Samsung is nearing the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. But these aren’t the only foldables the company has in the pipeline. As we exclusively reported last week, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra is in development for the Korean and Chinese markets. It appears the Fold model will also get a Slim variant in China.

Samsung is readying a Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim for China

If leaks are accurate, Samsung’s next-gen Galaxy foldables should go official on July 10. We are only expecting the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. The Ultra variant of the former may arrive a few months later. The company seemingly developed it to take on Chinese firms that have been launching beefy foldables at competitive prices. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra is expected to bring the best of the foldable world in a single package.

However, Chinese firms also threaten to eat up Samsung’s foldable market with entry-level products. Several companies have launched affordable foldables. The Korean firm seemingly plans to tackle this threat with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim, which will reportedly launch as the Samsung W25 in China (Galaxy foldables always launch under the W series in the country). The information comes from reliable tipster Ice Universe.

According to the source, the Samsung W25 (Fold 6 Slim) will be lighter, thinner, and larger than the regular Galaxy Z Fold 6. It lacks S Pen support, something the company probably couldn’t offer without making the device bulkier. The device is slated to arrive in October. It’s unclear if the Korean firm plans to release it anywhere else. Details are scarce but it shouldn’t be long before something more concrete hits the internet.

Interestingly, Samsung released the Galaxy Z Fold 5 as the Samsung W24 in China. So the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim arriving as the Samsung W25 suggests the regular Fold 6 and Fold 6 Ultra would add some suffixes to their names, like Pro, Ultra, or something else.  Things should get clearer once the company launches the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. The launch event is rumored to take place on July 10.

The Flip model could also get a Slim variant

Rumors have also hinted at a Galaxy Z Flip 6 Slim. Like the Fold variant, it could be a slimmer and more affordable version of the standard model launching next month. However, there haven’t been many leaks about it, so we can’t even tell if Samsung is still working on it. Regardless, the Korean firm is seemingly scared of the Chinese foldables and is rushing to release a Galaxy equivalent at all price points. The competition in the foldable market is certainly heating up.
