Google Messages is the company’s primary messaging platform, and it’s been pushing several features to it over time. There’s a new update coming to the app that will make it more secure. Google Messages might block itself if it detects that you’re in a screen-sharing session.

If you’re sharing your phone’s screen, then it’s possible that you’ll share information that shouldn’t be shared. You could accidentally share information in a banking app, notetaking app, social media app, etc. If the wrong person gets ahold of that information, then they could easily hack your accounts or steal your information. This is why it’s important that you watch what apps you have open while screen sharing.

At this point, we don’t know if the company is going to come out with this feature, so you’ll want to take this information with a grain of salt. According to TheSpAndroid, Google is working on a feature that could have Google Messages block itself during a screen-sharing session.

There are different scenarios when a person will ask you to share your screen. They could possibly try to help you with a problem, or maybe they want to see what your setup looks like. There are screen-sharing apps on the Google Play Store, and some of them are used to steal people’s data.

Google is working on a feature that will block access to the app if it detects that your screen is being shared. When sharing your screen, you’ll see a popup stating, “You’re sharing your screen with someone. If you don’t know this person, stop sharing immediately. Google has hidden your sensitive content for security.”

Behind the popup, you’ll see the Google Messages app blacked out. This way, the person won’t be able to see your messages. This is important because messages contain all sorts of sensitive information, and most people don’t know that.

The issue is that there are those times when you’re sharing your screen with a person who you trust. It would be frustrating trying to share your screen with them only to see the popup. It’d be great if Google could let you allow the sharing on a per-session basis.

Right now, Google is testing this feature on a limited number of people. We don’t know when the company will roll this out to the public.
