Samsung‘s upcoming foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, have been subject to dozens of leaks in recent months. However, those leaks have mostly focused on the design and hardware specifications. There hasn’t been much talk about the software side of things. That’s changing today thanks to the reputed tipster Ice Universe who took to X to reveal that several new AI features will debut with One UI 6.1.1 on the two Samsung foldables.

New Samsung foldables will run One UI 6.1.1 with additional AI features

As usual, the upcoming foldable duo will run a new version of Samsung’s One UI custom Android software. Based on Android 14, One UI 6.1.1 is a relatively minor update compared to One UI 6.0 or One UI 6.1. Well, that’s what these mid-year updates have always been. However, things might change this year thanks to a disruptive AI craze in the industry. Phone makers are rushing to equip devices with AI and Samsung can’t afford to be left behind.

In fact, Samsung started the trend with Galaxy AI on the Galaxy S24 series earlier this year. As other firms catch up, it is now gearing up to extend the lead with new AI tools next month. Last week, Ice Universe revealed that One UI 6.1.1 on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will introduce a sketch-to-drawing AI feature. It reportedly works similarly to Apple’s Image Wand (arriving with iPadOS 18 later this year)—you can convert sketches into proper drawings with text prompts.

The same source has now revealed that One UI 6.1.1 will put Samsung’s S Pen to good use with various AI tools. “Your S Pen [will] finally play an important role… [it] will become a tool for your imagination,” the tipster said on X. Their words suggest Samsung will introduce several AI-powered drawing and editing features where the S Pen could be of great help. One UI 6.1.1 will also improve system animations, making them more smooth and vivid.

Samsung has begun preparations for the new One UI update

Rumors say Samsung will launch the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 on July 10. The new foldables should hit the market a couple of weeks later, while One UI 6.1.1 should reach compatible older models in late July. The company has already begun preparations for its arrival. It has updated several first-party apps with One UI 6.1.1 support. Good Lock module Theme Park is one of the first Samsung apps to get this update. Other apps may follow soon.
