras on both phones are really good, though the OnePlus 10 Pro has a much wider FoV. The Mate 50 Pro’s telephoto shooter definitely does a better job than the one on the OnePlus 10 Pro. We’re not sure if a larger sensor would have helped, but out of the three cameras on the OnePlus 10 Pro, the telephoto unit is definitely inferior to the other two. Overall, both phones are quite good in the camera department, but we’d rate the Mate 50 Pro a bit higher.
Audio
When it comes to audio, both smartphones offer stereo speakers. Those speakers are quite punchy in both cases, but we did notice a bit more depth on the Mate 50 Pro. It’s as if its soundstage is wider. Both sets of speakers get quite loud, though once again, the Mate 50 Pro’s setup did get a bit louder during our testing, at least it seemed like it to the naked ear. We did not notice any noticeable distortion in either setup.
If you were hoping to find a 3.5mm headphone jack on either of these phones, well, you’re out of luck. Both OnePlus and Huawei opted not to include them on their flagship offerings. You do get access to Bluetooth 5.2 in both instances, for wireless audio.
