Another day, another round of April updates for Samsung devices. Today, the company has released the latest security update for the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, and Galaxy A54 in the US. It has previously updated over a dozen other models to the new SMR (Security Maintenance Release).

Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 receive Samsung’s April update in the US

Samsung recently confirmed that the May update will bring One UI 6.1 and Galaxy AI to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. Ahead of that, the company is pushing the latest security patch to the foldable duo. The update is available in several markets worldwide, including the US.

In the US, the April SMR is currently rolling out to the carrier-locked variants of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. The new firmware build numbers for the phones are F926USQS5HXD2 and F711USQS6HXD1, respectively. The same update for international versions comes with the build numbers F926BXXS6GXD1 and F711BXXS7GXD1, respectively.

It shouldn’t be long before the April security patch reaches all Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 units worldwide. As usual, you can check for updates from the Settings app. It doesn’t bring anything more than the latest security fixes, though. The April SMR for Galaxy devices patches more than 40 security issues, including a critical Android OS flaw.

These security fixes are also rolling out to the Galaxy A54 in the US. The premium mid-range phone is getting the update with firmware version A546USQS6BXD3. Once again, the update is limited to carrier-locked units and only brings the new SMR. A global rollout should follow in the coming weeks.

All of these devices will get One UI 6.1

Samsung will update the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, and Galaxy A54 to One UI 6.1. However, the latter is unlikely to get new AI features. The foldable duo will also miss out on most new features found on the Galaxy S24 series. According to a forum moderator, its 2021 Galaxy flagships, including the Galaxy S21 series, will only get Circle to Search and Chat Assist.

2022 models—Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Tab S8 series—will get almost the whole Galaxy AI, though. These devices will only miss out on Instant Slo-mo, which is also missing on the Galaxy S23 FE. We will let you know when the One UI 6.1 update starts rolling out to more Samsung devices.
