Android 14 is improving the battery life of the older Pixel phones
If you’re using a Pixel 6 in this day and age, then you should be familiar with this issue. The phone is still a nice offering today with decent performance and the camera is still to die for. However, the battery has diminished greatly. Our in-house Pixel 6 can barely last the day. This probably isn’t as severe with the Pixel 7, but it’s still a year in.
However, several people across Reddit have reported some major improvements with their older Pixel devices. Folks using the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 are reporting significant battery improvements after installing the latest version of Android. Some of them are even claiming that their battery life has doubled.
That news is great on its own, but it gets better, as people are reporting that their phones are also running cooler. Newer Pixel phones have been struggling with overheating issues because of the Tensor chips. These are using older and less efficient technology. So, it’s been a game of optimizing the chips to work efficiently.
