The latest Pixel Feature Drop update brought multiple new features to Pixel devices. However, there are also some small improvements or tweaks in favor of the user experience. The new Lookup option in the Google Phone app is one of those.

Have you ever wanted to do a quick Google search for a particular phone number? For example, when you receive a call from an unknown number and want to know who made it. To make things easier for you in situations like that, Google added the Lookup option to the Google Phone app.

Google Phone app “Lookup” option already reaching Pixel devices

“Lookup” basically starts an immediate Google search for the unknown number from which you received a call. This will help you identify the origin of the call in certain cases. The option doesn’t do much more than that, but it helps you save time. Currently, if you want to search for the unknown number on Google, you must go to the call history of the Google Phone app > press and hold on the number > tap the “Copy number” option > go to Google > paste the number in the search field > press a key to search.

The “Lookup” option appears when you tap on an unknown number in the received call history of the Google Phone app. It is available next to the “Add,” “Message,” and “History” options. So, you can start a “reverse search” of the number immediately, without further complications. It’s noteworthy that the option is just a shortcut to a quick Google search. However, you may not get any relevant results in certain cases. Still, it’s good to have the option at hand.

According to 9to5Google, the new option is being implemented on Pixel devices on the server side. So, you won’t have to update the Google Phone app to receive it. You just have to wait a few hours or days for it to arrive on your device.
