The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 launched yesterday, along with the Galaxy Z Fold 5, and five other Samsung products. If you followed any initial reports on the Flip 5, you probably noticed that its cover screen is still limited. Well, we have great news for you. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be able to run any app on the cover screen.

Yes, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be able to run any app on its cover screen

Confused? Well, there is a catch, of course. It’s not able to do so at the moment, which is why nobody demoed it. It will, however, be able to do that once a Good Lock update lands. Good Lock, for those of you who are out of the loop, is Samsung’s very own app dedicated to the customization of One UI.

This information has been revealed by Michael Fisher aka MrMobile in his latest YouTube video. He said that the info was confirmed by Samsung, so there’s no doubt about it. He did not have access to that update either, however, so he was unable to demo it.

Thanks to this, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 comes to the same playing field as the Motorola Razr+, basically, at least as far as the cover screen usability is concerned. Motorola allows you to run any app on the cover screen from the get-go.

You’ll need to take an extra step to make it happen, but it’s not a big deal

You will need to do an extra step on the Galaxy Z Flip 5, but truth be said, it’s just a minor inconvenience. Regular users probably won’t know about it, though, so that may be a problem. But if you’re aware of it, getting it to work should be a piece of cake.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 not only has a considerably larger cover display than its predecessor, but the phone also folds flat. Those are the two main changes compared to the Galaxy Z Flip 5.

The device is also considerably more powerful this time around. It’s fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, and its specs have been improved across the board.
