Today, Comcast announced its latest streaming TV product, NOW TV. This is a sort of hybrid streaming live TV product. As it’s using streaming and FAST channels, as well as tossing in Peacock Premium for just $20 per month.

This service will have channels from NBC, Sky and Xumo, all of which Comcast owns. Which allows Comcast to offer this rather unique product, and also at a pretty low price.

For streaming TV channels, customers will get more than 40 channels from: A&E, Afro, AMC, Animal Planet, BBC America, BBC News, Comedy.TV, Cooking, Crime + Investigation, Discovery, Discovery Life, Food Network, FYI, Great American Family, Great American Living, Get TV, Game Show Network, Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Drama, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, HGTV, The HISTORY Channel, Investigation Discovery, IFC, Justice Central, Lifetime, Lifetime Movie Network, Magnolia Network, Military History, MotorTrend Network, OWN, Pursuit, Recipe.TV, Science Channel, Sony Movies, Sundance TV, TLC, Travel Channel, Vice, WEtv and Weather Channel.

When it comes to FAST channels, customers will get 20 free ad-supported streaming TV channels including: NBC News NOW, Sky News and the following genre-based channels from Xumo Play: Action Movies, Black Cinema, Bollywood & Indian Cinema, Comedy Movies, Comedy TV, Crime TV, Documentaries, Drama & Action TV, Family Movies, Food TV, Movies, Game Shows, Her Movies, Horror & Thriller, Kids TV, Reality TV, Sci-Fi & Fantasy Movies, Travel & Lifestyle TV and Westerns.

On top of that, you also get Peacock Premium, which is normally $5 per month.

Is Comcast’s NOW TV worth it?

This service was just announced, and so far, from what we know about it, it does seem to be a pretty good value. Now will it replace something like YouTube TV, Fubo or Hulu + Live TV? No. That’s because NOW TV really only has channels that Comcast owns, which is a big number of popular cable channels, but nowhere near the top 100 cable channels.

The bright side here is that for $20 per month, you’re getting 60 channels, plus Peacock Premium, and there’s no equipment required. Comcast says that at launch, NOW TV will work through the Xfinity Stream app on supported devices. That includes Xfinity Flex, Fire TV, iOS, Android, and casting via Apple AirPlay and Google Chromecast.
