Earlier this year Samsung announced that it would be making the task of tracking your menstrual cycle on the Galaxy Watch 5 an easier process, using the skin temperature sensors that are embedded in the watch, and powered by Natural Cycles technology. Today the company is unlocking that feature and making it available to use.

The skin temperature-based cycle tracking for the Galaxy Watch 5 series includes both the Galaxy Watch 5 and the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. And its goal is to basically streamline the process of taking Basal Body Temperature readings. Allowing users to get better insights about their menstrual cycle and overall health.

“BBT needs to be measured immediately after waking and prior to any physical activity or impact from surroundings. Getting accurate BBT readings requires measurement the first thing every morning, a process that can be inconvenient and sometimes even forgotten” Samsung says. That inconvenience will be a thing of the past with this new feature finally being made available. Users will be able to wear the watch to bed and wake up in the morning with a reading. There is a bit of setup involved though.

First, users need to launch the Samsung Health app and select the Cycle Tracking feature. From here they need to enter their most recent cycle information into the calendar. Then, enable the predict period with skin temp feature in the settings.

Cycle tracking on Galaxy Watch 5 series goes live in 32 countries

If you’ve got a Galaxy Watch 5 or Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and are wanting to start using this feature, you’ll need to be in one of the supported countries. Of which there are 32. This includes the US, as well as Korea and 30 European countries.

For Europe, Cycle Tracking will be available in the UK, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus and many others. You can find the full list of supported countries on Samsung’s official blog post about the feature.
