Samsung brought its highly anticipated Galaxy Ring to the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, which is currently underway in Barcelona. The company also shared more information about its first-ever smart ring. It plans to formally launch the device later this year.

Samsung sheds more light on the Galaxy Ring

The Galaxy Ring has been a long time coming. After years of research and development, Samsung announced the device during the Galaxy S24 launch last month. The company didn’t go into details about its specs and features but said the ring is on the way. Yesterday, it was confirmed that the product will be unveiled at the MWC 2024. As promised, the Galaxy Ring debuted at the mega event in Barcelona.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy Ring brings its “accumulated innovations” in everyday wellness to the smallest form for “comfortable 24/7 wear.” Its lightweight design allows users to wear the device to sleep, replacing their bulkier watches while still getting the same health insights. Samsung says the ring empowers users “with greater insights and more ways to understand themselves day and night.”

Thanks to seamless connectivity with other Galaxy devices and syncing with Samsung Health, Galaxy Ring brings an unrivaled experience to your wellness journey. All your health metrics will be easily accessible on the Samsung Health app on your connected smartphone. Samsung aims to create a “more connected, integrated, and seamless digital wellness platform” with the help of the Galaxy Ring.

The Korean tech behemoth didn’t divulge more details about the product’s hardware and health features. However, The Verge reports that the ring has a slightly concave shape and comes in platinum silver, ceramic black, and gold colors. It is available in sizes from 5 to 13, which means nine different size options. The bigger Galaxy Ring will have a bigger battery, Samsung’s VP & Head of Digital Health Team, Dr. Hon Pak, confirmed.

As far as health features are concerned, the Galaxy Ring will offer “sleep insights based on heart rate, movement, and respiratory indicators.” It will also track menstrual cycles for females and predict the fertility period. Samsung’s smartwatches already do that and the same function is coming to the ring. You can expect many more health features. Its pricing structure is still a mystery, though.

The wearable may debut alongside the new foldables

Samsung said the Galaxy Ring will arrive in the market “later this year.” The company wasn’t specific about its release date. However, rumors say the first-gen model will debut alongside its sixth-gen foldables, i.e., the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. The new foldables are expected to arrive in late July or early August. We might hear more about all of these products in the coming months as Samsung prepares to bring them to the market.
