Samsung has delayed the release of the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 beta update for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5. A community moderator recently confirmed that the update won’t arrive until October. The company originally planned to push the first beta build before the end of this month.

According to the Samsung representative, the company had to delay the One UI 6.0 beta program for its latest foldables because its engineers needed more time to “stabilize the software.” Since the Chuseok holiday season is here in South Korea, it’s not possible to get the work done this month. Chuseok is a major mid-autumn harvest festival celebrated with a three-day holiday. It starts this Thursday, September 28.

This means Samsung engineers will start working again on Monday, October 2. It remains to be seen if they can swiftly get across putting the final touch and releasing the first One UI 6.0 beta build for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 by the end of next week. The official announcement on the company’s community forum doesn’t have a release date. It simply says that the beta program will go live as soon as possible after the Chuseok holiday.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 may get One UI 6.0 beta next week

As usual, the new foldables should first get the beta update in Samsung’s homeland South Korea. The company may later expand the availability to a few more markets. It currently has active One UI 6.0 beta programs in China, Germany, India, Poland, the UK, and the US as well. The beta update is available for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S21, Galaxy A54, and Galaxy A34.

For some of the phones, the beta program is limited to just a few markets. If you want to participate, you can check for its availability in your region through the Samsung Members app. You’ll find a banner about the One UI 6.0 beta on the app’s home page. Click on it to proceed with the registration process, which will require you to sign in with a Samsung account. It’s the same process for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 as well.

Once you have completed the registration process, the One UI 6.0 beta will roll out to you like a regular OTA (over-the-air) update. Note that beta software may be unstable, with some functions failing to work properly. Samsung has already pushed the fourth beta update to the Galaxy S23 series and there are still a few known issues. It should fix those with subsequent releases. The stable One UI 6.0 update may arrive in late October.
